Who will we designate? Are we possibly in negotiations with one or both of our stars (Dumervil & Marshall)? If not, who do we tag?

No need to Franchise anyone. No CBA means no salary cap, which mean any player up for FA with less than 6 years of service becomes a restricted free agent. Highest RFA tenders run about 2 million compared to Franchise tag that run about 7-10 million for WR-OLB.

Denver doesn't have any eligible UFA worthy of Franchise Tag.

1st and 3rd picks is still as good as 2 1st round picks not in same draft.

I would think even though Doom is a RFA, if no progress has been made towards a new contract and Denver truly does want to keep him, they would almost have to consider slapping the tag on him. If he hits the market as an RFA I think he will get quite a few looks even with a 1 and 3 price tag.

I think that the FO is gambling that there will not be a new CBA signed by March
5th; which will save the team money and/or give the team good compensation for it's tendered RFAs. If no tag is used and a new CBA is signed then the team
will be behind the 8 ball and will be forced to get new deals in place with the players that they really want to keep by March 5th.

I'd hate to see Doom leave but a 1st and a 3rd would soften the blow greatly.

This draft is one of the deepest in the past decade. DOOM is great and I would hate to lose him but he cannot play agains the run and I am confident that a guy like Brandon Graham would provide a good enough pass rush.

Marshall will not draw a 1st and 3rd just because of his off-field issues, but if he does we would then have the picks to draft a replacement and fill our holes on the o-line and d-line!

This draft is one of the deepest in the past decade. DOOM is great and I would hate to lose him but he cannot play agains the run and I am confident that a guy like Brandon Graham would provide a good enough pass rush.

That sounds like the Patriot-way, no? I think you would take Graham & a 3rd rounder for Doom. Just think.... you get a player (with potential to have more upside) plus a 3rd round pick.... AND save a ton of money, b/c DOOM is on the verge of getting paid! Tough decisions indeed.

Then you get games like our 20-19 loss against the Raiders, the 44-24 loss against the Chiefs, the 27-17 loss against the Redskins, the 32-3 loss against the Chargers, etc.

That being said, I still wouldn't trade him for a 1st and a 3rd. 1st and a 2nd is a done deal to me though.

I would much rather stick with the known commodity in Dumervil. Graham might turn out to be a good pass rusher but here is a link where Mayock explains that he doesnt fit in the Pats style defense, which is what we run.

I think Graham could follow in hs alum footsteps, like Harris & Woodley. I think he's going to be REALLY good. I like Sergio as well. I would be content with either, plus another high pick, to fill Doom's shoes.

I think getting younger & cheaper, and taking a 2-for-1, for DEN is almost too enticing. With the situation we're in, you almost have to jump at that chance- despite the fact that DOOM is a great player.

The turning point, to me, would be how we feel DOOM is handling the transition. I agree, if DOOM is really lacking in coverage and against the run, then use that as motivation to make this move.

BUT, I wouldn't jump at the chance. What if you don't get either Sergio or Graham (settle for that dude from TCU). I mean, DOOM is now a leader and with all the constant changing on DEF... I would prefer he stays. BUT, again.... this should be based on our OVERALL evaluation.

We have so many holes/needs, that we should jump at the chance to get younger, cheaper.... look for quantity.... Or else risk paying premium for a 1-dimensional player (and then we're DOOMed).

McDaniels has said what we do is entirely different from what New England does on defense. It was in an interview he did a while ago that was posted in the GE. Unless you think he's flat out lying about that then I don't think that breakdown of Graham applies.

If we miss out on Doom and Kindle I think I would take Iupati or Pouncey with our extra 1st and then pick up Terry Hughes in the 2nd (He's the dude from TCU )
