I read somewhere on ROTOWORLD last night that Hadnot left DEN looking for more money. If he's still unsigned by end of week, or so, he'll accept DEN's offer?

I read this today (from DP) - Negotiations between the Broncos and free agent G/C Rex Hadnot have reached an impasse, according to the Denver Post.

Hadnot visited Denver on Friday and it looked like he'd be a nice fit for the Broncos' new power scheme. Hadnot likely wants to see if he can garner more interest and guaranteed money elsewhere.

They want more money than they're worth is what it pretty much comes down to, it would be nice to have them and they would both fill holes, but at what cost? How much is too much?

DEN sort of has to overpay, right? We have NOBODY to play OC, and we are very thin on the DL. But, like you said... how much is too much?

I think we have plan-b,c,d.... And that these 2 were our first choice, but that we also feel there are others we can grab who'll fit in.

Hadnot was probably thinking the same thing "they have nobody, I can get whatever I want". Its one thing to overpay a little, it's another to be taken advantage of.

I'm sure McDaniels has other plans, this was just one of them, Mawae is still a possibility, and somebody could be drafted as well.

I keep waiting to hear that Hank Fraley is coming to visit Denver. The Broncos could draft a center, as well, but I think they'd rather start a veteran and develop a rookie.

i would still like sign hadnot and draft someone like eric cook late in the draft. This way he can learn behind hadnot for a couple of years.

or maybe this is already the plan with fry

He is meeting with AZ tomorrow. Hopefully that falls thru since I hope he changes his mind and comes back to Denver. AZ needs a center too but not as badly as the Broncos do so He may have a better chance at starting here which is what I think he is looking for.

AZ was a final-8 team... I think they can only sign one UFA, and not at a hefty price? Not exactly sure.... but I don't see them offering more than what we probably did? I could be wrong.

This is how much they can spend on FA:

                          Karlos Dansby

3/5/2010: Signed a five-year, $43 million contract. The deal includes $22 million guaranteed. 2010-2014: Under Contract, 2015: Free Agent

I don't think the size of the contract matters when signing UFA. They can only sign 1 for everyone they lose but it has to be no more than a set limit which is $3-4M per year I believe. here is the info

                              Q. What is the Final Eight Plan?
                              A. During the Final League Year, the eight clubs that make the Divisional Playoffs in the previous season have additional restrictions that limit their ability to sign unrestricted free agents from other clubs. In general, the four clubs participating in the championship games are limited in the number of free agents that they may sign; the limit is determined by the number of their own free agents signing with other clubs. They cannot sign any UFAs unless one of theirs is signed by another team.

For the four clubs that lost in the Divisional Playoffs, in addition to having the ability to sign free agents based on the number of their own free agents signing with other clubs, they may also sign players based on specific financial parameters. Those four only will be permitted to sign one unrestricted free agent for $5.5 million (estimated) or more in year one of the contract, plus the number of their UFAs who sign with another team. They also can sign any unrestricted free agents for less than $3.7 (estimated) million in year one of the contract with limitations on the per year increases.

In the case of all final eight teams, the first year salary of UFAs they sign to replace those lost cannot exceed the first year salary of the player lost with limitations on the per year increases.
