The bigger, and more annoying problem, is that this forum has a new 4 day edit rule. After 4 days, you can't edit your posts. So, you actually have to make a new thread every 4 days to keep things up to snuff. It sucks because you lose so much of the discussion from the previous thread and it is a lot of unnecessary work. I did it with the Junior Declare List and that was enough for me.

So...this Pro Day thread I'll keep updated for four days, then I'll wait until all the Pro Days are done, which is about a week, and I'll just have Elevation insert it in his Personal Visit threads.

I just wanted to throw this up now to see if I could accumulate some information I may have missed.

that will work, and yeah the edit rule is BS....i will keep an eye here as well then like you said when they are done i will just combine your thread with mine for a super thread before draft day, we should do it as one next year.....:salute!:

        Sounds good.

Updating that on Friday, we were one of 10 teams that did not send representatives to Vanderbilt's Pro Day. The only prospects of note are CB Myron Lewis and OT Thomas Welch.

We had scouts at Louisiana Tech checking out DT D'Anthony Smith and RB Daniel Porter.

Thanks! I'm curious whom we were really focused on. Smith is athletic enough to possibly be a 5 tech, though he's a bit short. He might be best in the 4-3. Porter is a 3rd down back, and up to this point, we haven't really shown much interest in that unless you count McCluster, which I suppose you have to.

I know defensive line coaches from the Vikings, Bengals, Saints, Rams and Ravens all came to watch Smith. Smith checked in at the pro day 6'2 1/8 304. He had 30 bench reps along with a 35 1/2 vert, 5.01 40 time. His arm length at the combine was 32 3/8 and hand was 10.

Also to we sent a scout to Baylor's pro day. J.D.Walton only did position drills but WR David Gettis put on a show by running a 4.46 and 4.39 40. A name that stood out was DT Trey Bryant 6'1 1/8 312 had a 4.91 and 4.94 40. His arm length spanned an impressive 33 3/4.

La Tech is kind of like Fresno in the sense they always seem to have a few good prospects even though they haven't had much success in the WAC. I don't know much about the program, other than the fact they have limited fan support, and they seem to draw a lot of good athletes that cant get into LSU for one reason or another.

For instance, we sent scouts (time and money) to scout potential Fullbacks. None of us, well at least me, had any idea we were interested in a Fullback.
                  .

Thats why I am putting Dywer or whoever his name is in my new mock. Evidently he played some time at FB before, dropped like 20 lbs for combine and such and is now around 225 or so. I think we take him in the 4th. His value is a 3rd and I bet he falls to us at 4. He can play RB, be our smash mouth guy and also hybrid into FB-- he is a dueley just like Larsen is.
                  So far:
                  FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
                  1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

We sent a scout to Iowa's pro day. There's a picture of our scout talking to TE Tony Moeaki who had a very impressive day on Iowa football website. But I believe he was there with his eyes on CB Amari Spievey who checked in at 5'10 7/8 199. LBs Pat Angerer and A.J. Edds both had good workouts.

Ok, I'll update Iowa and Baylor.

I don't think we were there to look at Spievey. We're so full at CB now with the signing of Jones that I don't see that position being addressed before the 4th Round at the absolute earliest, and Spievey will be gone in the Late 2nd or Early 3rd.

I could see us looking at Moeaki, but my money would be on Calloway as a swing tackle in the 3rd-4th Round range.

We did did talk to Spievey at the combine so I wouldnt be to surprised if we have him high on our board. Also we might be stacked at the CB position but McDaniels love competitions and if feels Spievey can come in a compete then he'll pull the trigger. And this draft is very deep in corners. So Spievey could slip. I personally have him rated in 3 to 4 range.

As far as Calloway goes I would highly upset if drafted him or even looked at him before the 5th rd. Other than his size nothing really stands out to me about him. He's a project at tackle. He would need alot of time to develop.

We can't take a CB early. I don't see how it will happen.

Obviously, Champ and Andre are the starters. We just gave Nathan Jones a pretty big contract for a nickel CB. At worst he'll be the dime. Alphonso Smith is going to be the 3rd or 4th CB. Tony Carter is cuttable.

However, if you take a CB before the 4th Round, he's never going to play barring an injury, or perhaps on special teams. He'd be the 5th CB on our team, he wouldn't even dress at times. We're definitely not going to take Spievey in the 2nd Round and deactive him. We're not going to deactivate Smith.

If we don't cut Tony Carter, we have no room for a CB on the roster at all. If we release Carter, than we have room for a guy that will be inactive most of the time. An early round CB is just not an option for us, we are in bed with Alphonso Smith for better or worse.

As for Calloway, he's a good option in the 4th Round area. He has experience at both OTs spots and OG. He'd be perfect for a #3 swing OT to replace Polumbus. Tyler is terrible. Kyle is a massive upgrade, and we are definitely looking at swing OTs. If we miss on Newhouse, Calloway becomes a quality fallback plan.

I like this line of thinking, but if you extend it you'll know that we also went to Iowa to see Bulaga in case he's available at 11. Slot him in at guard immediately, with the intention of taking over at RT when the somewhat-fragile Harris goes down to injury. Bulaga is a good drive blocker and, in terms of intangibles, he's a perfect fit for this team. Say what you want about positional value at 11 - that's not going to stop McD from taking high-end talent that fits our scheme.

As an aside, this draft is going to be about adding firepower to the attack. Interior run blocking, a power back and a multidimensional slot/KR type guy seem to be on the wish list. IMO, anyone who was/is hoping for a big defensive boost is going to be sorely disappointed.

See, I disagree about the positional value part. McD grew up under Pioli and Belichick. Both of those men are massive believers in positional value, especially Pioli. I mean, you heard it this week when Atlanta's GM foolishly spilt the beans that Pioli told him he could never take a Safety at #5 Overall.

Some things you just do not do early in the draft, an OG or RT is one of them. And those elite LT prospects don't want to be OGs or RTs. That's massive dollars they lose on their second contract. So, you have morale issues.

We're looking for a cost effective swing OT with long term potential at RT. We tried to get Pashos, but he went where he could start. We looked at Ducasse. I just have zero doubt we were there to look at Calloway. At some point from the 2nd - 4th Round we will draft a #3 OT that can pretty much play every position but OC. There's only so many that fit that mold in this draft. Iupati, Ducasse, Jerry, Newhouse, Calloway, Black, Wang, and Scott. We will draft one of those guys.

I'm also not sure I agree with your final statement. I don't really see this as a "firepower" draft at all. I see it as a trenches draft. Outside of a WR if we trade Marshall and RB/FB type. I think every single pick will be on the trenches.
