  • Do you Like or Dislike Rolando Mcclain

I just wanted to know if people on this forum like Mcclain. After you pick your choice, please tell in a post which you picked, and if you would take him or not at 11. State the reason(s) why or why not you'll take Mcclain and if you pick no, give an alternate option.

I like his heart and work ethic, but I dislike him as a player. IMO he is pretty average for a LB and I feel that Weatherspoon is a better prospect than McClain. I'm sure both Weatherspoon and McClain will become very good NFL players but I don't find his play to be mindblowing :salute!:

from the very small amount of his play I have seen posted on these forums I have yet to see him deliver a hit on an apponent. I see him grab hold of a player and then wrestle them to the ground alot. On the occasions he doesn't get them to the ground they break free from his grip and break it fir a big gain.

not what we need given our run D history in my opinion

Love McClain. This guy called the defense for Alabama this year. He is one of the smartest players football wise that has come out of college in a long time. (QBs included)

Couple that with his work ethic, speed, motivation and heart and you got yourself an All Pro Linebacker.

Everything else can be coached. As for his hitting ability? Everyone loves a big hit but I would take a sure tackler over a big hitter any day of the week.

This guy is like another DJ Williams, not a great hitter but can motor from sideline to sideline.

I hope this is Denver's 1st round draft pick.

I would dislike if he was our pick anywhere in round 1.

            Why:
            Low positional value
            Arm/hug tackleing
Health/ long term affects from it
Just one part of a talented defense which helped bring him the hype
Doesn't have sideline to sideline range
Doesn't have the coverage skills I would like out of a first round LB

            Other ILB options:
Mario Haggan (It has been mentioned before about him switching to ILB, and he has played the position before)

Weatherspoon in the 1st, if we have to take a first round LB
Chaney in the 2nd, seems like the same player as McClain without all the hype
            Spikes in the 3rd/4th
            Sean Lee in the 3rd/4th
            Pat Angerer in the 3rd/4th
            Donald Butler in the 3rd/4th
            Phillip Dillard in the 4th/5th
            Joe Pawelek in the 7th/UDFA

Not necessarily dislike, just think he's overrated and not worthy of the 11 pick.

I really like Jamar Chaney as an option for ILB ahead of McClain and Chaney will likely be available to us in the 2nd.

                Athletic freak, great work ethic.

But not a very good player.
#11 is way too high for McClain.

He is blah. I don't dislike, but I'm sure as hell not as infatuated with him as others on this board.

I'm not really a fan of his. He just doesn't have the athletic talent to make him as amazing as he's hyped up to be. I hope we go somewhere else with #11. Dan Williams, Dez Bryant, or Jared Odrick would all be nice picks.

I don't like the way he tackles. And many times he is jogging on the field (even when blitzing or chasing someone). His disease might be manageable but maybe it can explain why his motor runs cold during games. Also, he was known as the leader of the Alabama defense but he seems to be very shy to speak, I fall asleep listening to him. I can't even imagine him shouting.

But of course I like to know he was a leader for the team and organized his defense on the field, many times I saw McClain calling audibles and making signals before the snap. He also has perfect size to play 3-4 ILB and already has plenty of experience in this position.

I am sure McDaniels and Xanders will love the person, the character, the football knowledge and leadership role that McClain offers. Not to mention that he fills a need.

Tim Tebow has all that, and everything that is wrong with him can be coached yet he is a 3rd prospect.

There's a difference. Tebow is a HUGE coaching prospect.

That's like saying we should get Usain Bolt in the 1st round because all he needs is some coaching.

thats exactly what we dont need, another linebacker like dj williams, we need a guy can go through through the middle, throw off blocks/run through them, (not run around them like mclain) and churn through all the crap inside.

Also with mclain we would have one of the highest paid inside linebacker duo's in the league.
