I find it funny that the only thing you can dispute is the fact that a poster was one round off in his thinking.

Could you address the other issues I (and a few other posters) brought up about the likelihood of us drafting at least two d-lineman?

Sorry, I edited my original post...I sounded like too much of an A-Hole...lol

Assuming we have the six draft picks we have now, I doubt we draft two defensive linemen. We've got our starting three -- Bannen, Williams, Green. Then we've got backups galore -- Smith, McBean, Thomas, Baker, Fields...

McDaniels has to be worried about winning. If this team falters -- goes 6 and 10, for example -- then he'll be on the hot seat in 2011. His first stint as a head coach might be three and out, and he would have a tough time selling himself as a wunderkind in the future if his team went downhill. He needs to do at least as well, record-wise, as last season.

So I don't see him spending a lot of early draft picks on backup or defensive players. He has to know his offense needs improvement, and that starts with the O-line. He has to get a quality starting left guard and a quality starting center. I doubt he's willing to let his reputation as a coach ride on Dustin Fry and Matt McChesney.

First four rounds -- center, guard, power runner, possibly a receiver; not necessarily in that order.

You think we can make the playoffs with the LB we have now,i dont.I guess my expectations for a LB is a lot higher than yours is.I say we draft to LBs at least in the draft.Im not content with what we have on defense,we need a lot more if we expect to make the playoffs. Also, you have to consider depth and injury.I dont think any memeber on this board would dislike having Rolando McClain and Brandan Graham if we draft them both.

I agree that McClain and Graham would be upgrades over Haggan and Ayers, and heck Odrick would be an upgrade over Green or Bannen, but I think offense has to take priority since it is less than adequate with the current players.

I would dislike haveing mclain and graham because we have ayers who everyone needs to give him a break. He was second in the team in QB pressujres and had 5 QB hit in playing less then half of the snaps. He should start this year and will be the power rusher on the left. No need for graham. Also mclain to me is the replica of Dj williams exept for the fact DJ williams can tackle propely

I would say we have a starting 2..Williams and Bannan. Green may or may not start. That would depend on the draft. Even if all three do start, who are the starters next year or the year after. Green and bannan are both 31, Williams is 34. As for the others on the team that you call backups, I think you nailed it there. They are backups, not starters so the future starters need to be added now so they can take over in a couple years once these 3 vets we added retire. I still say at least 1 DE and 1 NT, maybe more including UDFA.

As far as McD on the hotseat, I think that is way off base. In his second year of rebuilding I doubt if his seat even gets warm. Rebuilding a team including completely overhauling an entire defense takes more than 2 years and Bowlen knows that.

I say we add 1 DE in the second this year, Either tyson alualu or lamarr houston. Also i beleive chris baker will be a starter in the future. Also i think this offseason thomas will play at DE and his future will be decided and mcbean may be gone and smith will have to prove himself.
