I still think that is the reason why we didn't sign Hadnot, because we wouldn't guarantee him the job.

Relying on Dustin Fry (a guy who's been with 4 different NFL teams in his 3 NFL seasons) and a 3rd round rookie to battle for the starting Center job (arguably the second most important position on the offensive line behind LT) is just way too much risk.
We didn't sign Hadnot because we couldn't match the contract he was demanding. He was one of our first free agent visits set up. You set up a free agent visit almost immediately with a player you intend to sign.

James Harrison got cut from the Ravens PS 4 times, now look at him. Just because Fry didn't make it on other teams doesn't mean that he wouldn't be a good fit for us. For all we know, Fry could have everything McD wants in a Center.
Dustin Fry-6-3 height/326 pounds
Casey Wiegnmann-6-2 height/285 pounds
that doesnt mean he is better though

Dustin Fry ...

It would be a big step forward in his NFL career if he just made the 53 man roster of the 2010 Broncos.
It would be a giant step forward for him to challenge for a starting spot.

An every down ...

I really like Odrick. As many of us have mentioned before, Green is not an every down DE. Odrick would be the perfect player to rotate with him as a rookie.
I think it is pretty likely he is our pick at 11.
Nice post:go:
Jared Odrick could be a good 5 tech. Most DI college teams play a 4-3 D, and Odrick was a 3 tech primarily.
That's OK. College DL drafted into a 3-4 D must adjust.
The warning flags Odrick once had seem to have mostly disappeared.
DL is a need, but not the only one. OL needs attention as well.
Some say a #11 draft pick should be starter material. Some say only a position which needs a starter right away should be picked.
Jared Odrick isn't ranked as high as other prospects. If he was the 1st rounder for the Broncos, I'm down with that as long as OL gets some attention immediately following.
I think Mat'hir Uth Gan recently had a mock draft that went: Jared Odrick, JD Walton, Marshall Newhouse, Eric Olsen, Micah Johnson and a P (either Mesko or Dodge). That addresses everything except RB."Stultum est timere quod vitare non potes." ~ Publilius Syrus
