  • Walter Footballs new Mock - LOL - We have a new WINNER!!!

I thought after seeing someone on NFL.com project Sergio Kindle to us at #11 there would be no way I could see a worst draft.......but I was wrong. Here is Matt McGuire's new 3 round mock - http://walterfootball.com/draft2010matt.php

    Our Picks and analysis -

    1 - Taylor Mays - S - USC
I have the Broncos passing up on Rolando McClain because some teams are very weary about McClain's Crohn's disease, which is a serious threat to his health in the future. With this said, the Broncos are highly likely to go defense at this pick. After investing in outside linebacker last year with Robert Ayers, I think you have to look at defensive line, but with Dan Williams gone and Jared Odrick being a reach at No. 11, it doesn't make much sense. This defense could use a big-time strong safety and Mays makes a lot of sense for this depth chart if they were to pass up on McClain.

    2 - Corey Wootten - DE - Northwestern
Corey Wootton has intriguing physical tools to play 5-technique in the Broncos' three-man front.

    3 - Colt McCoy - QB - Texas
I think McCoy to Denver is a great fit for a head coach who loves quarterbacks that don't throw the ball more than four yards down the field.

Anyone be happy with this draft LOL, btw they always knock McD and the Broncos on here.

2 other picks that made me laugh -

#22 (NE) - Jared Odrick - DT - Penn StateThis is one of those picks that a lot of fans probably hate seeing in my mock draft in terms of a prospect, but one that often happens on Draft Day. Teams reach and this is a logical reach for the Pats. They are desperate to find a defensive end for their line after trading away Richard Seymour to the Raiders.

Odrick has prototypical tools to play the 5-technique position with great size, strength, quickness, active hands and a great motor. He has a bit of upside and might crack the top 20-25 of big boards for 3-4 defensive teams. Odrick makes a lot of sense here for the Pats especially since I am not so high on the outside linebackers worthy of this selection.

He MIGHT fall here, unlikely, but the bits in bold made me laugh.

    #38 (Cleveland Browns) - Sergio Kindle - DE/OLB - Texas
Kindle is a little overrated and I'm confident he is going to fall out if the first round, much to the chagrin of Mike Mayock who has him No. 7 overall on his board. The Browns are desperate for pass rushers, and he's their best option at this point.

NO WAY he falls out of round one.

    Yeah, that's bad.

Mays is a laughingly bad selection.

Corey Wootton is a stud, but in a 4-3 defense. He's 270 lbs. It's going to take years to muscle him up to the 290-300 range to play 5 tech. That added weight might also be hard on his knee as well. You can always use a nickel DE, but we just signed Jarvis Green for that role. I don't see Wootton as a fit for us.

McCoy makes little sense with just having picked up Quinn.

Odrick at #22 to the Pats is as LOW as he might go. Is it really a reach to take him 11 spots higher at #11? I don't think so.

I don't think Kindle falls out of the 1st, but it is possible. There are a lot of OLB talent in that range with Graham, Worilds, Griffen, and Hughes. Someone is going to fall into the Mid-2nd.

Thats horrible, we have 5 safeties on the team already. Wooten is more of a power 4-3 DE to me. We traded for Quinn, i would be very very surprised if we take a QB in the draft. If Tyson Jackson can #3 overall, then Odrick whos a better prospect can go #11 to Denver.

If we took Taylor Mays in the 1st round I would literally jump off a building.

this would be so bad. mays is going to be a bust. to be honest i wouldnt take him in the first 3 rounds. that may seem very stupid but believe me he will be nothing in the NFL. im confident in saying that. he cant cover. he has no ball skills, he misses too many tackles. he has no flexibility. he doesnt even force fumbles for someone who is supposed to be a hard hitter. i dont like wootton. hes more of a 4-3 end. he hasnt consistently had good production. hes been hurt. i wouldnt take him. the mccoy pick would be a joke. i think hes a solid player but we dont need a QB after bringing in quinn

also i think odrick could easily end up with us. hes much better than this guy gives him credit for. i think hes a top 15 or 20 talent. i dont like kindle that much but i still think he will be picked in the 1st round. somewhere between 20 n 30

i dont pay any attention to walterfootball.com. its a total joke. the people on there have no idea what theyre talking about. honestly me n MUG r much smarter than those people
            Go Broncos!!!:thumb:

Same with the Browns and Mangini.
The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

McGuire's mock drafts are a little funky, but I like the site on the whole.

No question, Mays would not be a good draft pick for the Broncos. I think he's actually a little underrated by people who say he can't play at all, but he will need good coaching and a good system when he comes to the NFL.

                The Patriots would love Odrick.

Jared Odrick at #22 is not a reach. Find players like him in previous drafts, they're pretty hard to come by. Shoot he's twice the prospect Tyson Jackson was, although granted that was a huge reach. If we take Odrick at #22, I don't think we will, but I won't be surprised or upset.

I've read that site for a couple of years. Matt's have always been bad at mocks. I believe he does it to be original. He's better at scouting reports, and draft columns.

I dont know about McCoy but I sure would like Tony Pike in the 2nd or 3rd. Yes I know we just got Brady Quinn but he has yet to prove himself and Im not really excited about seeing him play at this point. Mays at #11 is mmm not that great of a pick. If we took a safety right there I would go with Earl Thomas but I wouldn't complain about Mays only because Renaldo Hill played horribly after week 5 to the end of the season and I would like a replacement. And this most likely being Brian Dawkins last season we are going to need to replace a big and hard hitting safety like him. Even though Im really interested in seeing McBath and Bruton play. As for Mays with are #11 I wouldn't like it unless we get him with another 1st round pick and not our #11if Denver trades Marshall. I think he will go to the Eagles or Bengals. I wouldn't be surprised if Mays fell to the 2nd round though. I wasnt expecting Rey Maualuga to fall to the 2nd round last season but he did. But if he did fall to the 2nd someone would take him top 5 in 2nd possibly.
