  • WOW - Mike Mayock's big board - 2009

I was searching some stuff on the internet and I came across Mike Mayocks big board from - 17/04/2009, I never knew he was so high on Ayers and Moreno. I remember him saying that Ayers would be the best D player in the draft but it would take him 2-3 years.

    1.Eugene Monroe OT Virginia
    2.Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
    3.Robert Ayers DE Tennessee
    4.Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia
    5.Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma State
    6.Jason Smith OT Baylor
    7.Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest
    8.Andre Smith OT Alabama
    9.B.J. Raji DT Boston College
    10.Mark Sanchez QB USC
    11.Peria Jerry DT Mississippi
    12.Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
    13.Tyson Jackson DE LSU
    14.Malcolm Jenkins CB
    15.Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
    16.Josh Freeman QB Kansas State
    17.Darius Butler CB Connecticut
    18.Michael Oher OT Mississippi
    19.Brian Orakpo DE/LB Texas
    20.Chris Wells RB Ohio State

Yeah, Mayock was very happy with our first round, obviously.

We won't really know for another 2 years for sure, but I'm hoping that this year both of them take a step forward (Moreno really needed 250 more yards to have a great year... and fewer fumbles... OLB takes a while).

I'm not too worried just yet.

Yeah I think Moreno especially will surprise people next year. I really think the injury to Buckhalter hurt him, because there was nobody for him to share carries with so it was a lot on his plate for a rookie year. I am also confident that Ayers will turn into a stud :salute!:

I just remember ayers at the senior bowl week ripping through all of the O linemen in the one on one drills.

I believe he is too. I know my feelings doesn't matter, but thinking about Ayers potential and how he could reek havoc this year, WOW. I haven't felt this wasy since Al Wilson.

man I hope mayock knows what he talking about. I personally think ayers will have a breakout year next year n I think moreno will too if he gets some solid blocking in front of him

I agree, it starts with OC and OG in the draft. Weather seth olsen can start than we still need a centrew. I would rather have a true centre than a converted one.

I just figured since McD and Xanders didn't have much time to scout players they just went off Mayock's board.

I never really tend to look much into Mayock's "big board", because he seems to get high on a few players and rides them as the "best players in the draft", yet they usually are just really quality guys.

I do like Mayock tho, his analysis and scouting reports are better than most of those other hacks haha

Mayock is a buffoon. If this was his true board it just shows the level of his talent evaluation. Ayers and Moreno were no where near top 5 in ability or production. Remember this was the guy that said Indy made the wrong choice selecting Peyton Manning over the cant miss talent of Ryan Leaf.

Obviously better than M Kiper's board!
