    Trade #1

Titans OC Kevin Mawae for 49er's 14th pick in the 5th round

Reasoning: Kevin Mawae is an aging veteran who will turn 40 before the 2011 Super Bowl. While he has no doubt been a mark of consistency throughout his long career, his time is obviously coming to an end. The Titans offensive line is all under 28 and one of the best run blocking lines in the league. 25 year old Leroy Harris who has been waiting in the wings for the past three seasons is ready to step in and take over the starting role and form one of the leagues youngest and best offensive lines.

    Trade #2

Titans 17th pick in the 5th round for Cowboys WR Roy E. Williams

Reasoning: Simply put, Williams has all star potential and was available at a very cheap price. The original asking price was a 4th rounder but once a 5th was acceptable to complete the deal I caved in. Williams most likely starts next to second year man Kenny Britt, and is backed up by Justin Gage, Lavelle Hawkins, and Nate Washington. Titans are clearly a run 1st team, but Kenny Britt had some great chemistry with Vince Young last year. As long as Williams can use his big frame to be an effective red zone target and stretch the field with some acrobatic catches, the trade will be worth it.

    Trade #3

Titans HB Lendale White for Cowboys SS Pat Watkins

Reasoning: LenDale White was incredibly unhappy playing second fiddle to Chris Johnson and his 2,000 yard season and has made his mind clear about wanting out. He only took 64 carries in 2010 and had just 2 rushing touchdowns, signaling that he wasn't really needed in goalline situations. This opens the door for second year man Javon Ringer who was an early pick in the 2009 draft. Pat Watkins is relatively young and has great size for a safety at 6'5 218 pounds. He flashed great potential early in his career with 4 picks in his first 2 seasons, but his playing time has tapered off recently. He should be able to contribute to the Titans secondary and to the special teams in his first season. Chris Hope turns 30 soon, so Watkins could be the future there as well.

    Trade #4

Titans 15th pick in the 7th round for Cardinals OC Ben Claxton

Reasoning: Claxton was a 5th round pick a few seasons ago and never really had the chance to start anywhere, but he was a solid prospect coming out of college, so that isn't a knock on his ability. While he's not going to start in Tennessee, he provides solid depth at an extremely cheap price which would save the Titans having to take a backup OC in earlier rounds after trading away Mawae.

This is alot better format. Kudos Hoserman. I will be editing mine tomorrow. If everyone could, use Hosermans as the exemplar and not mine.

        BENGALS HEAD COACH MARVIN LEWIS
        PRESS CONFERENCE
        APRIL 8, 2010

Coming into the offseason, what did you see as your areas of need?

LEWIS Well, obviously, we had a few problems coming into last year at the tight end position. Reggie [Kelly] hurt his leg, Ben [Utecht] suffered a season-ending concussion and Chase Coffman struggled with injuries as well, and that left just [Dan] Coats to fill the role. We picked up J.P. Foschi to take on the role and he performed well for us. Coming into this offseason, we recognized that picking up a tight end was a priority to help our offense move the ball through the air. Obviously, we're pretty happy with our depth at offensive line and running back, and our QB's one of the best in the business. On the defensive side, we're still looking at ways to get a little bigger, a little faster, a little tougher. We're happy with the way those guys played last year, and we're grateful to have signed them all back for another year. But we've still got to get better.

You traded a third-round pick for Texans tight end Owen Daniels. What do you think of the value of that trade, and what do you expect of him coming into this season?

LEWIS We got a great value in Owen. An absolutely great value. You all saw what he did to us when we played the Texans last year. We expect him to do that for us this season. We're not sure why the Texans were willing to part with him for such a low value -- I can't speak for Gary Kubiak or the Texans front office, but I know we probably should have paid more for him. Maybe they were worried about his injury status. But getting Owen into the fold really opens up the draft for us.

Is that why you traded out of the first round?

LEWIS Well, that's part of it. There were a couple of things going on, really. This is a deep draft, a good class -- we knew that getting more picks was going to help us out. We initiated the trade with the Jets because they see a need on their team that might require a first-day guy to address. We don't necessarily see it that way, in our position. We gave up the 21st overall pick for the 43rd and the 61st picks, and that's a pretty even trade. We might have even asked for more. But we know that with this draft class, getting the best player available three times in the second round is like getting three first round picks in a lot of other drafts.

But then why did you move back up to the top of the second round with your trade with the Rams?

LEWIS St. Louis initiated that trade, and they offered us a great value. We couldn't say no. Look, if you go by -- there's a chart that a lot of GMs use to assign value to draft picks, and that pick was well in our favor. We didn't expect for St. Louis to want to make that move, but giving up a fourth-round pick to move to the top of the second round is fine with us. We'll have an even better shot at hitting on a good player.

But didn't you say you wanted more picks?

LEWIS We wanted to be in the best position to take advantage of what this draft has to offer.

What positions are you looking to address in this draft, if that's the case?

LEWIS [giggling] We want to be a better football team. We've got a lot of good football players right now, but we want to bring in guys that are going to be able to compete for playing time, to push the guys who are established harder. If the guys we have on the roster now work hard enough to keep their jobs with the young and hungry guys behind them, then we've got to be happy about that.

Is that easy enough to follow, or do you need me to reformat? I'd be glad to if you need me to do so.

                New Orleans Saints

                Current picks:
                #32 (1st rounder)
                #64 (2nd rounder)
                #95 (3rd rounder)
                #127 (4th rounder)
                #132 (5th rounder)
                #223 (7th rounder)
                #226 (7th rounder)

                Trade #1:
Saints send WR Devery Henderson and 6th rounder to the Raiders for DT Tommy Kelly

I wanted someone at least capable of starting next to Sedrick Ellis and I saw Kelly as an upgrade over Remi Ayodele and DeMario Pressley and as of now will split time with Anthony Hargrove.

                Trade #2:
Saints send DE Charles Grant to the Rams for a 5th rounder (#132) and a 7th rounder (#226).

Charles Grant hasn't played like he did his first 3 seasons and also might be suspended for the first 4 games after failing a substance abuse test. Will Smith (and the Williams' of the Vikings) is also awaiting on a legal case to see if he will be suspended. Instead of possibly being without my two pass rush DEs, I traded the lesser of the two away to get some value instead of an outright release.

Dude, it was money. Very easy to follow and you covered everything I believe. Oh and I also heard Marvin Lewis speaking. Especially with the giggle at the end. Alright not to be a ****, but lets limit the amount of posts on this page to make it easier on MUG.

                    Jags offseason moves...

I have been very busy this offseason trying to prepare my team for success in 2010. I had to remember that I am in the AFC South with some high flying offenses and felt i need to step my game up a little. Jack Del Rio is on the hot seat this season as it is a make or break season for him.

                    Trade #1:
FS Reggie Nelson to the Detriot Lions for a 4th round selection

Reasoning: Nelson was selected in the 1st round of the 2007 NFL draft with high expectations. After failing to impress the brass in Jacksonville for a 3rd straight season, it was time to move on. Both the team and city were happy about the move.

                    Trade #2:
DT John Henderson to the Atlanta Falcons for a 4th round selection

Reasoning: John Henderson just turned 31 this past January. He to was selected in the 1st round by Jacksonville in 2002. The guy has played some decent ball for our club. He was named to 2 Pro Bowls (2004 and 2006). We felt now would be the time to move him and get the most we could and let some younger talent step in.

                    Trade #3:
5th round selection to the Denver Broncos for DE Jarvis Moss and a 7th round selection

Reasoning: The Jaguars felt it was necessary to add to their defensive line. DE was a priority for them seeing that they were so terrible at rushing the passer in 2009. They added Moss because they feel he was never givin the proper chance to start. He is also a Florida boy which the fan base loves hometown guys.

                    Trade #4:
3rd round selection to the Dallas Cowboys for DT Marcus Spears

Reasoning: After the departure of Henderson, there was a hole that needed to be filled. The Jags saw Spears as the perfect candidate. They felt that a 3rd round pick was a fair price to pay.

                    Trade #5:
4th round selection to the Denver Broncos for TE Tony Scheffler

Reasoning: I, as the GM of the Jaguars, am trying to build a uptempo offence and felt a top flight recieving TE was needed on this team. TE Mercedes Lewis was to inconsistent and dropped alot of passes in 2009. I felt there was an upgrade needed.

                    Trade #6:
1st round selection (#10 overall) to the New England Patriots for Randy Moss, 3rd round selection (2nd pick in 3rd) and 4th round selection

Reasoning: I was shoping the #10 overall trying to aquire more picks (I wanted a 2nd). I never came across the deal i wanted. I was in talks with 3 different teams and New England gave me the best deal. Randy Moss will be a HUGE addition to this team. He wil help take pressure off of David Garrard, Sims-Walker, and Jones-Drew.

                    Trade #7:
TE Mercedes Lewis to the Baltimore Ravens for a 6th round selection

Reasoning: Mercedes Lewis was becoming to inconsistant with his play and had to be moved after the aquisition of TE Tony Scheffler.

                    Trade #8:
7th round selection to the Denver Broncos for CB Ty Law

Reasoning: Ty Law was brought in to play the nickle corner position and for mentoring the young talent on this team. Rashean Mathis was mover to FS after the Nelson trade. That leaves Law to school up Cox and whoever starts on the other side (most likley a draft choice).

                    Trade #9:
Eben Britton to the Washington Redskins for #37 overall

Reasoning: I had to work on this trade for about a week and a half. The trade council thought i was crazy for all the trades i was sending up, but this one i had put alot of thought into. Yes, Britton was a 15 game starter at RT in 2009, but the Jags felt it neccesary to aquire a 2nd round pick for undisclosed reasons. They tried everything under the sun and this is what it took.

                    Trade #10:
3rd round selection to the Dallas Cowboys for #90, #125, and #190

Reasoning: This move was just to aquire more picks.

                    Trade #11:
#108 overall and #125 overall to the Arizona Cardinals for #88 overall

Reasoning: This was to aquire another 3rd round selection.

After all of these moves I feel i have put my team in PRIME position to take back the division title in 2010. After the draft i feel i will be in the right place to do so.

                      Falcons

                      Trade #1:

Falcons trade 4th round pick to the Jaguars for John Henderson.

The Falcons were looking for a DT to go along with Jerry and Babineaux, and we're really excited for what Henderson can bring. Last year we couldnt stop the run, Henderson will help out a lot and give Abraham and Ray Edwards 1 on 1 matchups.

                      Trade #2

Ray Edwards for Brent Grimes and a 4th

We're sad to see Grimes go, but we have confidence in the younger corners to step up and fill his void. We were looking to add a pass rusher opposite Abraham and Edwards can definately do that. We like his potential and with the addition of Henderson on the DL, he'll give us a great pass rush.

                      Trade #3

                      Thomas Decoud for Ben Leber

We thank DeCoud for what he did in Atlanta, but William Moore can fill his void and do a good job. We were looking to add a OLB and Leber is one of the top OLB's in the NFL and we're excited for what he can do in Atlanta.

                        Oakland Raiders

                        Overview:

When I was given the Raiders I thought to myself we'd have to have a complete makeover...well we did. We've brought in quality starters to change the attitude in this organization as well as bring in draft picks to help us acquire future superstars. My main goal is make this a physical football team. We're going to make this more of a power type run game and try to minimize the passing game so we can avoid mistakes (i.e. Interceptions). Something along the lines of 75% run and 25% pass. Now on defense, it all depends on who we're able to land in the draft. If we get the right players we're fully converting to a 3-4. If not, then we stay with the 4-3. After all is said and done, I expect this team to win through the trenches.

                        Analysis:

                        #1 - Raiders sign G Max Jean-Gilles for a 4rd (#103) draft pick

Like I mentioned, we are going to win with a run game. Jean-Gilles is will step in from Day 1 and start opening lanes for McFadden and Fargas. He's definitely an upgrade over ex Guard Cooper Carlisle and a 4th rounder wasn't much to give up for him. He's still young and has plenty of years remaining.

#2 - Raiders trade the 7th rd (#8) pick for QB Michael Vick

This was a no brainer. The Eagles were trying to get rid of him and I jumped. We'll give him a chance to start and if not, we'll find a use for him. I believe this was a steal.

#3 - Raiders trade a 3rd rd (#69) and G Cooper Carlisle for DT/DE Cullen Jenkins and S Atari Bigby

I was looking for a safety to start alongside up and coming Tyvon Branch. I asked the Packers and we were able to package a trade. Bigby is a hard hitting run stopping safety who will come in and help shore up our Run Defense. DT/DE Cullen Jenkins was also involved. I believe he can play either a 5 tech or a 2-3 tech. He's had some injuries in the past but he has the versatility I'm looking for.

#4 - Raiders trade DE Richard Seymour for the Ravens 1st rd (#29) draft pick

This trade is probably the most interesting. Seymour is a monster in the 3-4 but I believe he's on a decline in the upcoming year. He's 31 and this team isn't going to win a SB this year (We'll be fighting for the division though), so I felt like I would try to get back what we gave up for him. The Ravens were the only team that offered a 1st so I accepted.

#5 - Raiders trade DT Thomas Kelly for the Saints 6th rd draft pick and WR Devery Henderson

Kelly has been an under performer for a couple years now. He's gotten plenty of chances and nothing to show for. We believe if we draft a young DT we shoud be fine. WR Henderson is a #2. This last year WR Henderson really opened eyes. He's learning how to hold on to passes and of course his speed is really what stands out. Lets just say the Al Davis in me had something to do with this trade lol.

                        #6 - Raiders trade the 1st rd (#8), 2nd rd (#35), RB Michael Bush, and S Michael Huff for the Buccaneers 1st rd (#3), 2nd rd (#42) and 7th rd (#3)

In my eyes this was a steal. We moved up to the 3rd overall at the expense of a back up RB, back up S, and a couple spots in the second. RB Bush is injury prone and is mainly a goal line back. S Huff wasn't going to see playing time, so I thought about converting to CB to see how he'd do. Instead, the Bucs called and I couldn't resist. Hopefully he can start there. Moving down 7 spots in the second isn't a big deal. Its only 10 picks from a first so not much to worry about.

The 49ers original 5th round pick for C Kevin Mawae

For a 5th round pick, Kevin Mawae can come in and contest current center Eric Heitmann, even though Heitman is a leader and proven player. If Mawae were to win the job, Heitman then could always take over either guard duties while Chilo Rachal (RG) is groomed. At the very least, the 49ers get 1-2 years out of a Pro-bowl center for a 5th round draft choice. Mawae's knowledge can also help everybody on the line.

The 49ers 2nd round pick (from the Bills) and the 49ers 5th round pick (from the Bills) for OT Jason Peters.

We found that the offensive line was a crucial unit to address going into the off-season. We were delighted to hear when Peters went onto the trading block. The 49ers had a horrible RT last year who is best suited for a career backup. This way Peters can come in and command the LT spot while Joe Staley takes over the RT spot, which is said to be his most natural position.

The 49ers original 2nd round pick and LB Ahmad Brooks for the Bills 2nd round and 5th round selections and WR James Hardy.

Ahmad Brooks was an amazing player for the 49ers this past year racking up 6 sacks and 5 FF. We did though, see him as an expendable player in order to move up in the 2nd round, gain a 5th round pick, and acquire a young WR in James Hardy. James Hardy might have legal problems, but under Mike Singletary consider them gone. Hardy is a great possession receiver, something in which can give Alex Smith another weapon.

Overall I am happy with what I have accomplished in this off-season and can't wait for the draft!

Jason Whitlock recently sat down with Kansas City Chief owner, GirdironChamp,
to discuss this past offseason: (Only trade, 68th overall pick, 3rd round, for Greg Olsen TE)

Overall, how do you feel this offseason went?

Pretty good actually, we were able to land some guys in free agency that really
fit our system and the mold we want to create here in KC. We aren't huge in making
big deals that risk the future of the franchise for instant success, so we were
completely willing to sit back and wait for a great deal to come along... And the
one trade we did pull the trigger on did just that for us.

Clearly you're referring to the acquisition of Greg Olsen, how do you see him fitting
                            in?

Mr. Olsen is a fine young talent that has only gotten better and better each
year he has been in the league. He is a very capable blocker and everyone
knows of his receiving ability so we are just trying to surround Cassel with
as much talent as possible. We did regret having to give up our 3rd round
draft pick, 68th overall i believe, for him but he is only 25 and a first round
pick just a few years ago. I don't want to tip our hand too much, but Todd
and I are telling our families to get him in their fantasy leagues, haha.

                            You only made one trade, but you did sign a few larger names in free agency;
how do you see them fitting in?

Well not only did we sign a few guys but more importantly we resigned some
major parts of late year evolution. It all starts up front where we added Lilja
and Weigman to compete for starting jobs in our shift to a scheme requiring
a little bit smaller line that gets to the second level quicker. We are unsure
of the starting line up as of now across the line, but we expect both Ryan and
Casey to make an impact. Speaking of the offensive line, they have a new man
to block for; Thomas Jones. He should have a very good year as a change of
pace, so to speak, for Jamaal. Thomas will provide great leadership and character
for the young guys we have on this team, haha which is just about everyone.
Todd is very familiar with Mr. Urban and really pushed us to go after him and
assured us that he will provide solid play and then on the defensive side we
added Shaun [Smith] do our DL rotation. He should allow more fresh legs to
be on the field at all times. We really focused on character and signing OUR
guys this offseason, we may not have made the biggest splash, but we did
the little things that people will talk about later when they think back on it.

Can you share any of your draft strategies?

As far as our actual plan I can't let too much out, we tried to keep as many
draft picks as possible especially in the middle rounds in this deep class. We
know we still have a few holes to fill, but we should be able to cover them
                            here in a few days.

                            Thanks for the time GridironChamp.

No problem Jason, talk to you soon.
Club Leader: Robert Griffin III > Andrew Luck

                              The Chargers Offseason

hello friends. its me the chargers. here are my moves.

                              Trade #1
Chargers 3rd round pick for Clevelands NT Shaun Rogers and 6th round pick.

Reasoning: The Chargers run a 3-4 and lost their starting NT Jamal Williams to Denver. The run defense was poor in 2009 and i didnt want to go into the season with unproven players at NT. In my eyes, there is nothing worse then a defense that cant stop the run. So I wanted to trade for a proven fat boy and I thought Rogers fit the description. He is definently fat enough. His play fell in 09 due to injury but his 08 season was extremely good. were hoping he can return to his dominate 08 form.

                              Trade #2
Chargers 6th round pick acquired from Cleveland for Philly's RB Brian Westbrook.

Reasoning: Well 1 it was cheap. 2 The chargers lost LT and were going to start the season with Darren Sproles as the starting RB. I wanted a veteran of somekind. When healthy, Westbrook is a great runningback. He can do it all. He can definently run, but his ability to catch is what i like the most. I feel he can fit well with our team as the chargers like to use a lot of screen plays and passes to runningbacks.

                              Trade #3
Chargers 2nd round pick and 5th round pick for Patriots CB Leigh Bodden, RB Laurence Maroney, and a 4th round pick originally from Houston.

Reasoning: I tried hard not part ways with my 2nd round pick but in the end, i didnt have a choice. The Chargers lost Starting CB Cromartie to the Jets for a 2011 pick which doesnt help me at all in this game. All it does is put a hole at corner. Jammer is very solid and Cason is full of potential but after that, there isnt much depth. In my opinion Leigh Bodden is a very good Corner. He has great size and play making ability. Unlike Cromartie, Bodden is very good in run support. I feel like he can help us right away in both pass defense and run defense.
As for maroney, he's been up and down in his career with NE. He has had some very good games in New England but he also had injury problems. I think a new change of scenery can help and San Diego might be the right place for him. With only Westbrook and Sproles as my RB's, i wanted to add a more every down back. Or atleast someone that can play on first and second down. Maroney just turned 25, so he is young. In my opinion Maroney is a talented hybrid back who can run past or over defenders and possesses excellent moves.

and the 4th round pick is what ever. I needed some picks so im happy the pats gave me a pick.

                              the end.
