I still don't understand why McDaniels would take a project 3-4 DE in the first. It'll take years before Odrick produces.

Sounds like trading down is the ideal situation and might happen.
I see that you are a fan of drafting skill players.

But, I think the '3 DT' rule is a little too much of a generalization. Suh and McCoy will likely be drafted as 4-3 DTs, and Williams as a 3-4 NT. To me, those are different positions. As is the 3-4 DE. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see all three go in the top 10.

I agree that NT for a 3-4 and DT for 4-3 are different roles. I just think that there aren't any teams that would over look some of the more sexy pics. I could only see three teams that would take Williams; KC, Cleveland, and Buffalo. KC and Cleveland have invested in there DTs in recent offsesason's so I am crossing them off. That leaves Buffalo as the lone team to snag our future NT from us.

Here is my prediction of the top 10. Let me know what you think.

      Position Prediction

      2 DTs
      4 OTs
      2 QBs
      1 DE / Pass Rusher
      1 WR or RB

      Who is left out

      (S) E. Berry
      (ILB) R. McClain
(RB) C.J. Spiller or (WR) D. Bryant
      (NT) Dan Williams

In reality I am one of the few members on these boards that wants Pouncey at 11, so you have me mistaken.

The trade to Miami has altered what I think might happen on draft day though, not what I hope happens.

[QUOTE=Broncos Bassist;3239061]Thanks for rejecting my opinion out of hand and replacing it with your own. This team drafts with an eye to the future, luckily, and not in a reactionary manner. We signed three DL that are all north of 30. We need quality depth to groom for when they are gone. Not to mention Green's preference for rotating and not starting. Is Odrick the only target at 11? No, but he's a good one. I'd like to see him drafted because he'll be a good DE in my opinion, and would be thrilled if we moved back and could get him. But don't be surprised to see him go right around the 11th pick whether we take him or not.

          I guess it all depends on whether a 3-4 team is picking in that range who needs an end. It's all a guessing game bases on opinion. Thankfully mine isn't one that ultimately matters.[/QUOTE/}

So your telling me that DE is more of need than WR, G, or ILB? To my knowledge we have a couple DE that can play there parts. Might not be the best but theyre ok. We have starters there at DE. Why try developing a DE when we have nobody at WR. NOBODY at C/G. and nobody along DJ. Why not actually fix a problem that we actually need major help with. You say we need depth?? Hell we need starters first. WE dont have ANYBODY at the three positions i just said. and your talking about depth??

I can see why some aren't as high on Odrick as some of us others but I think Odrick is going to be a near All-Pro in a few years time. I'd really like for that to happen in Denver. If we can't get him at 11, then take Dez. Dez and Odrick are the best value for the cash at #11. In the unlikely event that both are gone at 11, then trade back for Dan Williams (who is overrated by this board due to our near decade long hole at DT) or trade back for Benn (yes in the first) or Pouncey.

Couldn't agree more... I am literally in love with Jared Odrick, and im sure McDaniels feels the same way. He is exactly the kind of player Josh covets. High motor, very versatile and a very team oriented with a great attitude.

Some people say thats a reach for him, but i think thats a load of crap... If anything, i think thats a steal for a guy like Odrick.

                  draft

I have come around to the idea of trying to trade down and taking Pouncey somewhere later in first round if possible. If we stay at 11 would settle for williams over other choices probably.

Chill out. I never said DE was a bigger need. I advocate taking either Williams or Odrick due to relative value. You can get a better WR, G, or ILB later in the draft than you can get a 3-4 DE. That's all I'm saying.

That's nonsense. He's never going to say 'we're going to draft Billy Bob at #11.' If you judged it by his press conference answers, we'd be looking to trade up to 1 to take Tebow.

                        Position Prediction

                        2 DTs
                        4 OTs
                        2 QBs
                        1 DE / Pass Rusher
                        1 WR or RB

                        Who is left out

                        (S) E. Berry

(RB) C.J. Spiller or (WR) D. Bryant
                        (NT) Dan Williams
I figure we're looking at the 2 DTs and 2 QBs for sure. 3 OT are safe money. You'll probably get one DE or OLB pass rush specialist, as you said. That's 8. If GMs were wise, you'd get that 4th OT, and probably either Williams or a dynamic WR or RB. Your breakdown is probably good, but I could see Berry replacing the 4th OT, and maybe Williams or even McClain taking the place of the WR/RB.

I guess I'm in the minority, because I'm gonna be severely pissed if we take a center with our first pick.

at 11, yes. Trade back to around 17-25 + at least a 3rd and pick Pouncey with our first and I'd kiss joshy on the mouth. :thumb:
