Your totally missing the big picture here! McDaniels went out and got us an offense that fits with HIS system! Plus the defense isnt as old as you might think. Yes we have plenty of 30+ defensive starters but we also have a lot of youth behind them learning and waiting for their chance to prove themselves...

    Robert Ayers- 24
    Elvis Dumervil- 26
    Chris Baker- 22
    Ryan McBean- 26
    Marcus Thomas- 24
    David Bruton- 22
    Darcel McBath- 24
    Alphonso Smith- 24
    Perrish Cox- 23
    Syd'Quan Thompson- 23
    Wesley Woodyard- 23
    DJ Williams- 27
    Le Kevin Smith- 27
    Tony Carter- 23
    Josh Barrett- 25
    Nate Jones- 27

Thats a lot of youth and potential for our "aging" defense. If McDaniels went out and drafted a bunch of defensive players we would still have to wait for them to produce in time. But he feels that we have enough talent on that side of the ball that we could afford to revamp our offense! :go:

You really think that this unit, as is, can lead this team to the division title, let alone a Super Bowl? With that group of defensive linemen, linebackers? That's even assuming that all of these key guys somehow manage to stay healthy (which is highly unlikely - it's football). This team needs A LOT of work on the defensive side of the ball, going beyond what was done during free agency. Thus far in the draft, that has not happened.

...Look at what this team needs right now.

Thank you. I was beginning to think I was the only Broncos fan who thought this way.

I like Bannan, that's a good signing, but both he and Green are 31 years old. You expect these guys, on top of Champ, Goodman, Dawkins, Hill, to not only stay healthy, but be around beyond 2 - 3 years from now? No way, and that's why you address such potential needs, depth, through the draft. Listen, I like the guys we took, but you can't say they were the best players available when they were taken. I like Tebow. But drafting a project QB in the first round is a luxury we really didn't have. Especially when that pick came at the expense of a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th round draft in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. The talent that was coming off the board in the mid-3rd was similar to what was available at the end of the first. Those picks could have gone a long way...
Once again, agree completely. Personally, though, I wish we would've stayed away from Tebow.

This also begs, why did we trade for Brady Quinn if the intent was to draft Tebow all along?

          Tebow

I think we are going backwards instead of forward with the siging of Tebow. I think coach McDaniels could have made a better choice in the draft. We have so many holes to be fill. I think McDaniels he fell in love with Mr.Tebow, regardless why, but he did. Nothing personally against Tebow but this man needs lots of mechanical work on his arm and teach him how to read defense.

Welp, thank goodness. Thought I might have been the only one in this boat who wasn't sippin' the orange Kool-Aid with pure optimism. I think it's ridiculous to blindly support a guy who isn't even doing things 'his way'. He's doing things in his own perception of 'Belichick's way', except he's throwing in his own egotistical priorities. Will it work? Maybe. I want to see this win, now. The foundation was set; he effectively blew it up, which is fine, so long as it improves the team. I just have a feeling it's going to take a lot of patience, and chances are this guy is out sooner rather than later.

Fair enough, at least you argue your point. That said, give me one good reason why I should think this team is actually going to win. Not only win, but compete for the division; compete for a Super Bowl. With this group of players? An aging defense, and a "re-tooled" offense, one that use to not only be young, but was already one of the most productive in the league? I like character guys, but I like winning more.

Look at who I bolded. What have you done for me lately? Who, aside from Dumervil and maybe Woodyard and Jones, has proven himself to be an effective NFL player, even as a reserve? Let alone a starter. That's being really optimistic. There's a reason why this defense looked TERRIBLE in the second half of last season. Adding a nickel CB, and a couple of past-their-prime defensive linemen isn't going to turn this team into a contender. Especially with the 'revamped' offense.

(first bold part) Ok I think everyone in the world knows that our defense is aging but does that really make them bad players? I know for a fact that I want Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins on my team as long as they are willing to play football! These guys define how football should be played.

(second bold part) How do you know that they arent going to help this football team? I know that everyone of those players is better than what we had last year. If they can hold up for the entire year there is no reason why we cant get hot and go on a run to the playoffs. Stranger things have happened in the NFL before!

Now I get what you are saying in a way but you can say that about almost any young and up-coming football team in the NFL. We need to give these players a chance to develop and learn the game of football. You gotta understand that the development wont come overnight. These guys need to live in the weight room and film room if they are going to get better. But I think instead of being pessimistic and telling everyone that we have no chance we all should just let the season play itself out and hope for the best. Me, you and everyone on this board are all fans of a team and should want nothing but the best for our team.

Now I'm not saying you dont have a right to wonder and worry but I know I'm going to hope for the best and cheer as hard as I can for our Broncos! :go:

I know everyone is up on Spikes but a LB who is declining in production every year worries me, especially after he shows up to the combine after gaining unneeded weight and running a 5.03. Most LB's run in the 4.8's.

I could see drafting him in the 4th and possibly even the 3rd but why draft him in the 2nd. He seems like to much of a risk. Its like his cousin Takeo he had 2 great years and that was it, and for a 1st rounder that doesnt seem like much he had 136 tackles in one year and was "Mr. Football". I am using him just as an example but I am saying he is over hyped.

I absolutely agree that these players need time to develop. There's no way they can be counted on if they can't. But when you have a pretty good foundation, as McDaniels did when he came in, and needed a couple of moves and tweaks to take the next step, you do that. Instead he blew up the foundation and started over so he could win his way. Now he may not get a chance because Broncos fans aren't used to a loser or rebuilding (though Bowlen may give him an extra year or two because of the circumstances in which he was hired). 2009 and now 2010 are the only seasons since I've been a fan (25 years) that I don't think we have a shot of getting to the playoffs. I don't want him to rebuild his way with the promise it will be better in the future. How did that work out for other teams? Redskins have been doing that for a decade, as have the 49ers. Where has it gotten them?

                        Thanx man!

I understand what you are saying but one thing you have to understand is that in the NFL anything can happen! The Dolphins go 1-15 and then turn around and go 11-5 and win their division. Who knows if this team can gel together and put together a magically run that takes us to the playoffs. I'm a fan first and foremost and I will always try to believe that my team can do it! I will be critical of my coach and the owner but i have to believe they are doing everything in their power to get this team where they need to be! Rome wasnt built in a day! The dynasty is coming! :go:

Don't get me wrong, I am going to cheer them on and the 4-5 games a year I get to see here in PA I will watch, cheer and wear my jerseys, but I don't feel good about this season or the near future.
