Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

I took an online version once and scored a 39. Not that I'm bragging. I actually thought it was completely absurd. It only really measures a very narrow type of intelligence, and would seem to me to have very little to do with a person's actual ability to learn and apply football concepts. The fact that Marino scored a 16 would seem to bare that out.
That it's timed is probably the only really useful aspect to it as that measures cognitive speed rather than actual intelligence. The ability to process information quickly is much more useful in football than the type of intelligence the Wonderlic measures.

In the NFL players need to read and dissect the opposite side of the field with speed and efficiency, due to the pace at which the game is played on this level.
In one sentence you say it measures cognitive speed, then in the very next sentence you say it's doesn't?
The Wonderlic measures intelligence in the same way SATs and IQ tests measure intelligence. I.e. not at all. What it does measure is your ability to apply algorithms quickly, so I guess if a player memorized the 'correct' responses to given situations it might be useful. That said, it seems like spacial reasoning, instinct, and muscle memory would be infinitely more important, so I guess I really don't see the point.
I took the Wonderlic for a in a job interview once. I do not know what I scored, but the fact I did not get the job prob means I did not do all that well.

Umm...no
What I was saying was that the type of intelligence it measures is pretty much useless as applied to football. Cognitive speed really isn't a type of intelligence so much as the speed at which one processes information.
As an example you have elite speed chess players and elite traditional chess players (who may take many minutes per move). As a general rule elite speed chess players are no where near the level of players elite traditional chess players are if they are playing at a normal pace. Conversely, once the game is sped up the speed chess players universally dominate. The speed with which one processes information is very different from the quality of said processing.
My point was that the only useful element of the Wonderlic was the timed element as it relates to the fast pace of the game of football, but that the actual type of intelligence measured is almost completely unrelated to the game football.

What kind of job was it for? In some cases they might not want too high a score.
Isnt the center like the QB for the Oline? Doesnt he have to read blitz packages, adjust protections, etc? He's gotta be smart. "Dumb jocks" are less and less prevalent in the NFL - the game has gotten so complicated.
They are the first to touch the ball. They are the ones who will generally recognize a need for a blocking shift. They have to be able to see problems in the blocking scheme and make adjustments. Really the C is a thinking mans position kinda like catcher, not much glory but a team falls apart without them. Walton is a great C to have intelligent a leader durable and skilled. He has one poblem and thats the fact that he has maxed out his frame and he isnt the most smooth blocker with a limited initial kick. Still I think he is a good future Bronco

How do Myron Rolle not score the highest. He is a Rhode Scholar!! That makes no sense, but congrats to Eric Decker.
Seriously, go look at one of these tests. They're so stupid I'd pretty much just look at it, be insulted, answer the easy ones and leave the rest blank.
