  • My Denver Broncos 2010 Final 53 man roster and 2010 Depth Chart - An Early Look

The numbers by the position is how many we carried into last season.

I am only really cutting players who are the popular pick to be cut, I will research it properly nearer TC, this is just to give us all an idea of what the battles might be in TC.

I know we picked up some UFA's and maybe they make the roster, especially Marinelli who I like and the good TE and RB we picked up (can't remember the names) but I haven't included them here as its a long shot for them to make the final 53 and I may add them nearer to TC when things look a little clearer as to who are still here and any players we may of picked up in FA.

    Quarterbacks - 3

    3 Brandstater, Tom QB 6-5 220
    8 Orton, Kyle QB 6-4 217
    9 Quinn, Brady QB 6-3
    15 Tebow, Tim QB 6-3

So which one of these 4 go ? I think that Orton is a lock as he is on a pretty cheap one year tender and knows the offense very well. Tebow is obviously a lock. I know many will say that Brandstater will be cut but I’m not too sure, I think he and Brady Quinn will battle it out for the final QB spot. I heard reports that we are quite high on Brandstater and cutting Quinn would not cost much in terms of money and in what we gave up. I think ultimately Quinn will be kept as the #3 and Brandstater will go to the PS where he should stay there without getting poached by someone else.

    ORTON / TEBOW / QUINN
    P.S. - BRANDSTATER

    Running Backs - 4

    31 Arrington, J.J. RB 5-9 212
    35 Ball, Lance RB 5-9 220
    28 Buckhalter, Correll RB 6-0 217
    42 Hall, Bruce RB 5-11 205
    27 Moreno, Knowshon RB 5-11 217

Well, we seem to be one man too heavy here as well. Moreno is obviously a lock and I think Buck is as well. Arrington will have to show in TC that he can stay healthy and that the year off has not hurt him too much, the pre-season games might be very important to him, I believe his value as a good blocking/receiving 3rd down back and emergency K/P R will earn him a roster place.

So the final place is between Lance Ball and Bruce Hall. I don’t know much about either but after doing a little research it seems that Lance could be a nice power back and is hitting the weights hard this offseason to give it a real good go in TC. They could both be cut or PS and the UFA we brought in (can’t remember name) could get that 4th spot, maybe a veteran? For now I’ll take Lance to get it.

MORENO / BUCKHALTER / ARRINGTON / LANCE BALL
PS / CUT – BRUCE HALL

    Wide Receivers - 6

    Decker, Eric WR 6-2 215
    10 Gaffney, Jabar WR 6-1 200
    84 Lloyd, Brandon WR 6-0 194
    11 McKinley, Kenny WR 6-0 182
    19 Royal, Eddie WR// 5-10 182
    14 Stokley, Brandon WR 5-11 192
    Thomas, Demaryius WR 6-3 229
    12 Willis, Matt WR 6-0 195

I think D-Thomas, Gaffney and Royal are locks. Eric Decker should be in as well, and I think Stokely will make the final roster. So that leaves one place between Lloyd, McKinley and Willis. Willis is the real underdog here and I get a feeling we like Lloyds deep play ability. I’m not convinced McKinley progressed much as a receiver or as a returner and now we are stacked at returner I think McKinley could be gone.

    THOMAS / ROYAL / GAFFNEY / STOKELEY / DECKER / LLOYD
    CUT – MCKINLEY / WILLIS

    Tight Ends - 3
    85 Branson, Marquez TE 6-3 248
    89 Graham, Daniel TE 6-3 257
    81 Quinn, Richard TE 6-4 264
Should be these 3, Branson can play FB as well.

    GRAHAM / QUINN / BRANSON

    Offensive Line - 9

    78 Batiste, D'Anthony RT 6-4 314
    78 Clady, Ryan LT 6-6 325
    62 Fry, Dustin C 6-3 326
    74 Harris, Ryan RT 6-5 300
    71 Hochstein, Russ LG 6-4 305
    73 Kuper, Chris RG 6-4 302
    60 McChesney, Matt RG 6-4 307
    Olsen, Eric C 6-4 305
    70 Olsen, Seth C 6-5 305
    76 Polumbus, Tyler LT 6-8 310
    Walton, J.D. C 6-3 305
    Beadles, Zane RT 6-4 310
Clady, Harris, Beadles, Hochstein, Kuper, Eric Olsen, Seth Olsen are locks. Fry, McChesney and Batiste look to be the 3 odd men out.

    CLADY / HARRIS / KUPER / E.OLSEN / S.OLSEN / WALTON / HOCHSTEIN / POLUMBUS / BEADLES
    CUT – FRY / BATISTE / MCCHESNEY

    Defensive Line - 7

    75 Baker, Chris NT 6-2 298
    94 Bannan, Justin DLE 6-3 310
    91 Fields, Ronald NT 6-2 315
    93 Green, Jarvis DRE 6-3 285
    98 McBean, Ryan DLE 6-5 290
    97 Smith, Le Kevin DRE 6-3 308
    79 Thomas, Marcus DRE 6-3 305
    76 Williams, Jamal NT 6-3 348

I really believe that Thomas will be cut, he is pretty poor and is at last chance saloon this TC.

    WILLIAMS / FIELDS / BAKER / BANNAN / MCBEAN / SMITH
    CUT - THOMAS

    Linebackers - 9

    58 Atkins, Baraka LOLB 6-4 268
    56 Ayers, Robert LOLB 6-3 272
    51 Ayodele, Akin LB 6-2 245
    92 Dumervil, Elvis ROLB 5-11 260
    57 Haggan, Mario LILB 6-3 263
    52 Kelley, Braxton RILB 6-0 226
    Kirlew, Jammie LB 6-3 264
    46 Larsen, Spencer RILB 6-2 240
    94 Moss, Jarvis ROLB 6-6 265
    95 Reid, Darrell LOLB 6-2 270
    55 Williams, D.J. RILB 6-1 242
    59 Woodyard, Wesley LILB 6-1 212

So three are going to be cut. I think time is up for Moss, Kelley will probably be gone and there may be no room for Atkins. I’m not sure if Griesen is still here, I think he is, but he will not make the final roster either.

    AYERS / DUMERVIL / HAGGAN / DJ WILLIAMS / KIRLEW / REID / WOODYARD / LARSEN / AYODELE
    CUT – ATKINS / MOSS / KELLEY

    Secondary - 9

    24 Bailey, Champ LCB 6-0 192
    36 Barrett, Josh SS 6-3 225
    30 Bruton, David SS 6-2 205
    25 Carter, Tony RCB 5-9 166
    Cox, Perrish CB 6-0 195
    20 Dawkins, Brian FS 6-0 210
    21 Goodman, Andre' RCB 5-10 190
    23 Hill, Renaldo SS 5-11 205
    33 Jones, Nate RCB 5-10 185
    31 McBath, Darcel FS 6-0 198
    22 Smith, Alphonso LCB 5-9 193
    Thompson, Syd'Quan CB 5-9 187

The three who go will be Carter, Barrett and..............Thompson. I like Thompson but there’s no room for him. Cox and Bruton are very good ST players.

    BAILEY / GOODMAN / JONES / SMITH / COX / DAWKINS / HILL / MCBATH / BRUTON
    CUT – CARTER / BARRETT / THOMPSON

    Special Teams – 3

    Prater, Matt K 5-10 188
    4 Colquitt, Britton P 6-3 205
    6 Trapasso, A.J. P 5-11 225
    66 Paxton, Lonnie LS 6-2 260

Prater and Paxton are locks. I like Colquitt as a punter and believe he will win the starting job.

    PRATER / COLQUITT / PAXTON
    CUT – TRAPASSO

    Denver Broncos 2010 Depth Chart

Good list for the most part. The one that caught my eye was Josh Barrett. He seemed to play really well for us last year. I'd be surprised if he's gone. Unless Cox really impressed in camp, I'd expect he's a better candidate for the practice squad with Barrett making the final 53.

Good list, nothing too surprising other than Thomas and Barrett. Although i think Barrett makes the team somehow, he is too good on special teams and has promise as a physical safety.

Fair point but Cox adds value on ST's.

I also think he might get snapped up from our PS and that would also mean we would have just 4 corners and 5 safeties when it should be the other way round.

None of our 4 safeties can transition to corner either

You don't think any of our undrafted rookie free agents have a shot at sniffing the roster?

TBH it would of been too time consuming to add them all after looking them up, espeically as we are still signing ppl probably.

I doubt any UDFA made the final 53 last year after TC and I can't see who they would beat out from my list, although there are always surprises.

They could stick on the PS though if they impress

One UDFA made the 53 man roster last year - Chris Baker.

It's doubtful, but I could see an UDFA making the roster at 3rd TE (beat out Branson), 4th RB (Beat out Ball & Hall), backup swing tackle (beat out Polumbus), and even possibly 4th OLB (Reid out with his bum knee, beat out Moss)

All good points and very possible, although I don't think Reid will be out for that long. Hopefully back during TC.

Baker I forgot about but he was an exception, 2nd round talent that fell due to character issues, and we had a big DL need, espeically youth.

                          WILLIAMS / FIELDS / BAKER / BANNAN / MCBEAN / SMITH
                          CUT - THOMAS

So three are going to be cut. I think time is up for Moss, Kelley will probably be gone and there may be no room for Atkins. I’m not sure if Griesen is still here, I think he is, but he will not make the final roster either.

                          AYERS / DUMERVIL / HAGGAN / DJ WILLIAMS / KIRLEW / REID / WOODYARD / LARSEN / AYODELE
                          CUT – ATKINS / MOSS / KELLEY

                          Thompson, Syd'Quan CB 5-9 187

The three who go will be Carter, Barrett and..............Thompson. I like Thompson but there’s no room for him. Cox and Bruton are very good ST players.

                          BAILEY / GOODMAN / JONES / SMITH / COX / DAWKINS / HILL / MCBATH / BRUTON
                          CUT – CARTER / BARRETT / THOMPSON

                          66 Paxton, Lonnie LS 6-2 260

Prater and Paxton are locks. I like Colquitt as a punter and believe he will win the starting job.
