You must mean Toney Baker. His knee finally looked good the end of this year. If he stays healthy he could be very good for a long time. I think he will struggle to make the team this year though, unless we keep 4. If that happens those 4 could be Moreno, Buckhalter, Brown, and Baker. Unless you meant tebow but McD will never do that.

LOL yeah sorry I meant Baker although to be honest many think Geer could make the transition to H-Back or FB but they said the same about Branson

          blocking TE

I have to say that I've pondered the TE position at length and my feeling is that McDaniels likes TEs who can block. I like Branson and McDaniels seems to like him, too, but he's a pass receiving type from what I've heard (and I'd be interested if anyone knows differently). Riar Geer was on the fringe of being draftworthy (#287 on CBS), but his big advantage over the others is in blocking.

It's an interesting question. I'm a little surprised that we didn't draft a TE, and I wondered when we moved Scheffler whether the next TE would fill the same role. My guess is that whoever fills role will have to block proficiently, and his pass catching abilities will probably fit into the power forward mold more than the seam route running mold. Someone who gain body position in the red zone or sit down in the soft spot of a zone is what we're probably looking for.

I'd actually prefer keeping Branson as a FB if he can make the transition, although it's questionable whether we'd be any more likely to keep him as a FB rather than a TE if he can't block proficiently. I'm not pleased with the 4th RB, and that's another position that I'm surprised that we didn't fill. I'd expected them to find a big back somewhere (they're not hard to find), and speculation about moving the FBs and TEs back in forth are as salient now as when they started last year. My gut feeling is that H-back type who can block would provide us with what we need.

I see that McDaniels is praising Branson so we'll see.
