They passed on Clausen at #30. They're obviously fine with their backup QB's. I see no reason why they'd want to add Orton.

Orton for Gerhardt straight up. I'd take it in a heartbeat. Yes, I know that means we'll suck this year, but I don't think we're a playoff team as it stands anyway, so why not?

Hell, folks on here calling for him to start? lmao!! The urban meyer option/run doesn't work against NFL Lb's. I hope for the teams sake he is great, but to say "he's our man" is a joke so far.
I wasn't pleased with selecting him at first either, but after listening to him speak and watching him play, I no longer think it was a bad move. I am glad Tebow is a Bronco.

I agree that he SHOULD NOT start right away. I want to develp him slowly like SD did with Rivers. Coach him up for a couple of years and let him learn how to be a pro quarterback.

One more point. None of the QB's on our roster are "trash."

I actually like Orton. He's a smart QB. Didn't he have a ton of throws without INT's last season??

Orton isn't going to the Vikings. They just sign their old quaterback last week. His name is Tarvais Jackson. They are going to use him.

what people seem to forget is that tarvaris jackson had a qb rating over 95 and played great down the stretch in 2008 when gus frerrotte got hurt

I think we have a shot at gettin Kevin Williams if they really want a trade, but its not like Sage cant play

Sage is pretty garbage. At best he's a back up QB. He was trash in Houston.

how about we trade orton some one plus like two future 7th round picks. if we keep at this enough, people will have to deal with so much spin off draft picks and players from the cutler deal that eventually, they'll stop caring.

No way this trade happens, it just doesn't make sense on the Vikings behalf. They have an average QB in Jackson that already knows the offense, why bring in another average QB that doesn't know the offense? Really, it's bad for both teams. Denver would have to rely on a QB, regardless of how good they are, that doesn't know the offense, I don't think that McD wants to go through back to back headache/teaching seasons with a new QB.

                          Good point BUT...

McD has consistently got WAY more than market value for almost every trade he has made.

                          Arizona got a 3rd and a 4th, for Boldin and a 5th.
Pittsburgh got a 5th for Holmes.
and McDaniels got two 2nds for Marshall...

And we all know he got a $#IT load of picks for cutler...
If anyone can get a good deal for Orton, it's McDaniels..

They already have Sage, who already knows the system and has at least some work with the team.

Meanwhile, we'd be left without a starting QB and someone who had never taken a regular season snap with us before. We'd be back to square one like we were last season.

                            It's not happening.

again, this is just food for thought. no matter what happens. there is no way all 4 guys stay on our roster for very long.

Trade them Tebow for a first and Gerhart.

I agree, then all the groupies can flood the Viking's forum.
