I think you put Tom on practice squad and he becomes part of active roster next year.
Why bring in a new guy next year when you have one who will have been trained in your system for 2 years.
Next year there is a real possibility Orton will leave via free agency, I would, He will probably get a better offer and be a starter somewhere else and the writing is on the wall here. Also, there is no saying Quinn will be a long term prospect here, Tim was 1st round so logic says he will be a starter within a couple of years that leaves Quinn as back up here, he also might be able to start somewhere else. Tom can easily be 3 or 2 on active roster within a year or 2 and he will have a couple of years under his belt in system. If you want value for the player we are better off trading Orton now and moving on but the problem with that is very young Oline and Orton has more experience in league and system none of others have any game experience in system. So, we probably keep him one more year.My Boss is a Jewish Carpenter

Check the transactions. Ryan carried two quarterbacks on the active roster late in the season.Last edited by Jay3; 05-01-2010, 12:54 PM.

Its been done before ESPN was saying how several teams in history have carried 4 QB's one of them was the Pats when they one the SB in Tom's first year
To be honest I think 3 is to much having more then 2 on the list is wasted space. I like having an emergency QB, which is usually a WR who was converted from QB. Which is why I wanted Armanti Edwards who was projected in the 6th or 7th round but Carolina drafted him in the 3rd. If they were thinking of using him as a QB they would be going into the pre-season with 5 QB's
* 14 Hunter Cantwell
* 2 Jimmy Clausen
* 3 Matt Moore
* 16 Tony Pike

I just wish he could have gotton into the games against Washington and San Diego last season over Simms,maybe we would have made the playoffs,i guess we will never know that.

I keep calling Tom the Rodny Dayngerfield of our QB's. We have a few clues as to what Josh might be thinking, but it really is confusing with every thing that has been happening with respect to the QB position.
Whenever Tom's name has come up in a news conference, Josh has made complimentary statements about Tom. However, if you look at game play you don't find much.
As I have indicated that might simply be because of the 3rd string rule and they might have lost him if they had put him on the PUP squad. I think Josh kept him on the roster, because of what happened to both Orton and Simms in preseason and he knew he could use the 3rd string rule. Josh feared reinjury of his primary QB's.
Lately when Josh talks about Tom he is generally talking about him being in the building. I would assume that means more than just in the weight room. I'm beginning to wonder if may be Tom is working his way into some kind of administrative position with the Bronco's like helping Josh put together the plays/playbook for the new season.
From everything I have heard Tom is a workaholic and loves football. He is very intelligent and was an excellent student. If you think about it he has a lot in common with Josh. Tom went to a non-name school in a lot of people's eyes and loved the game. Josh knew he wasn't going to play big time ball, but he wanted to be involved in football. Has Josh convinced Tom to do the same thing? Just a thought I have no first hand evidence.
We had one report claiming Tom might be better than a lot of people think. It is possible, because when Tony was released Josh indicated we had a player who has been working very hard that most have not seen. Josh indicated that person was more than an adequate replacement for Tony.
As some one pointed out Quinn is really in an odd position like Tom. If you look at trade value Tom has none, but Quinn does. As it stands now, if you believe all of the posters, Quinn is going to be at best a backup QB. I would think that is not what Quinn has in mind.
My personal feeling is that nothing is going to happen for a period of time, because they may well be worried about the injury bug. A lot can happen on any given day in the game of football.
We may not see any movement until after the OTAs or TC. People will get their reps and evaluations will be made. The press and Josh will start talking about what they are seeing and who are getting reps. I suspect then we will have a better idea.
Perhapes a team will lose a QB and want some one like Quinn or Orton. If the price is right, I would venture Josh would move either player if he is comfortible with his future QB. That could be either Brady, Tim, or Tom.Last edited by IbarHarry; 05-02-2010, 10:56 AM.

Because I see Brandstater more as a natural #3 guy than either Quinn or Orton. (I'm purposely leaving Tebow out because he's going to get his shot at moving up, sooner or later. So I'm removing him and imagining which of the other three I would envision leaving).Canadian Denver Bronco Fan Club #60

Here's the Jets practice squad if you don't believe me:
William Perlman/The Star-Ledger Fullback Jehuu Caulcrick was one of eight players signed to the Jets practice squad. The Jets signed eight players to their practice squad Monday. All of the players spent time with the team during training camp....
Mark Sanchez, Kellen Clemmons, Erik Ainge, and Kevin O'Connell = 4 QBs, they were all on the roster last year, and not on the practice squad.
