  • Bills Steal Joique Bell

This man has the best lateral quickness of any draft prospect this year. His quickness in changing direction was 2nd only to Jahvid Best. He is a pure cut back whose amazing ability was overshadowed by the fact he was a small school prospect. He went undrafted and is now on the Bills who also have C.J. Spiller the 2nd best speed back next to Jahvid Best.

It is no secret Jahvid was the best combo speed/cut back to come out of the draft since Sanders and if he was not plagued by injuries he would have been the top back. Still with the combined effort of Spiller and Bell we may see one of the best cut and dash combos in the NFL. Still with so many RB on the roster someone will be cut.

Bell was the leader at the long shuttle at the combine and the 2nd best 3 cone runner. Which only shows that he was one of the best dancers out there. So I ask how dangerous does this make the Bills?

Based on the rest of their team, assuming these backs actually pan out? Not very. They still have issues all over their offense, and their defense isn't that great either. Sorry to say a couple of shifty backs aren't going to fix their problems.
Only fools bet against Tim Tebow.

    Team Tebow #108

    Yards, without points, mean nothing.

Not to mention stacking the box because of no passing threat, and the only person worth mentioning on the O-line is Eric Wood a 2nd year center who is coming off a broken leg, Buffalo say hello to the 2011 1st Overall

Good point I just wanted to point out the fact that they some how got the best speed back in the draft and then nabbed the best pure cutter. If they had added John Conner they would have gotten the full package.

Personally I dont think Spiller will be that great you need good blocking to be an effective speed back and as you said they have to many issues. Heck I wouldnt be shocked if as a cut-back Bell has a bigger upside.

Personally I liked Montario Hardesty who seems to be a great every down combo back like Moreno but has better size, speed and lateral quickness, with almost similar turn speed and slightly less endurance not to mention less success. Granted he has issues blocking but he is a good receiver. To bad for him he went to Cleveland.

I live in Buffalo and let me just say that I doubt he will make the team. Even if he does, he would be by far the worst on the team. Spiller is the real deal. I don't know how you can honestly think Best is better. There is no chance he is better. Spiller has versatility and explosiveness that can only compare to Chris Johnson's and he is a stronger runner than Best. Spiller has superstar potential. I wouldn't be shocked if he was the second coming of Johnson. Best is not even close to Barry Sanders either. The number 2 back is Fred Jackson who would be the best back on our team. He isn't as fast and explosive as Spiller, but he is still pretty fast and explosive. He has great moves and just seems to glide on the field like Jamaal Charles. He also has great hands, is a solid blocker, and can even throw the ball. What proves that Buffalo has the best trio of backs in the league is the fact that Marshawn Lynch, a former Pro Bowler who is still in his prime, is the 3rd back. He is very strong and hard to bring down. He almost never goes down on first contact. He is also fairly quick and explosive and has solid hand. His biggest issue is patience. It seems that he runs right into his blockers quite a bit instead of waiting for them to get on their blocks. I don't think Bell will make the team. I don't mean to sound like a jerk and shut you down. This is just my honest opinion.

Actually the Bills defense has some good pieces in place. They still need to pan out, but they have lots of potential. Their secondary is one of the best in the league. It's both deep and talented and it's still young. Jarius Byrd and Leodis McKelvin could both be studs. Byrd was a ballhawk last year and will only get better. McKelvin has played very well when he's healthy. The problem is he's hurt a good amount of time. If he can stay healthy, he has Pro Bowl potential. He has shutdown ability and has good ball skills. He's also a great return man. Terrence McGee is also a very good corner when healthy and Drayton Florence is a great 3rd corner. Even 4th corner Reggie Corner (ironic) is solid. They also have 3 solid safeties besides Byrd. Aaron Schobel is a great pass rusher and is solid against the run. He's been moved to outside linebacker for the 3-4. Opposite him is last year 11th pick, Aaron Maybin. He barely showed anything last year, but he has enormous potential. His burst off the snap is absolutely elite. He just needs to put it together. Paul Posluszny is a very good linebacker. He is good against the run and is fluid in coverage too. Andra Davis is a run stuffer at the other inside spot. They have Dwan Edwards who we might've had if he would've passed his physical. He could be very good. At the other end spot is Marcus Stroud who is still a good player. He's very big and strong and has solid quickness. Spencer Johnson is a backup with great athleticism who can make an impact. They alsol drafted Alex Carrington in the 3rd round, who has the athleticism to be a stud end. They drafted Torell Troup in the 2nd to be their nose. He has good potential. Kyle Williams is also a solid backup. Overall, their defense has the potential to be very good. They're not good on offense, but they have some pieces. They have the best trio of backs in the league with Spiller, Fred Jackson, and Lynch. Lee Evans is a great receiver with explosive ability. They have a pair of guards in Andy Levitre and Eric Wood who had good rookie seasons and could both be studs. If they develop and play to their potential, they will have one of , if not the best pair of guards in the league. They still have some huge needs like QB and left tackle though. They will probably be picking in the top 5 next year and will have the chance to draft Locker, Mallett, Luck, or Ponder as the franchise QB. They will probably then address the left tackle in the 2nd round. They have some players and could easily turn it around in 2-3 years.

I could easily see them with the number 1 pick next year, but they do have some really good pieces in place to turn it around in 2-3 years after a good draft next year. Wood actually plays guard and showed lots of potential, as did fellow rookie guard Andy Levitre who was arguably better than Wood.

I do agree with you on Hardesty. I really like him and would've loved to see us get him in the 3rd. He has franchise back potential.

I don't think we're in disagreement. They have talent here and there, but they also have gaping holes in various key spots. They just aren't a good team at the moment. They certainly have potential to improve but right now they just aren't very good, and as this all relates to the question of "how dangerous" they might be with their new running backs I maintain my original statement: not very.

Yes. I think we both realize they have some pieces in place to be good in a few years but they're not good as of right now. 2 new backs doesn't make them a contender. They have some big holes that they still need to fill before they can make a run at the playoffs.

Yes for one I think they needed a new QB Edwards is not the answer. Although maybe one more year will prove otherwise. Although being 28th in sacks last year didnt help. I think drafting Spiller in the first was a mistake for them.

30th in Passing vs. 16th in Rushing

They have a great secondary but are horrible at stopping the run. I dont think Spiller was the best pick.

True, but the Bills FO mentioned several times that Spiller was #1 on their overall draft board, and didn't think he would fall to them. Thats why their pick came in so fast
Just a diehard Broncos Fan trying to make it living in Charger/Raider country (SoCal)

LOL yeah the Bills love being of the defensive lately lol jk. I think Bell has better potential then Spiller. Hes got great size and he makes people miss better then any healthy back in the game. He isnt good in open field but he is a guy who is hard to take down.

I dont care if he is a small school back rushing 3 1000+ yard years in a row including the 2000+ yard year he had this year is hard and he given the chance he is going to be dangerous.

Unfortunately taking a RB in the top ten rarely pays off.
