Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Without Lloyd we would be much worse this year IMO. You don't trade a WR who has great hands and balance - especially when is practically your only deep threat.
It's trading away proven talent that got us in this mess. Yes this team has holes, but trading away one of the few play makers on this team will likely make us worse.
My argument is not based on age, but future potential... I believe Lloyd (as well as Orton) has benefited tremendously from playing in this specific system. I say we trade him now (as well as Orton) while they have somewhat inflamed stats... Now judging by the way teams seem to be very apprehensive trading draft picks for players i would expect something along the lines of...
a 2nd/early 3rd and a higher (2-4) conditional pick based on stats in 2012 for Orton
and
a 3rd and a lower (3-5) conditional pick in 2012 for Lloyd
Both of these guys have been great for us this year, but they are not the future of this organization. We spent both of our first round picks on a QB and a WR last year, and they will get a chance to start.
First off, Lloyd isn't the beneficiary of this system, that would be the case if the guy was just catching easy passes across the middle all day long. Instead, the guy is making circus like catches every week and is a true deep threat.
Second, it is important in this league to have depth and we have that right now at the WR position. Demaryius Thomas may be our first round pick, but the guy has shown a tendency to get injured, so I wouldn't bank on him being your #1 receiver just yet. That being said, there are several Wide Receivers on the field at the same time, there's no need to trade Lloyd.
If anything, you try to get Gaffney the ball more going forward to up his trade value and trade him for a late round pick. Going into next season, that would give you Lloyd, D Thomas, Royal, and Decker as your top receivers.

I agree, with this those 4 plus Mathew Willis is strong enough for us to into next season feeling good about the WR position. I like Gaffney and I think he has been solid for us and give us a bit of experience and reliability but if we are to trade any receiver then I think he should be the one.

Everybody thought we'd be horrible after we traded Marshall, and yet our O is almost the exact same as it was last year. Now you're telling me that Lloyd is so untouchable and elite that you'd rather keep him than try and get as many picks and fill the gaping holes on our defense? I'm guessing you'd say the same thing after Ashley Lelie's break out year.
Instead of trading Lloyd, I would give him a big money 4 year extention. Then I would cut Gaffney in order to put DT in the starting flanker position and keep Royal in Slot and give Decker more Reps. Then draft a best WR available late to compete with Willis for 5th and 6th WR spot. Gaffney is not a good run blocker and the only reason he has been an asset to this team is because he can play any WR position in our Offense. I believe his time as a Bronco has ran its course. Lock up Lloyd and lets keep on building with youth.

Did you ever think that maybe Mcd was willing to let Marshall go because he knew what kind of WR he had on the roster in Brandon Lloyd?
Brandon Lloyd is not going to bring us an early round draft pick after 1 good season, he's just not.
Santonio Holmes went for a 5th, and he is a Super Bowl MVP.
What kind of draft pick do you think Lloyd is going to draw that is really going to help fill holes on this team?
Do you expect that we are going to get a dominant D-Line player in rounds 4-7? That's highly unlikely.
It baffles me that the mentality around here has turned into 'let's trade away anybody who has a breakout year.' Ya because that will help you build a solid football team.
There's not many Wide Receivers in this league that can make these types of catches:
Obviously I don't expect a huge pick from Lloyd, but if we can get multiple picks for him than I'm all for it. The team's biggest deficiency is young talent, and once guys like Champ, Dawk, Goodman, Hill and Jamall Williams leave, things won't be pretty. We've already gotten a promising young corner in cox in the 5th round, nab a couple more young talents in the draft this year and we will have a balanced, developing core of talented players.

I feel to many people are caught up in the size factor with players. Just because a player physically meets up to standards doesn't mean talent wise they do. If Jake Locker had come out last year he would have been the number 1 overall pick, why because physically he is the ideal QB. It happens all the time. Now im not saying size isnt important, but its to much of a deermining factor. Talent is more important than size.
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
I don't know and I don't care
I agree with you but I value strength most for just about every position. Usually bigger guys are stronger which is why I tend to like players that are bigger than normal. I've already stated that my ideal 3-4 D-Line would have 2 320 DEs and at least a 350 NT. I just want the team to physically dominate people.
