J.J. Watt reminds me quite a bit of Justin Smith actually which is a great thing as Smith is arguably the best 3-4 DE in the league right now. But it'll take some work for him to get there.

I said arguably and it would be because Smith is a much better pass rusher and still a great run defender. Ngata is an elite run defender but not the best pass rusher although he has improved this year to get more money.Comment

Tom Zbikowski
Does any have any opinions on him? Personally I'd love to trade a 3rd round pick (Ravens would probably want more) for Zbi. He's a hard hitter, A KR/PR, an awesome SS (Took Ed Reed's spot the first 6 wks and didn't miss a stride), he plays to this whistle, he boxed in college and does boxing in the offseason to keep up his hand/eye coordination, footwork, and mental toughness. This guy is an all around stud, and I believe he will be a thousand times than any safety coming out this year. Lets get him and sign him for 10 years!Comment

He is a core part of their D and a leader in the defensive backfield, not to mention their punt returner. I doubt they'd let him walk...
...would be nice to snag him though.sigpic

Trade lloyd sooner than later
I've been really impressed with Lloyd's production this year, but if we are serious about filling the holes on this team, than the smartest move would be to trade him after the season, while is stock is at its highest, and get as many picks as we can.
Now I know many of you are gonna say "why trade lloyd when he's been our best player and the best wr this season???" Well, seeing how we have the deepest wr core in the league, and how we already have spent a first rounder on Deymarious Thomas to be our future star wideout, Lloyd would be our most expendable trade asset. Also, think about this, Lloyd is going to be thirty years old next season. The track record for wideouts, let alone nfl players, after they turn thirty is not good to say the least. And lets not forget the fact that lloyd was a nobody next year, and thanks to this pass heavy offense he is putting up freakish stats. Whos to say that royal, gaffney, thomas or decker can't put up a similar breakout year next year?Comment

I was too. I'm a huge Notre Dame fan, and this was by far the biggest player I wanted on the Broncos (even over Brady Quinn). I would be willing to give up as high as a 2nd rounder if they'd take it. Zibby seems like one of those sure fire players for years to come, but with the decline of Ed Reed taking place, they'll probably not give him up for less than a 2nd and a 4th, which I would be willing to trade for him. But we all know Mc"I love offense but won't call decent plays for Orton"Daniels won't do it, he'll just make some trades for more draft picks and waste them on 3 WRs or something.
After saying that, I don't see how he could POSSIBLY mess this draft up. We obviously need D help, and if he goes offense in the 1st or 2nd (unless its Kyle Rudolph) he should be smacked. The only first round pick I could see him getting an backlash for (and it would be very LITTLE backlash) would be taking Patrick Peterson, whom I personally want us to take and a lot of you on these boards want as well. Peterson, Cox, Zbikowski, Champ secondary = SCARY!Last edited by Af Blue; 12-04-2010, 09:10 AM.Comment

I don't think we'll get elite compensation for him because he's a bit of a one year wonder with us. If I had to guess, I'd say we'd get a 3rd and a 5th for him.RESTORE THE ORANGE CRUSH!!!!

That's my favorite arguement for trading Lloyd:
"He's gonna be old and his production will drop off"
Well, even if it were true that WR's dropped off the map after 30, do you think you're smarter than 31 other NFL teams? If it were true, do you think they haven't thought about that?
Cracks me up.sigpic

My argument is not based on age, but future potential... I believe Lloyd (as well as Orton) has benefited tremendously from playing in this specific system. I say we trade him now (as well as Orton) while they have somewhat inflamed stats... Now judging by the way teams seem to be very apprehensive trading draft picks for players i would expect something along the lines of...
a 2nd/early 3rd and a higher (2-4) conditional pick based on stats in 2012 for Orton
and
a 3rd and a lower (3-5) conditional pick in 2012 for Lloyd
Both of these guys have been great for us this year, but they are not the future of this organization. We spent both of our first round picks on a QB and a WR last year, and they will get a chance to start.sigpic
