  • Rebuilding the front office

Well, the incident today was embarrassing to me, so I am moving on from Josh.

So here is my plan (I know you can't wait lol)

GM - Marc Ross: Interviewed last year for Seattle's GM spot

Love the way the Giants draft and go about their business in dealing with free agency. Very rarely do you see a bad contract on that team. Most importantly, the team takes turnover in personnel and coaches in stride.

Ross is the director of college scouting since 2007, producing these starting players:

RB Ahmad Bradshaw, TE Kevin Boss, SS Kenny Phillips, CB Terrell Thomas, WR Mario Manningham, WR Steve Smith, WR Hakeem Nicks, LT William Beatty, ILB Jon Goff, along with many backups.

    HC Perry Fewell

Perry got a taste of HC experience at Buffalo, and with a relationship in place with Ross already, this is an easy transition. Defensive minded, he can take the steps needed to get our weak link fixed.

DC Ron Meeks - Shared philosophy with Fewell
    OC Tom Clements - GB's O fits Tebow's style

    R Ayers - B Cofield - A Haynesworth - CJ ohnson
    J Anderson - J Beason - DJ Williams
    R Bailey - P Amukamara - R Hill - A Goodman

I liked the idea of Ross because I view the Giants as solid evaluators of talent. They seem to get a lot of their drafts, and also out of free agency.

Where I feel you went wrong is Perry Fewell. I envision him as a good defensive coordinator but nothing more. He simply isn't the type of guy who should be in control of an entire team.

The Chiefs have got an elite coaching staff/FO except for Haley.

We should copy their base plan.

      1. Get a GM who has great knowledge and a good footballing pedigree - Ala a Scott Pioli who can get good talent and work contracts well.

      2. Get a headcoach who is willing to work as a first and foremost as a disciplinarian and taskmaster. Someone who the players will play their hearts out for, someone who can motivate the players and get the best out of them week in week out. They don't need a great football mind, but they need leadership qualities and the ability to build a team.

      3. Let your offensive and defensive co-ordinators act as your play callers and act more as co headcoaches during the game. Get guys who have been amazing co-ordinators over the years. Guys like your Weis' and Crennel's.

I thinking of more of a power switch to a strong GM team of Xanders/Ross taking a lot of the control away from the head coach.

Fewell is an excellent game planner/player coach get an OC who can handle the job and it could work really well.

Initially, I campaigned for Mark Schlereth to team up with Xanders in sharing GM duties like the Goodmans did a few years back, but if McD is going to go after the year, Xanders will follow suit and odds are, we won't hire an unexperienced analyst to be a GM.

With that said, here's my suggestion

GM- Marc Ross. You pretty much covered the points as to why he should be considered. The Giants have been one of the best in the league in getting great value out of their draft picks.

HC- Russ Grimm. He's a hardnosed, smashmouth coach that should have gotten the Steelers HC job after Cowher if it wasn't for the Rooney Rule (I'm not saying the rooney rule is a bad thing, I'm just saying he was the leading candidate otherwise).

OC-Mark Trestman. He's currently the coach of the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL and has been a successful OC in the NFL (most notably with the Raiders when they went to their last super bowl). He was one of the guys that spent a couple of months with Tebow working on his mechanics before the draft and is a big believer in his(Tebow's) ability. He would find a way to take advantage of Tebow's strengths as a QB.

DC-Marvin Lewis. Looks to be a lame duck coach in Cincinatti and will soon be looking for work. He was the DC when the Ravens won their super bowl with that dominant defense. If anything, he's a guy that knows how to get some value out of unheralded defensive players.

ST-Bob Ligashesky. He's already on the staff and has been a ST coach before. Seems like an easy promotion.

I still think Xanders will stick around with more of a focus on contract negotiation/money matters and just reporting separately to Joe Ellis. Xanders has done a great job of signing the guys who come here.

I agree. He's done a fantastic job with the business related transactions in the FO. I hope we do hold onto him in some sort of role, but not as a GM.

the sky is falling the sky is falling OMG the sky is falling.

NOthing is going to happen to the front office until and maybe not even after the CBA is in place and there is not lockout next year.

Get used to it the way it is.

PS they will be hiring a new Video guy but beyond that NADA

Actually, with the progess of the CBA talks in the last week, there's a good chance a new CBA will be in place before the current one expires. I don't think we need to hear another random fan to say "McD's going nowhere! Get used to it!". This thread was for people to put their suggestions in for a regime and discuss the possibilities. If you don't like the thread, don't bother reading it.

                    Have a good day.

There is more than one headcoach that is worth taking and gruden isnt even on my list. Once the tampa bay team he inherited was fully under his control he ran it into the ground. If he comes here I will be so pissed off. I honestly dont like him. He seems love san diego and phillip rivers. Not what we want. How could we probaly easily get him. We would need to give him like 10 mil oer year to get him away from ESPN.

He loves Tim Tebow too, he was raving about how good he was going to be before the draft. The problem Gruden had in Tampa was that he could never get a QB. He would come into Denver with 2 QBs and he would give us a committment to the ground game that we really need. But I'd rather have McD here because he evaluates better in the draft imo. If Gruden could come in and call plays for us I'd be for it

I doubt he would leave his high paying job and his family life to work with a 23 year old kid who may not do anything in the NFL. He analyzed him on TV and said he likes how he plays. This doesnt mean he really loves. Mcdaniels is also gay for him and we hant seen this combination.

If Pat Bowlen and co. are going to get rid of their prized former New England pearl, they’re not going to feel the urge to go out and pay a new head coach 5+ million a year to roam the sidelines. They also wouldn’t want another franchise’s former success to be our new multi-million dollar blunder. Before we debate who would do the best job as the new orange and blue sheriff in town, let’s take this into consideration.
How many head coaches (past and present) have gone on to win two super bowls with two different teams?

                            I rest my case.

Initially, I loved the idea of bringing Gruden, Cowher, Dungy or even Brian Billick into the fold. But after giving those possible scenarios some serious thought, I had my reservations. The odds of those I mentioned getting us another Lombardi trophy are highly unlikely. Sure, anything’s possible, but I’m sure I’m speaking for a lot of Broncos fans when I say that we don’t want risk X amount of seasons to see if it can happen. We’re better off picking somebody that fits our identity that aspires to stay competitive, regardless of the situation.

Actually, I really like your plan. The only suggestion I have is Marc Trestman for OC over Tom Clements. I say that because Trestman was one of the guys that worked with Tebow on developing his mechanics before the draft and he's a HUGE Tebow supporter. He's been an OC in the league before and would make gameplans for Tebow to be successful in.
