Vickerson has been solid and shows promise as does thomas. These two guys are the only two I want on this team next season. I think we need youth and pass rushing to be added in the offseason in free agency and the draft.

    Guys like:

Paul Soliai (NT) 26 years old
Barry Cofield (DE/NT) 26 years old
Stephen Bowen (DE) 26 years old
    Nick Fairley
    Cameron Jordan
    Marcell Darius
    JJ Watt
    Jerrell Powe
    Phil Taylor
    Sione Fua

Dwight Freeney is a 4-3 DE in the Tampa 2 system.
bruce smith played 3-4 DE for a while.

but either way learn football before you post guy who made this thread. vickerson has shown promise and should compete with thomas along with a first rounder, what we really need is a NT, thats not to old to play. i'd alos love fairly or darius to help shore up another DE spot.

It's obvious I haven't paid close attention to the Defensive line because I didn't know they traded Baker away, but I do know that just being a "run stopper" doesn't make him pro-bowl material, or even staring material for that matter. He is mediocre on a terrible line, at best. Besides in a 3-4 defense a lineman is supposed to take on blockers allowing linebackers to make tackles. Their job is penetrate and put pressure on the QB, especially in 3rd down, and passing situations. Vickerson has only 1 sack my friend. How many does Freeney have? This is a passing league, thanks.
You should probably focus on another sport if you want to compare a 315 lb 3-4 DE's sack total to Dwight Freeney's.

Do you know what the difference is between a 4-3 and the 3-4? Do you know the responsibilities of the DE in their respective defenses? Vickerson has been doing a great job this season.

Man, I just don't know why we don't give Vince Wilfork more playing time. I mean he's gotta be better than our other options. And why the Hell is Ngata wasting away on the bench?

I thought Vickerson had a sack last game.
I thought in a 3-4 the linemen stop the rusher and tie up OL on passing downs so that one of the blitzing linebacker can make the sack> That is why Doom had 17.5 sacks last season.

It actually just gets better and better. He compared sacks of Freeney to Vickerson.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If they only run to the other side, then we've shut down half the field, haven't we? If we get Fairley in the draft and put him opposite Vickerson then we'll have a guy who can shut down the run and rush the passer. In the 3-4 all of your linemen don't have to be pass-rushers.
