  • Kevin Burnett

Kevin Burnett of SD chargers will be FA after this season. He has 5 sacks, 2 FF and 2 interceptions. The guy is beast for ILB. I think Chargers will re-sign him but just a thought we go after him.

I saw him making un-believable tackle in Indy game when he had blocker in front of him and he threw him out to ball carrier and bring him down. Just un-believable play.

he's been a nice low level free agency pickup, had some injury issues last year after we got him, but he's had an excellent season in 2010

Im happy with what we have with mays and williams going into into the future. I think with a player in the draft like mike mohamed from cal with our current players of haggen, woodyard and maybe a good addition in free agency like gary guyton we should be fine. Im guna guess burnett will want a big contract and I would rather give a guy like hawthorn form the sea chickens a big contract.

DJ and Woodyard are crap players. Woodyard is good ST player. Mays looked good but I am not completely sold on him. Hope he does well. DJ should be gone asap.

His biggest mistake was releasing Brees and Harrison. AJ still finds people and that is the reason Chargers are one of the elite teams in NFL year in year out. It is all AJ. I wish we had GM like him.

both were hurt, and in harrison's case needed hgh to recover

in brees' case his own doctor said it was a one in a million miracle surgery lol

just our luck, and then there's turner, we had to let him walk after holding onto him as long as possible as insurance, because LT was coming off a god like season only one year removed

and the rest is history lol

DJ is so bad in coverage. It seems like he just can't run anymore. I have seen him Qbs run by him and he doesn't even touch them. He is not good when blockers in front of him and most LBs have problem and very few can disguise blockers and make tackle. DJ is overly hyped player. I think he is crap. I think most of our LBs should be gone. They are the reason we are in this situation.
Now he is in DUI situation that would miss 4 games atleast next season. Again DJ is crap player.

No personal attacks. If you have point make it and prove me wrong...!!
If you just want to ask one line questions and calling me moron then find another board. Don't drink and post.

As far as making plays DJ is the 11th best player in the NFL as an LB 7th best in the AFC and 2nd best in our division.

As far as coverage goes he is 15th among LB's in the NFL, 7th among players in the AFC and 5th in our Division (SD has quite a few guys who can drop back better)

He is the 19th best at getting to the QB in NFL and 12th best in the AFC 6th best in the division and 2nd best on our team right now next to Haggan. He doesnt always get there but pressure is still important in the NFL.

Ill admit he is overhyped as being elite but he is still a starting LB on most teams. Haggan is probably 33rd on the list as far as top LB's he isnt amazing but he does well enough and he is a captain who has tried to keep the corps together despite injuries to the 2 OLB's. Still do you know what players is better in all categories:

                      NONE

Ill admit I wouldnt mind having Derrick Johnson dropping back into coverage, and he is better on the run but he cant get to the QB. Lawrence Timmons is probably then closest being better at him at everything but creating pressure. Burnett doesnt suck against the run but he is worse then DJ and thats what we need most is someone who can attack the run.

Right now our D-line is what is choking the most Jamal Williams is the only one who has even remotely come close to stopping the run as the 7th best NT in the game. Yet he is old and banged up.

                        Great analysis. Thanks for posting.

Though I don't believe in stats and they can be misleading. I have posted based on his play on field and not necessarilly how many sacks or tackles. I agree our front not able to get any pressure. I thought DJ would do good at WILL LB since it was his natural position but he is playing Jack which I think not the best position for him But since Doom was inserted into WILL and was successful they have to move him to Jack since he doesn't like SAM. So one mistake from DL and we give up too many yards.

If memory serves me right, the injured Harrison was released under Butler, but I may be wrong. As for Brees, they offered him a contract that he had to earn through incentives, but he chose the Saints for more guaranteed money. I don't blame him, and I'm happy because I'd take Rivers over Brees any day.

                            CP ME LOL JK

Actually he is playing WILL weak inside linebacker (his natural position), Doom plays weakside outside linebacker which is JACK. He used to play SAM (Strong outside linebacker) which was not his natural position and he struggled against the pass more often then not. If we got Burnett and moved him to WILL he has a tendency to be worse at making mistakes in the run (not much mind u but its not an improvement). If we dont use them for pressure and only dropping back and tackling ild say these are the guys weld need to get that could do a better job:

                            Derrick Johnson
                            Lawrence Timmons
James Anderson (hes an OLB but Ive seen him and I think he can move well to the inside and is only 7lbs lighter)

Thats a short list of players that can do better at stopping the run and still defend the pass as well or better then DJ. Personally I think he has always been a better run stuffer then pass rusher which is why I like him inside. Not many have the same combination of speed and strength to play WILL.

broncoszone=No clue about football and must not watch the game. DJ is one of the better ILB in this league. Woodyard is a good coverage backer.

Are you the only person who thinks DJ is crap on this board.
