Dude u can't be seriously thinking bout drafting a de if we go to a 4-3. You got two great ones on the edge put hansworth in the middle and u draft a dt in the 2nd. U have to get secondary help. I know u wanna bs urself and say champ will stay and ur full of ****. He is gone and cox is in deep ****. Patrick peterson is the best cb prospect sense champ u can't pass on that. U draft mlb with the pick u get from champ or orton. Look I just call it as I see it.

All you have to do is go back to 2008, when the Broncos ran the 4-3 to understand they can't play that defense any better than they are playing the 3-4 now.
How soon we forget how bad that defense was, and although Ayers was not a part of that defense, Dumvervil was.
The players we have now are 3-4 players or nothing, period.
Robert Ayers is 6'3"-274, and Elvis Dumervil is 5'11"-257...those are not 4-3 d-linemen, and in a move to a 4-3, neither would pass for consistent starters, yet both are sutiable as 3-4 OLB's, and that is based on their play.
At 274, Ayers is a load as an OLB, as a 4-3 DE, he is an undersized role player at best.
So you would have your best and biggest impact player in Dumervil reduced to a part time player, and in that case, Ayers may not even make it out TC next summer, as he has shown excatly NOTHING as a down lineman trying to get off blocks. Last week, he looked like he was super-glued to the OT when he did play down.
In a move back to a 4-3, only Justin Bannan and Marcus Thomas would be good fits on the d-line. You can just let Vickerson walk in FA at that point, as obviously, Tennessee didn't want him for their 4-3.
Jamal Williams is obviously useless in a 4-3.
At LB, Mario Haggan might be able to pass for a year or so as a SAM or a MIKE LB, and Wesley Woodyard is a natural WILL LB, and while DJ Williams could be moved to WILL, he was terrible there in 2008, and he would now be three years older, so I don't know how some would be willing to count on him.
Mays is a better fit in a 3-4, even though he came from a 4-3 team, but again, you got him Philly, a that traded him to us for nothing, so obviously, they didn't value him. In a 3-4, he fits as a decent backup, but I am not sure he makes the team in a 4-3.
Even DJ Williams has been better in the 3-4, although I would cut him after the season ends anyway, as he is an extremely over-rated player that has disappointed Bronco fans too many times, so he needs to go in either case.
Great coaching and management of the team is all about putting the players you have in the best positions to succeed, and this group of players is not well suited to the 4-3 defense at all.
But again, if you want to blow it up, and completely overhaul the front seven because you believe the 4-3 is the answer down the road, I don't have an argument against that, as our defense and the players we currently have pretty much suck anyway.
For me, Dumervil is the only player worth keeping for the long term, but I am not sure Bowlen is going to want to pay him $50 mil to be a designated pass rusher as a rotational DE.Last edited by MindField; 12-25-2010, 07:07 AM.Comment

Washington Redskins switched to 3-4 this year and they rank near bottom. With 4-3 they ranked top 5 year before. 3-4 sounds good as long as it works and people who make it work.Comment

Can still get
Ras Downing, Jimmy Smith, Curtis Brown with one of the second round picks, and Denver would be stupid to let Champ BAiley go, they will put the franchise tag on him at the least. Would not draft Peterson that high with all the needs we need on the front seven of the defense, trade down and acquire more picks, and draft Von Miller, yes Von Miller, because Ayers is not a proven commodity as a pass rusher, you need help opposite Dumerville. You get a good pass rush, rotate all three players, get sustained pass rush, and all the other problems with the defense will look minimal.Last edited by Ohenhen12345; 12-25-2010, 08:52 AM.Comment
