Switching back to a 4-3 and trading Royal for Haynesworth with Washington and drafting Peterson (CB from LSU). and Greg Jones in the second round and a OL in the second round and a TE in the 3rd round.
Denver is loaded at WR spot and can afford to lose Royal and Shanny loves him!

    Defensively they would have:
    DE-Ayers/ Doom
    DT-Williams-Thomas
    DT-Haynesworth-Bannan
    DE-Vickerson-Hunter
    OLB-DJ Williams-Haggan
    MLB- Jones-Fields
    OLB-Woodward-Viequan
    RC-Champ-Cox
    Safety-McBath-Dawkins
    Safety-Hill-Bruton
    LCB-Peterson-Thompson-Goodman

I think Decker will be able to move into Royals place if this trade takes off and If they can keep Champ, Peterson and him will make one of the best CB combos in the league until Champ is ready to move to safety!
Let me hear what you think:thumb:

I Please explain Dooms contract remark?
I think Doom, Haynesworth and blitzer would provide pass rush and Ayers can play running downs. He and Vickerson would be good against the rush as Williams and Haynesworth plugs up the middle! Peterson and Champ would take away their two wide outs.
Right now anything would help the Denver defense.

He's saying Dumervil is getting paid too much to be a situational player.

I don't think we're as loaded at WR as people seem to think. Gaffney and Lloyd aren't going to be here for much longer. DT hasn't been healthy all year and we don't know if we can rely on him although I do think we can. Decker is good. After that we have Willis who hasn't done anything, Britt Davis who hasn't done anything and some more guys who haven't done anything. Royal is the guy that makes people believe we have a WR corp for the future. If we get rid of him we'll be drafting another WR in a season or two.

You lost me at "trading Royal for Haynesworth".

His contract alone could set us back for a few years.

If I'm not mistaken Washington would have to eat most of his contract or they've already paid about half of it so it wouldn't be as bad as it suggests.

                      Thanks for explaining that

I am just trying to get a better defense a little sooner. The bulk of Haynesworth contract was already paid in the first year or two. He is fairly young (29) and would give Denver three good years.
Doom's defense against the run is suspect no matter of he is DE or OLB, Denver knew that when they signed him to this big contract. Also I am not sure how long it will take him to come back from a pectorial muscle tear? Will he be 100% for camp next season?
This is just an idea how to solve the front seven problems without having several bad seasons while they are building through the draft. I still think in a 4-3 defense Haynesworth can be a force! Also, if Champ see that Denver is trying to build a winner now, he might stay.:thumb:

This would make Doom and Bannan the 2 most overpaid backups in the NFL. That and I am not a fan of making Woodward a starter.

Yes, and Denver has never had to eat a big contract before, has they? LOL

I am sure they would have to compete for every position so Woodward would have to win the position.

Ild rather try Doom as an oversized 4-3 OLB before I place him on the backup list, heck it may even be more beneficial to trade the guy then watch him play 3rd and long.

Why are we discussing benching a guy who had 17 sacks?
