I don't think Champ plays at a 4.28 either nor do I think that speed is necessary to be an elite CB. Plus Peterson supposedly ran a 4.37 at a LSU workout in the spring. The difference in speed is only half a yard. Also Peterson will probably be better in press coverage than Champ, and yes I know Champ doesn't play much press coverage which is one thing I do not like about him.

Also Peterson can really play both safety positions. He's extremely versatile so if he's there I'd definitely take him. He'd start from day one somewhere on our defense.

Peterson is a very talented player but if there is no pass rush then it doesn't matter how much talent you have in the secondary because the QB will have time to pick us apart. I wouldn't mind if the Broncos draft Peterson with their first pick I would just prefer D-line with the first two picks.

I would only take him if Fairley isn't available. If Fairley is there I take him. Even if Fairley isn't there I wouldn't trade down, I'd take Peterson and then use this d-line's depth to our advantage and take a guy like Cameron Jordan or Cameron Heyward in the 2nd. Or we could use some picks and move back in the 1st and take a guy like JJ Watt

How about this?

Trade down in the top 10 to pick up and extra 2nd, and use that top 10 on a hopefully still available Fairley or Watt. Now we have 3 2nd rounders; I say use 2 more on DL and one on Janoris Jenkins out of Florida. He's been way overlooked but I think still has a lot of upside and is definitely better than Haden.

I think having an extra really good player is better than having an elite cornerback. Plus, with the propensity for DL, or any pick for that matter, to bust we are way more likely to get at least 1 good player out of those 3 picks on DL.

We could use so many players on D that I like the idea of trading down.

First of all i think we sitting in a good spot for draft. someone gonna want to trade up to grab fran QB, so i think we trade back gain another pick or more. the trick is to trade back about 3-5 spots and hope we can still get P.Peterson.

we wont draft a CB in the top 5, and drafting a Dline isnt a bad move but to think he would come in and dominate or be a real factor is rare! dline take time to learn to handle the men they up against now! and i just dont see a freak dlinemen , there good and could be great , but Peterson i do see freak DB in him and so does most experts and for that i say we pass on dline and get Peterson. DB is a major need also but everything on defense is major need we got alot of holes.

I like J-Wall, and I know his production isn't what it was, but he's a beast. We've got a few years to fill his gap, and Marcus Thomas is playing really well at the moment.

Get Doom back, and having Peterson in our secondary, at FS or CB, then I think we're looking pretty sweet. More Dawkins to SS perhaps? I do like Bruton though....

Dawkins has no business playing football after this season. He should just call it quits, he has nothing left now.

Drafting Peterson would be one big fat fail that would do absolutely nothing to fix our wreck of a defense. The only pick that makes less sense to me is Andrew Luck.

I really think it's got to be heavy on the front 7 this year, especially because there are so many front 7 blue chippers this year.

I'm not suggesting we draft him...I still want a top DT, but if we don't get Nick Fairley, he may be the second best defensive player. My questions is who would you compare him to? Is he another Champ?

I don't the idea of draft a NT or DT in the first round unless it is the sure thing like Suh, Fairley is no Suh, the NFL is not the same as College. I would rather use a 3rd round pick on NT, maybe Kendrick Ellis. Would take a playmaker in the first round
