  • 1st Rd Draft Pick

If we are going to get a 1st Rd Draft pick and looking at a Defensive Linemen who would you choose? and Why?

JJ Watt: Relentless motor; athletic; giant frame and wing span. Can add weight and not sacrifice athleticism. Would be a corner piece to the 3 man front.

I agree with this pick, but it might have to wait till next season.

JJ hasn't made a decision yet but it seems to me that he wants to return next season. He was very disappointed in not winning Big Ten defensive player of the year. He loves Madison, and his brother will be joining the team next season.

JJ might not be available with our pick, so in that case I like Fairley.

I wouldnt take a defensive lineman i the 1st round at all. too many times I have seen wsted draft picks on d-lineman. everyone thinks just cause suh looks great tht all star lineman in college are going to dominate, see ron brace 3rd string DE in new england, see ziggy hood backup DE in pittsburg liability when in the game
A healthy Kenneth Dixon is a top 5 NFL RB.

Fairley, tank next year, take JJ Watt.

            OMG that would be awesome.

Dude... those guys were late 1st round picks/2nd rounders who are not even close to the kind of prospects as Fairley or Watt. Avoiding 1st round lineman is what has gotten us into the mess that we are in right now.

Hood is actually an 8 game starter this year and he's been playing well, and Brace has started 5 games for the Pats, not a 3rd stringer.

Agreed Suh is such a beast. 55 tackles and 8 sacks as a rookie DT....

Ron brace was a mid 2nd rounder and ziggy hood was the last pick In the 1st round. Neither have anywhere near the potential of a Fairly or Watt

                        Suh is the exception

and no one in this years draft compares favorable to him. If properly coached (not changing DC every year like Denver does) it usually takes DL several years to mature and develope into a force. Anyone know how B J Raji is doing? I remember him being a top 10 pick a couple years ago. I know he had a disappointing rookie season. Gerald McCoy was probably better than most DT in this years draft, he had a decent Rookie season but nothing great.

Exactly! It just shows how good Suh is.Pat Kirwin and Tim Ryan (on Sirius NFL) did a breakdown of all d linemen drafted the last several drafts this past spring. You don't see the dominate production for a couple of years.

I would draft Fairly with the first pick of the draft, then i would move up trade two #2 and get another first rounder and draft Cameron Jordan. With those two picks we now have the deprh needed to build a DL.Also,if i was the GM i would trade Orton for Haynesworth straight up,since the Tebow era has started.I would package a 6th and 7th round pick for New Orleans back up QB Chase Daniels.Tebow and Chase Daniels at QB next season.

Not if there is a lockout, we would pick in the same place after the lockout.
