  • BroncosTX77 Pre-Combine Complete Offseason Mock

Here is my story and I am sticking to it....until after Combine anyways~

    Elway keeps Xanders as GM
    Elway brings in Mularkey
Elway brings in Fassel to develop Tebow
Mularkey brings in Lewis whom he has worked with in Pitt and ATL

    GM Brian Xanders
    HC Mike Mularkey
    OC Jim Fassel
    DC Tim Lewis

Many of the players you see NOT re-sign were on roster, brought from PS or signed mid season cuz of injuries. Not to also forget many were on IR plus 53 on roster so that is why the cut/not re-sign number is high.

    Do NOT Re-sign (13)
RB Laurence Maroney – Washed up and done.
OT Ryan Harris – Gets big money elsewhere
TE Dan Gronkowski – Sticks with Quinn
TE Daniel Coats - Sticks with Quinn
RB Lance Ball – Practice Squader
WR Britt Davis - Practice Squader
OT Chris Clark – Practice Squader
OG Stanley Daniels – Practice Squader
OC Jeff Byers – Practice Squader
LB Lee Robinson – Nasty Injury
LB David Veikune – Injury fill in
CB Chevis Jackson – Injury Fill in
K Steven Hauschka – Prater is healthy

    CUT: (7)
TE Daniel Graham – won’t take pay cut
WR Matt Willis – Practice Squader
RB Kyle Eckel – Injury settlement
RB LenDale White – No RB has come back from Achilles Injury
DB Nate Jones – Name speaks for itself
DB Kyle McCarthy – Injury Settlement
DE Ryan McBean – Name speaks for itself

    Re-Sign (4)
CB Champ Bailey – Champ gets his $40+ million
DL Marcus Thomas – Improves every year great rotation DL
LB Wesley Woodyard – ST stud and good backup LB
DL Kevin Vickerson – Let Holliday go last year, wont let Vickerson go this year

    FREE AGENTS (6)
RB Michael Bush – Mularkey brings run blueprint from ATL
TE Kevin Boss – Tebow needs TE that can catch and can block some too.
OT Tyson Clabo – Harris replacement. Knows Mularkey playbook.
OC Lyle Sendlein – Backup for Walton.
LB Paul Posluszny – Injury prone but is good vs pass. Good back up.
DT Brandon Mebane – Size and leverage for good NT in 34 and 43.

    TRADE

*Kyle Orton to Arizona Cardinals for 2011 3rd rd pick

Makes most sense to me, Whiz likes his pocket passing vet QB.

Like: Clabo, Bush, and Boss (all solid FA)

Dislike: too much resources spent on TE (FA plus 2nd) & ILB (FA plus 3rd)

I doubt Mebane will want to play NT, Fields is a FA this year right?

Not bad, just don't like taking a TE that high.

Would prefer another an OLB so we don't get screwed with injury like we did with Dumervil this year and for depth.

Overall, pretty good, i could live with that.

CP as soon as it reloads I like it, but don't think Seatle will let Mebane walk

I also think Mularkey could be the guy.

Experienced, second-time head coach...creative offensive mind to work with Tebow...had very good experiences coaching with the Steelers under Cowher, and Falcons and his work with Matt Ryan...guided the Bills to a winning record as a head coach there.

Has been a good coach and had success.

Fairley is a no brainer if he is there.

If Fairley is gone, it's Peterson or trade down, IMO

                  Pretty solid.

Mularkey/Lewis sounds good to me, but would definitely prefer someone else than Fassel.

Don't like taking a tight end that high though, our defense is scary bad.

I would rather see a CB than a TE in the 2nd, especially if we pick up one in FA. Also, I like Lance Kendricks from Wisconsin more than DJ Williams if we went TE, and maybe even Kyle Rudolph.

The best 'business' decision for the Broncos would be to franchise Champ and draft a corner to replace Perrish Cox.

If you take say Jimmy Smith in the second, he would get a season to play behind Champ before you would ask him to start.

I'm keeping Cox for now because the cops in Colorado dont seem to have their #### quite together when it comes to sports celebrities.

As for 2nd round DB, if Cox is gone or Champ leaves then I'd prefer the speedy Brandon Burton out of Utah in Rd 2.

I like it. I have Fairley, Fua and Scott in my mock as well. I think Scott falls because of injury concerns & Fua in my opinion is an underrated nose tackle in this draft who has experience in a 3-4 at Stanford.

I like Smith over Burton, but it just goes to show they can get a quality pick on the corner in the second round either way.

I think there is a bigger question about Perrish. He had problems in college too, which is why he fell to the 5th round...if he truly is a knucklehead (and the Broncos should know by now), I would cut him to go with another player and not have to count on him.

I love the idea of bringing in Boss for TE. Fun post to read.
