  • And with the 2nd pick... Bowers

Da'Quan Bowers announced he's going pro next year. Looks to me like he's going to be our guy. Can you imagine our team with him as a DE along with Dumervil and TT as QB. Now that looks like the start of something awesome!

Huge mistake IMHO to not trade that pick down. We have far too many holes to fill to be taking a (HUGE) chance on early pick ($$$$$) junior.

Just a question, if there isn't a really distinguished #2 pick in this year's draft to get, why would a team trade up to our spot to pick? If everyone after Luck is a question mark, why would anyone be so eager to get up to 2 and pick?

Every team will have different priorites...If Luck goes #1 there may be a team out there wanting Bowers at 2 badly enough to trade into that spot. If Luck doesn't go number 1 odds are someone is going to want him at 2, badly...

I am hoping we test the water for trade possibilities before we stick our neck out in taking a junior at number 2 overall and paying top dollar for this early and risky pick...

McShay has us taking Fairley. I think we can all agree on that pick.

Can he play 4-3 and 3-4? I heard Auburn stands him up a lot just like a LB.
Whats his ideal Defense? What player does he compare too?

With little knowledge on the draft so far, I want Peterson and take DL on the 2nd rd since I hear there is loads of talent in the 2nd rd. Peterson is best CB prospect since Champ?? Sign me up

AJ Green is sick, but we don't need yet another wide receiver. I don't think we're the Lions. Not yet anyway.

I don't know if Bowers can play OLB in the 3-4 or if Fairley can play NT in the 3-4. Are we gonnna stick with the 3-4 or are we going back to the 4-3?

I think we'll keep the pick and just take the best available player. Right now that player looks to be Bowers.

The draft itself is a crap shoot but I don't see the difference in taking a junior or senior. Either you can play or you can't. There are plenty of juniors that have made an impact in the NFL.

I kinda agree with trading the pick away for multiple picks. We have alot of positions that need fixing on the defense, and if Champ leaves that's one more. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they traded around and got 10 picks and used most of them on D.

I'd rather get someone similar to a HUGE LB/Medium sized DL... we need to stick with the 3-4 D if we are ever going to have a defense that is in sync.

(EDIT) Had the wrong Fairly... sorry.
Fairley does look like a beast, I don't see us passing him up if he is available, but that guaranteed money at the #2 spot better pay off...

If he turns out like Suh we are golden!

First, it depends if we're going 4-3 or sticking with the 3-4 D. If we go 4-3, then Ayers is putting his hand back on the ground along with Doom.

There's no defined 2nd pick yet because it's WAY too early. A lot of guys haven't even declared for the draft yet.

With the new CBA it may not be as huge of a risk to take Bowers or Fairly (financially) with the 2nd pick. Although I do think that QBs are going to go way to high and teams are going to overpay to move up to get "their" guy (Newton, Locker, Mallett, Luck and the list goes on). We may be able to get Fairly/Bowers at 5-7, but we need one of them to give us some hope - and a couple more with our top 3 picks.

Imagine if Luck does somehow fall, (not likely without Carolina trading down) but we would be able to receive tons of picks.

I would like to see us either draft Fairley or Peterson (assuming Champ doesnt resign). I really dont want to trade down and grab more picks unless its one more 2nd.
