I am hoping we test the water for trade possibilities before we stick our neck out in taking a junior at number 2 overall and paying top dollar for this early and risky pick...
If Luck doesn't go #1, then he didn't declare....

Maybe in the second. Jordan doesn't have the "IT" factor to be #2.

I think we'll keep the pick and just take the best available player. Right now that player looks to be Bowers.

The draft itself is a crap shoot but I don't see the difference in taking a junior or senior. Either you can play or you can't. There are plenty of juniors that have made an impact in the NFL.
Fairley would be a DE not NT in 34. Bowers can't stand up in 34, he'd have to be tried at DE and even then he'd have to be in a Wade Phillips type 34 DE to best utilize his talents.

I would like to see us either draft Fairley or Peterson (assuming Champ doesnt resign). I really dont want to trade down and grab more picks unless its one more 2nd.
Luck won't get past Panthers even if they dont want him.

If Luck gets to us, then that changes everything. But I foresee him being there.
The only scenario that I see someone trading into the #2 slot would be if New England decides that Patrick Peterson is missing piece for their defense and decides to go all in. They have 2 first round picks and a high #2, so they have the ammo to move up if they want.

It would go against Belicheck's draft philosophy to trade up instead of down, but Tom Brady isn't getting any younger, and the window may be closing soon.

Terrible pick IMO... where is he going to play? At 275 he is going to be to big and to slow for OLB, too small for the 5..... We have to switch back to a 4-3.... But either way he is a bust waiting to happen.... You cant take anymore 1 year wonders...Isnt Moss and Ayers enough

Good review on Bowers on ESPN here

Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers will give up his final season of eligibility and declare for the NFL draft.

Doesn't look like too bad a choice IMO...and Lord knows we need help on D.

well duh no need to pass when you can gain 6+ yards per rush never have a 3rd down, keep defense on field and play backups in 2nd half

Huh? If he had 12 sacks in his rookie year, I'd consider that a game changer. 9 players had 12 sacks this year, and our pass rush is horrible. A pass rush might have one us some games this year.

Our pass rush will be fine with Doom coming back, and if we draft Bowers the opposing team will run it down our throats with no need to pass.

No thanks, couldn't be a worse choice than Bowers.

Bowers lacks initial burst and foot work to be an OLB and honestly hes a prototypical 4-3 DE and nothing else unless we change to a 4-3 this would be a horrible pick, and honestly if we do change to a 4-3 it would probably still be a bad pick because Haggan and Ayers arent bad DE and then we have Doom who weld need to get rid of although some were talking about using him in a pseudo 4-3/3-4 where he plays a rush LB and has big guys up front opening lanes for him. That might work
