If Quinn truly is an elite pass rusher, that is the second hardest thing to come up with in the NFL draft other than a franchise QB.
You also see Quinn as insurance against what happened to us this season when Dumervil got injured.
The NFL, more than ever, is a passing league, and to be a great defense, you have to be able to flat-out rush the QB.
If Robert Quinn is the real deal, he absolutely could be the No. 2 pick...but he has to be elite.Comment

I'm convinced (right now) that the Panthers will draft Bowers first overall to try and recreate the hometown hero magic they got in 02 when they took Peppers.Comment

Ayers is not a proven pass rusher, more of a run stopper, can't hurt to have 2-3 OLB or DE. Ryan Mallet could be key player in the 2011 draft. With teams like Minesota, Miami, San Fransico, Washington in need of a QB, the second pick in the draft could be valuable.Last edited by Ohenhen12345; 01-08-2011, 08:59 PM.Comment

They need a face to that franchiose, and if Newton goes off in the National Championship and is MVP, well, stranger things have happened than to see his stock skyrocketComment

But the more I think about it the more I think that if Jerry Richardson makes the final decision he will want to try and please the fanbase by bringing in one of the two hometown guys, so I believe the leader right now is Bowers but if Quinn has a great testing period he could become the choice. It worked in 2002 so he'll probably try to do it again.
This might placate the fanbase for awhile (both Clemson and Carolina have HUGE followings in Charlotte) but it has the potential to end really ugly, that fanbase was almost completely united in their hatred for Peppers at the end of his run there!Last edited by Butler By'Note; 01-08-2011, 11:41 PM.Comment

Robert Ayers or any other 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE on the roster - except Dumervil (whose availability for the 2011 season is nothing but a question mark at this point) - can't serve as an excuse for the Broncos to ignore a great OLB/DE prospect that might be the total package. If Robert Quinn is that guy... See where he ends up on the draft board. The Broncos have to build a better roster and it starts by improving the defense. That's much more important than trying to make McDaniels' moves look good.sigpicComment

Robert Ayers is a hard worker, and with one more year of training camp and Doom by his side I think can be more than solid.Denver Broncos GM

The Broncos won't replace Dawkins, Hill, Graham or Buckhalter in the 1st round (very unlikely). Interior lineman is a need as well as edge rusher. It comes down to scouting the players and creating the big board. For example, how high will Nick Fairley be on the board? Can Quinn receive a higher grade? 4-3 or 3-4? I won't be upset if the team drafts an edge rusher in the 1st round.sigpicComment
