The general theme that I've been hearing from fans is that defense should be the focus of the draft, which I completely agree with. However, looking at our receivers, I can't help but want some new blood. Lloyd had an unbelievable season, but both he and Gaffney are probably on the downhill. Thomas is solid, and I love Royal, but adding someone like Blackmon, Green or Jones could really be a game-changer and help Tebow in his first full year as a starter and keep us relevant on offense. Plus, we could still focus on defense with our 2 (maybe 3 depending on an orton trade, pending new CBA) second round picks. Chances?

Wide Receiver is the deepest and most talented position on the team.
Enough said.
Move along.

How about this for a new mock;
1st: AJ Green
2nd: Kyle Rudolph
2nd: Malcom Floyd
3rd: Noel Devine
6th: Owen Marecic
7th: Alex Wujciak
We could give Tebow lots of options there, and add a linebacker for the future!Denver Broncos GM

I think only Green is good enough to be the 2nd player
taken in the draft BUT if Denver could trade down and pick up another 2nd rounder then draft Jones or Blackmon with the first round pick and use three 2nd rounders and their 3rd to shore up the defense, I could live with that!!! Ought to be some good defensive talent left in the 2nd round. Denver is to the poing defensively that anything should help!!!

How can you legitimately say its not a long-term need? We're not stacked by any means. We've got a rookie who hasn't officially emerged as a legitimate downfield threat, a third-year who really works best as a slot receiver and two receivers over 30. Britt and Decker are nothing special...I'm just not seeing what you're seeing. Having 2 solid receivers under 25, plus one of the better slot receivers in the nfl would make our offense infinitely better.

The Broncos currently have a great blend of youthful talent and veteran leadership anyway you look at it.

We have Lloyd who is our only pro bowler and our #1 WR at this time, he may even get an extention for next season.
Thomas who was a 1st round pick last year, WR's take time and we are going to see a good player next season as long as he can stay heathy. I know thats a big IF as of right now.
Royal is a good football player who is just under used, there is nothing wrong with his play.
Gaffney i'll agree is on the down hill but for a 4/5 guy hes good enough for me.
As for decker i don't know what your seeing but he looked great to me in his limited action this season.
So my question is with all the holes we have on the Defensive side of the ball as well as at RT and TE why would you want us to spend a 1st round pick on a WR?
Are we matt millen and the detroit lions of old? I don't see the point in adding a player into a group that this good when we have so many other holes. Yes i agree we are going to need another WR at some point but that can wait untill next season and/or FA.

That's a good point. I just saw the fact that we potentially have 3 second rounders (those guys are not so much different from first rounders) as the chance to fill in the defense, line, etc. and with our first rounder create a dominant receiving corps like Arizona had a few years ago (Fitzgerald, Boldin, etc.).
