I'm not sure J.D Walton/Zane Beadles would fit a zone blocking scheme...

We must move to a majority based zone blocking scheme. Ryan Clady, Zane beadles and J.D. Walton, Chris Kuper are all better suited for the ZBS. They are all very athletic, quick footed and are not the typoe of guys who fly off the ball and just maul people. They dont knock people off the ball and quite honestly they do not play physically. However it does come dont to coaching. I think with the right coaching staff (rick dennison as head coach, with bill muir or tom cable as offensive coordinator and o line coach) could change their mentality.

I'm pretty sure Walton can make the transition from PBS to ZBS

Unlike 2 years ago, there isn't a single position on this roster that would make me say: "They don't need that guy!" if that guy fits what they do.
Lloyd, for all his '10 success, has done it once in his career and is going into his contract season. He will be looking for a big payday regardless of how he does in 2011. And if you know anything about Lloyd before he came to Denver (Most Broncos fans reject the reality outside of what they think of their Broncos) Brandon Lloyd is just as capable of being a typical WR as anybody. Believe it or not, there is a reason he's been dumped 3-4 times.
The misuse of Royal has been an absolute crime, good/solid No2 option.
Thomas is a 6-3 Glass ****** with questionable speed and green as grass route skills. He is every bit as big of a question mark as Tim Tebow, and Tebow is a huge question mark.
Decker is a possession receiver with a fumbling problem at the moment. Great combo!
Gaffney is a product of the system so far, and a 4th option at that, how he fares in another system has to be considered a question mark. As it is with all the WR's.
Love Matthew Willis.
Is it Denver's deepest position? Certainly. But that's not saying much and there isn't a single player at this position that would make me say: "They don't need AJ Green" if AJ Green is the best player available on the board.
The Broncos are years away from having the talent base to attract legitimate HC candidates, much less contend for playoffs and SB's.......l don't have any interest in conversation about which position takes priority over the other.
The Broncos are one of the worst teams in the league, period. They need talent everywhere.
Broncos fans need to stop pretending that this team is 1 or 2 seasons away.
The last offensive genius just got through a trading a Top5 WR and castrating a perfectly good No2 WR and the biggest supporters of this strategy just got done saying that anybody is replaceable.......What happened to that logic?
I'll give you one thing, the Broncos don't need any more depth at the position.......Last edited by stnzed; 01-09-2011, 10:18 PM.

Both Beadles and Walton played zone in college, that's what made drafting them so ridiculous. But that doesn't mean they'd make in a pro ZBS and they've been horrible in Pass Pro anyway.
Regardless, both are a huge reach where they were drafted and should have no effect on free agency or the draft.......

However, looking at our receivers, I can't help but want some new blood. Lloyd had an unbelievable season, but both he and Gaffney are probably on the downhill. Thomas is solid, and I love Royal, but adding someone like Blackmon, Green or Jones could really be a game-changer and help Tebow in his first full year as a starter and keep us relevant on offense. Plus, we could still focus on defense with our 2 (maybe 3 depending on an orton trade, pending new CBA) second round picks. Chances?
Once Gaffney starts to wear down we have Decker to take his place..
I'm confidant that Royal will be here for years to comeDENVER STAND UP!!!

Wide Receiver is the deepest and most talented position on the team.
