it might be a possbility, but we shouldn't and probably won't. at this point i'm advocating drafting da'quan bowers and creating a dream rotation between dumervil ayers and bowers for the next decade.

Ya know, when they talk about a guy who's good in the 3-4 or 4-3 I think they mean rookies, a guy with his experience has had to move around to all 7 spots on a given play call, with 5 years he might be able to move to MLB.

uhh.. no.. i make him get back up to 260lbs ( which he was his first couple seasons when his hand was in the dirt) play him on the weakside ( side with no TE) and run stunts to allow him to use his quickness so he doesnt get pushed off the ball too much in the running game. our run defense was at its best when we ran stunts while Coyer was D Coord.

Dequan bowers is so overrated. He is a one year wonder like ayers was.

However doom was clearly worn out after a few series when we were in the 4-3. He got pushed around and yes he had sacks but that is not what it is all about. He doesnt have the body play DE in the 4-3 but even if he does but on the extra weight I beleive he will still get worked and be worn out quickly. I would not be oposed to trading him but like someone stated we couldnt get much. I beleive a second rounder is what we could get.

                Sadly, it is.

Players who are coming off major season ending injuries, with contracts the size of Doom's will be difficult to trade.

If we switch to the 4-3, Doom will still be productive and Ayers will be even more productive. The majority of people on the board here don't pay much attention and say Ayers doesn't fit in the 4-3. They are very, very wrong. Ayers is a 4-3 LDE and his play will improve greatly in the 4-3. He's a better version of Da'Quan Bowers. Dumervil has been effective in the 4-3 in the past as well. If we bring in a player who can play run downs at RDE and bring in Doom for situational pass rushing snaps, then Doom will maintain excellent value in the 4-3 for us and Ayers will also reap the benefits.

Agreed. Some people are just determined that he can't play in the 4-3 again though. If we got a good DT to go with Ayers and Doom our pass rush would drastically improve.

No people who say he does fit they are wrong. Ayers is a 4-3 end. He doesnt play contain. He cant rush the passer. I would keep him here if we do stay in the 3-4 because with doom back it may open it up for other players

Trading Doom, after signing him to a huge extension an not giving him a chance to play at least one year with it even though he has experience in 43 and 34 is asking for a PR nightmare, exactly why Elway was brought here to avoid....

we need to stop getting rid of our best players... so no this is not an option. he has grown as a player greatly and can adapt to the new scheme.

Oh come on dont we want to keep repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Honestly if we want to trade someone we can get rid of Ayers and get Brown both probably belong in the opposite system they are in, and neither team has seen production they were hoping for. Still I say we just let the LB-corps play out and fix the line

And this is why you are a Forum/Armchair GM and not in an NFL front office making decisions. NFL is also a business and many situations have to be taken into account when investing with a business.
