    Why, why, why, why?

I watched tonight's game at Philly and I have to say Dom Capers is a genius, he made maybe the best offense in football look completely stagnant, and boring. This man has done wonders with a beat up Packers unit, he is basically the inventor of Pittsburgh's "Blitzburgh" defense, and if everyone around here wants a defensive guy, this is the only choice IMO.

He has past HC experience, all be it a 49-81 record, but he took over two expansion teams and got them both either in or close to the play-offs. He is a defensive master mind and would do wonders for our 3-4 defense, the knock on him as a Head Coach is his conservative play-calling, but in this mock he will not be calling the offensive plays, so throw that flaw out the window!

    Enjoy!

    Head Coach - Dom Capers
He is 61 years old but I think we are in a total rebuilding mode, he has experience with two expansion teams and knows how to make a team competitive, the basic plan here is for him to come in, install his defense, and coach as long as he can while we have a young up and coming HC in waiting.

    Offensive Coordinator - Rick Dennison
We give him the Asst. Head Coach title as well, and he has full control of running the offense, calling the plays, and building an offense around Tim Tebow, he is basically our Head Coach in waiting.

Basically we have Dom as a stop-gap type HC with Dennison waiting in the wings. Dom installs his very aggressive version of the 3-4 defense around the one we already have, and Rick molds the offense into his own. Hopefully, we can keep Eric Studesville around as the RB's coach, and maybe even Mike McCoy stays on staff as QB coach, if we can keep even one of them around I think it goes a long way into helping Tebow along. Basically, Dom will bring in whatever defensive staff he sees fit.

    Cut/Let go:
    C. Buckhalter, L. White, D. Graham, R. Fields, R. McBean, C. Bailey, B. Dawkins

Champ leaves for better money and the shot at a title elsewhere, the rest are turds that we do not need, or are washed up and making too much money to keep around.

    Re-sign/extend:
Brandon Lloyd, Ryan Harris, Kevin Vickerson, Marcus Thomas, and Matt Prater

    Free Agents:
    RB Mike Bell
    FB Ahmard Hall
    LB David Harris
    LB A.J. Hawk
    CB Nnamdi Asomugha

We drop some serious coin on this group of FA's, but with the impending trades of Kyle Orton and D.J. Williams, the release of Daniel Graham, Champ Bailey, and Brian Dawkins we should have plenty of money to spend on these guys, for once we play the roll of the Washington Redskins and spend the money necessary to get these guys that are in thier prime, enough with the 30+ year old FA's, let's do this right!

Dom would do a good job. His bad losing record as a head coach is partly due to the fact that he absorbed the initial stink from two different expansion teams, as their inaugural coach (Panthers and Texans).

But as I said in another thread, the problem I have with Dom is that he's a poor man's John Fox. It's not every year that Fox is looking for a job. And Fox has shown he is a stable, smart, unflappable coach who generates results on the field consistently.

The Panther's owner wanted to start a youth rebuilding effort, and didn't want to pay to keep escalating Fox's $5 mil salary.

I'm not trying to make a case for Fox, but I think he fits the same "slot" as Capers, and is available.

The other thing is that Capers has never really established an offensive identity as a head coach. Whereas Fox, even though he is also defense minded, has a clear signature style on O -- pound with the running game, always with two backs, and play action pass.

You don't rebuild through free agency.
That is way too much money for the Broncos to spend..

I could not disagree more, Dom Capers is nothing like John Fox. I do like Fox and think he is a great coach, I would not be mad if we landed him. But him and Capers defensive schemes are NOTHING alike. Fox's defense are basically 4-3 bend but don't break defenses with little to no blitzing, Capers' style is one of the most attacking styles in NFL history and is strictly a 3-4 scheme.

Plus. I think Capers would come a little cheaper than Fox. I would prefer Capers with the right offensive coordinator over Fox, but like I stated earlier, I would not mind Fox at all.

I gotta feeling Namdi will end up in Dallas or maybe somewhere like Detroit.

Id rather resign Bailey then sign Namdi.

But I am intrigued by Dom Capers I think he would just coach not demand power.

He also has a pretty good Defensive coordinator.

Maybe he could bring Fabio with him.
Now go get your shine box

Look at all the great defenses and see how they build their defense.
Long term success not short term. The Broncos cannot spend, spend, and spend like some other teams...
We cannot even afford Aso that is how high the bidding is going to be.
Much less David Harris who is going to be overpaid.

Who are you talking about? Dom Capers IS the DC in GB. If he brought anyone to be the DC under him I think it would be Mike Trgovac.

Dom Capers is a twice failed coach.

No excuses needed, the man didn't get it done.

I don't want him, just as I don't want Gregg Williams

I know they are great DC's, but so is Dcik Lebeau, and I don't want him as HC either

If we go with a defensive coach, I would want Ron Rivera all day before another re-tread like Capers.

It would be just like when the Cowboys hired Wade Phillips...I mean, what do you need to see?

Capers is an assitant coach only

I like it, but why take Johnson in the 3rd. I love him as a football player for obvious reasons, but he'll probably be available in the 6th.

Nah well I meant Dom Capers is a very good DC.. Of course if he became head coach he would bring someone with him that would have the name "defensive coordinator".

But Dom would basically call our Defensive plays.

The real question is who would he bring with him as OC.
