  • My mock draft

I am doing this with the belief that we will be sticking with the 3-4 I hope everyone enjoys.

    Free Agency---

    Players Released/Not Resigned-

    Daniel Graham
    Correll Buckhalter
    Laurence Maroney
    Nate Jones
    Ronald Fields
    Lance Ball

    Resign/Extend

Ryan Harris- I believe we may keep him, when healthy he has been doing well and he should come relatively cheap.

Champ Bailey- I say we franchise him and sign him to a five year deal worth somewhere near 70-85 million, that is front loaded to pay him as if he were playing corner for another three years (I believe that is how long he said he would like to play corner if I am wrong sorry) and then the last two years have him payed as if he were a safety.

Marcus Thomas- Every year he has been improving and we should be able to get him for relatively cheap... 3-4 yrs for 3-4mil a year (not all guaranteed obviously)

Brandon Lloyd- 5 years on an incentive based contract that could be worth up to 40-50 million but only 15-20 mil guaranteed.

Players Signed--- I do not expect to get all of these players but if we could get at least three of them I believe it would Greatly help our team.

Cullen Jenkins-DE (GB)- with one of our biggest needs being dline, we should not be afraid to dish out money to players to make us better.

Paul Soliai- NT(Miami)- will instantly upgrade our dline by coming in and being the starter right away and Soliai would help keep JWall fresh.

Manny Lawson- OLB (SF)- A young Speedy outside presence to pair with Doom, I believe that we may try Ayers at ILB he is really good against the run but I just do not know if he has enough speed to get the qb. even if we do not move Ayers I believe Lawson would jump him as starter and Ayers would be good depth.

Melvin Bullitt- SS (IND)- A good young safety to help make our secondary younger.

DeAngelo Williams- RB (Carolina)- Our running game would instantly be upgraded and give us the One-Two punch that must teams in the NFL have today.

    Trades---

Kyle Orton to the Minnesota Vikings for their Second Round selection (43)

Number Two overall pick to the 49ers for their first round selection (7) Second round selection (45) and their 1st round choice in 2012. The 49ers trade up in order to grab the top choice at qb (whether that be newton, gabbart, or locker at the time) jumping ahead of the bills to make sure they get their guy.

I am sure we would trade up with all of these second round picks now but for the sake of putting too many trades I am going to leave us at these picks.

    Now for the Draft...

After all of our trades we now have the picks...
    7
    36
    43
    45
    46
    66
    NE(6th round)
    195

    1st round
Number 7 overall-J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin- This might be a little high for him but he is just an animal. enough said.

    2nd Round

#36- Cameron Heyward- He is a first round talent in the 2010 draft but since he came back he did not have a stellar senior season causing him to slide a bit. He did have an excellent game at the Sugar Bowl which might cause him to rise, So if he is not available I would take Jared Crick with one of the other second round picks.

#43- Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame- In Tebows first season being the starter I believe he is going to need a safety blanket and here he is. Rudolph is the top rated TE in the draft and should help Tebow a ton. (We might even trade up a bit to take Rudolph since in my scenario we do not get any of the top receiving tight ends available.)

#45- Rahim Moore- I was really going back and forth with Moore and Tate here but with all the new rules on hitting defenseless receivers I decided the smarter choice with the smaller faster Moore.

#46- Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia- We are going to need another corner if Cox's trial doesn't go well and Dowling was another player like Heyward who would have gone a lot higher last year. I believe he is going to be a stud.

    3rd Round
#66 Jerrell Powe, NT, Ole Miss- A good young NT who is going to help with depth we may even cut JWall depending on how Powe and Soliai look in training camp together.

    6th Round/7th round
A speedy returner who falls and OL Depth.

Dareus is better than Watts and will be there are 7 most likely.
Dowling has not been impressive at corner in the least, a lot of talk about him converting to safety.
I'd just grab Dontay Moch instead of Dowling because he could really be a nice pass rusher immediately on third downs. Eventually take over for Ayers if he doesn't produce. Heck, the guy can also play special teams..I'd like to see gunners try to tackle a flying 240 pound guy...
Overall cut down on FA guys.
Jenkins/Solias will already cost us an arm and a leg.

When NFL general managers consider trading draft picks, they more often than not consult this value chart first.

Depending on which chart you use (the real one or the made up one), unless SF's 2012 2nd round pick is somehow between 28th and 29th overall you're getting Josh McDaniels' type value for the #2 overall. Considering the imminent rookie salary cap, l would think that "Lottery" draft picks are more valuable than ever.

And l wish l could believe that Denver will get a 2nd round pick for Orton, but I can't (draft picks are more valuable than ever).......Not that it matters, from what l understand, without a new CBA there will be no trading of NFL players.

By the way, Denver needs 1st round picks and a lot of them, the higher the better, try to work a few more of those into your future mocks.

By the way, after Heyward's bowl game you might want to flip-flop him and Moore. Because even though Crick had something like 9 sacks w/o Suh next to him, he may not come out this year.......

If I had three 2nd round picks I'd take Heyward, Crick (If) and another DL (Phil Taylor?). That's where the 3-4 DL value is, not in the Top10, unless there is a BJ Raji (there isn't). Just ask KC, so far they're regretting taking Tyson Jackson that high.......

I wouldn't be disappointed in that.

But Heyward , Moore , and Rudolph might all go in the first round.
Now go get your shine box

phil taylor is not worthy of a 2nd round pick. However it is possibly that he will because this NT class is horrible. Therefor I beleive we throw everything at Paul Soliai in FA if we stay in the 3-4.

I would only take philo taylor if he fell to the late thrid

I beleive heyward or allen will fall to the 32nd pick which I hope we trade down with NE to get or the 34th pick.

NFL Draft Scout gives Taylor a 2nd round ranking at the moment, currently ranked 3rd behind Paea and Nevis, so it's obviously subject to change with JR's declaring. That's what l'm going by but 3rd round works even better for me.......

Well then that website should just lose all credibility if they have drake nevis or paea listed as a NT. They should be shut down

                      Umm, riiight.

First: They have them ranked by DT's and DE's, no NT designation.

Second: The website is still run by the scouts that Bill Walsh hired when he started it.......

                        Heyward?

No way that would be a shocker even if he were to fall to the second round there is now way the Patriots at #33 would pass on Heyward.

                        Allen who?

Miami DE, he's had his moments.

Btw, ESPN3 is a far better place to shop for prospects of some major schools, you can actually watch entire games and see a players lowlights and not just a players highlights.......
