Paea is NOT a 3-4 NT.

    He is a 4-3 3-technique DT, and that's it.

Great fit for a Tampa, Indy, Chicago, Philly, etc style of defense, but NOT
    a 3-4

We're not trying to re-invent the wheel here, and we're not playing Wake Forest, so his height will be a question

He can play nose in a wade Phillips like scheme. And in a 4-3, he plays the one technique.

What are you talking about with the wheel. I dont see the relavance. Anyway yes it will be in question but his height does not make him good or bad player.

Yes i know and he is dominant at it. All my speaking is based on the 4-3. This is what I beleive we will do. 4-3 is the way to go. Better set up for it. Better prospects avalable throughout the first three rounds.

He's a 5th round guy. People overreact because he's big, fat, and slow. He also has massive character concerns.
He isn't all that fat (#98) and his character issues are over blown. A fight at a frat house nearly 3 years ago...not a big deal. He is still the best of a weak NT class.

I'm going to have to agree with MUG on this one. I don't really care about a photo, he doesn't have good weight which is what MUG is saying. It's mostly fat, but his 6'5 frame hides that. Powe has the most upside, but also could bust easily.

Phil Taylor is a beast and will not drop to the third. He isn't going to wow you as a pass rusher or anything, but this guy is dominant at taking up blocks and stopping the run. There are very few NT's I've seen (even in the NFL) that have better hands then Taylor. If we are staying in a 3-4, he is the guy we need to get. Powe is a guy I'd consider, maybe as a DE in a 3-4, or the 2nd NT if we don't get Taylor.

Honestly everything relies on our next coach..if we get a guy that likes a Wade Phillips 3-4...welcome a 1-gap NT like Pae.

So this guy, with all of his natural ability, and his size, has ZERO chance of developing in the NFL?

                  Good coaching wouldn't matter?

Being around solid veteran players wouldn't help him develop?

That is alot of size, and god given athletic ability you are throwing down the drain here

...and we're not talking about a high first or even second round pick...

I wanna see what he looks like at the combine

Can you not say this for every nose tackle? I've watched Phil and was not impressed. And I will leave it at that.

Haloti Ngata is 6'4 and was 338 when he was drafted. He benched 37 times at the combine and ran a 5.13. Was he all fat too? Taylor is 6'4 and 340. He has also squated 665, benched 455 pounds and powercleaned 400 pounds and should run around a 5.25. Yep, sounds like all fat to me.

I'm not saying taylor is the next Ngata by any means but I don't see where you are basing your judgement on. For a 2nd/3rd round pick, Taylor has huge potential.

There's nothing remotely similar to Ngata in Taylor. There probably won't be another Ngata for a long time. Which is what I said when he was coming out.

Now, as for Taylor, he's not any more impressive than Chris Baker, and he was in the same fight Baker was in. Baker went undrafted. I'm already giving Taylor a boost by saying he goes in the 5th. Prior to the this season, he wasn't even going to be signed as an UDFA. Still, he started slow, had a nice run in the middle of the year, wore down a bit, and played solid in the bowl game. His best games were against non-ranked competition and he was awful against the four ranked team he played, except Oklahoma where he put up 7 tackles, but none for loss.

You've liked Taylor for awhile now, I keep telling you you're wrong on this. If this guy goes in the first two or three rounds, let me have it after the draft.

alot of what will happebn witg taylor and this mock would probably change if taylor ha a poor showing at the combine, but if he has a good combine he is easily a second round pick. if he shows up poorly at the combine he couyld drop as low as UDFA. but right nopw he is my favorite potential NT i have read about taking i would pick up a decent stop gap guy and train taylor let him go for a year or 2 before starting.
