  • Carolina will not tag DeAngelo

    AdamSchefter Adam Schefter
Carolina will not use its franchise tag on RB DeAngelo Williams. Panthers either will tag C Ryan Kalil or DE Charles Johnson, not Williams.

I would like to pick him up.

    saw this over the weekend

would love this guy in orange and blue. i want this team to get back to pounding the rock, not this dainty short passing game where everything has to go right to work

I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE if he signed in Denver.

Pound the ball, control the clock, and with Tebow making red zone trips into Touchdowns, we could see quite a bit more than expected next year!

So what do you guys think of Willis McGahee, I know that the begining of his carreer was rocky, but it seems like as far as a goal line back he is doing well. If Williams doesnt come to Denver of course, which i hope he does.

              I'd rather have Kalil.

If we build the O-line right, it won't matter who the RB is.

No thanks, he'd want a massive contract.

Besides, living in the NC area, everything i've heard says they're going to sign Kalil to an extension whenever the CBA is done.

To the OP, i'd love to get Williams, when healthy, he's a top 5 RB, would be a sick RB tandem with Moreno.

Ya, Panthers owner is cheap and iirc $10 million to franchise Kalil and that is quite alot of money for a Center. I just dont see that happening and DeAngelo is too injury prone to invest a franchise tag on, they may just sit on tag this year.

Would love it, but I don't want us spending a whole lot on him

Lol it's amazing how the rest of the NFL think the panther's owner is so cheap. He was paying Fox way more than the broncos are currently paying him. If he's so cheap then what does that make the Broncos?

The panthers organization wants to build through the draft, not through FA. Drafted players get plenty of dough.

Jordan Gross and Chris Gamble got massive extensions recently. Peppers was offered contracts that would have made him the leagues highest paid defender twice. After he turned that down they franchised him for over 1 million per game.

The panthers have a ton of young FAs that members of this board are drooling over. They had to clear the cap room from somewhere. 2010 was the best year to dump old FAs.

Bowlen use to be know as an owner that will pay for talent. There has been a slightly different trend in the last few years however. We have been in the top ten in the league in revenue, while being in the bottom ten for player salaries.

I'd say you have a good arguement.

I have a couple issues with Williams... he's getting close to 30 (27/28 right now?) and he's known for being very injury prone. That being said, I'd love to pick him up, I just hope we don't overpay.

Everyone keeps talking about Williams being injury prone but so is buckhalter and Williams is a thousand times better then buck. I would swap those two any day and pay Williams more money
A healthy Kenneth Dixon is a top 5 NFL RB.
