  • DE is set Becuase we have all the AYER

Watch this video, I watched and and remembered why I didnt hate the Robert Ayers pick. He is beastly! I think he has just been playing out of postion, I think if we get with his hand on the ground, like he has in many of these highlights he will be the dominant force we need.

As for Bowers, not impressed. Reminds me a lot of Jarvis Moss, SPEED, dont really see him use many techinques to get around tackles. And remember the ACC is not the greatest division right now.

Bowers is going to be twice the player Ayers is, in two years Ayers has 1.5 sacks. "Beastly" isn't a term I would use until he's actually proven something on the field.

      remember

he only started 1 game as a rookie, is playing out of his natural postion and got hurt. I also think most people remember him being Beastly against that RB who, some say is pretty good, who is that? Chris Johnson

Yeae i am not that big on Ayers yet. Ill admit he is a good run stopper. but as a pass rusher he always seems to be one move behind everyone else. Is ayers to small to be put in the middles where it matters at stop[ping the run?

Dumervil, Bannan, Ayers, Bowers? or Dumervil, bannan, bowers, Ayers?

I want to see Ayers play his natural DE position in a 4/3 before I pass judgement on him. He is still very young and the foot injury last year didn't help. Jury is still out on him

I think he'll be much more effective as a DE. I'm fairly optomistic.

I'm thinking the same thing....him moving back to DE could be a blessing.

                    Watch Video

He played in the middle and he was good at getting to the qb, I know we have not seen it YET but i believe he will come through and take peterson still!

CB chosen top 15 have been more effective than DL chosen.

Ayers has not done anything to suggest he is the answer to anything. Fox and company will not feel committed to him in the slightest and will take their guy, who may very well be Bowers.

I would argue that DE is just as weak as DT on this team too.

I watched some of those clips and some more of him at the Senior Bowl practices where he played the run very effectively from the inside...

I'm wondering if he could make the move inside and the FO thinks about drafting Miller or Bowers.... Thoughts...?

Well, I think he is ideal at LDE in the 3-4 and would ocassionally get bounced inside on passing downs. I think that would play to his strengths much more than having him dropping in coverage.

Sometimes I think McDaniels just went off of Mayock's top 50 instead of looking at whether or not Ayers was a good fit for the 3-4. I don't think he was a bad SOLB in the 3-4, but I think he'll be better at LDE in the 4-3.

The reason I suggest McDaniels was just borrowing Mayock's ideas was due to Mayock having Moreno rated as the number 3 player in the 09' draft and Ayers rated as the #4 player in that draft.

Al, what would be your thoughts on this as the D-line in base 4-3 set:

                            LE-Doom
                            DT-Bannan/2nd rd. Pick
                            DT-Ayers
                            RE-Von Miller

That's a terrible D-line. Sure the outside pass-rush might be improved, but teams could run on that all day long. They wouldn't even need to pass because they could run successfully to the left or right side all game long. And it's not like there is a good LB corps behind them to help matters.

I understand wanting Von Miller, but no need to force him as the pick and into our defense where he doesn't belong.
