Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

I would cry. Casey is a reach there, and I want no part of von Miller at #2. He's a better fit for a 3-4, and we need to get one of the top 2 DTs with our first pick IMO.
Wow.... Hope not. I really like Von Miller, but only if we can trade down and get a bunch more picks. And Casey in the second will most likely result in me needing a new tv...
I'm starting to think about a mock draft that gives a DE to Denver at #2. I'm serious. Then we get 2 quality DTs in the 2nd round. Because I think it will be hard to find a quality DE for the 4-3 after the 1st round. Get a top DE because we don't know if Ayers will be a capable starter, if Dumervil will be 100% back and the rotation would be much improved. DE-DT-DT. That's a huge power surge for the DL that is switching back to the 4-3.
EDIT: now start casting the stones.
EDIT 2: and don't forget to mention that Ayers will turn into Superman in his 3rd year.

I agree...to an extent. I posted a while back that a DE at #2 makes a lot of sense. If Dareus is there then he should be the pick, but if he goes to carolina, then Bowers, Quinn, or even a surprise pick of kerrigan, would be a nice choice.
I suspect Mayock's thinking is that we have several positions of need -- defensive end, defensive tackle, strongside linebacker, safety, cornerback, tight end. So we take the best player available at one of those positions.
Defensive Tackle -- A couple (Dareus, Fairley) worthy of the #2 pick, but there are lots of good DTs available in the draft
Defensive End -- One (Bowers) worthy of the #2 pick, but again, lots of good DEs available in the draft.
Safety -- Very few good safeties available, and none worth the #2 pick.
Cornerback -- only one worth the #2 pick, but many good cornerbacks available throughout the draft.
Tight End -- Not very many good TEs in the draft, and none worth the #2 spot.
That leaves...
Strongside linebacker -- not very many good strongside linebackers available, and Miller is far and away the best, also worth the #2 pick.
I think Gabbert is going to go No. 1 overall to Carolina.
With what is probably going to be a contract structured by a rookie wage scale, the Panthers can afford to take a shot at Gabbert....and the kid is a good prospect for them. To me, he looks right in that Matt Ryan mold, and in that Division, with Brees, Ryan and Josh Freeman, the Panthers absolutely HAVE to have a QB, period, end of story.
The pick for them will be Gabbert or Cam Newton, watch.
That leaves Dareus for the Broncos, and something tells me Mikel LeShoure is going to seriously figure in with that first second round pick. He is a Fox type of back, and with Moreno, you would have the two backs for the two-back system he wants to run...

I am starting to think Ryan Kerrigan may be worth that #2 spot if dareus is gone.
He has been consistent his entire career as a 3 year starter. stats:
Kerrigan actually has 3 years of solid stats that went up each year, not just the one year stats of Bowers and Quinn. He was a team captian and academic all american so he has some smarts as well. At the combine he also put up top stats with a 4.67 40 (1.61 10 yards), 10'-2" broad jump (#1 for DEs not counting Moch who is a LB, imo), 33 vertical, and 31 reps on the bench.
I think kerrigan has the skills, consistency, lack of health issues and off the field issues to move him up to the #1 4-3 DE prospect.

If we take Kerrigan at 2 I will throw my TV out the window
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
I don't know and I don't care

have fun with that. what is it about him you don't like? I highly doubt he will be the pick but I think he may be a better prospect than either Quinn or Bowers. I don't like Fairley. So after Dareus, I see him and Watt as the best Dlinemen

I like Kerrigan a lot, I think he is the safest pick as far as 4-3 DE. And his numbers at the Combine were very good, similar to Robert Quinn who is considered a special athlete. I like him more than Bowers especially after the knee surgery. We will see what happens in the NFL.

It's not that he's not good, it's just bowers and Quinn are better

Why? Kerrigan had stats equal to, or better than Bowers (who is coming off knee surgery) and Quinn didn't even play last year and Kerrigan had better stats than him the year he did play.
Equal production (better production if you count consistency), no injury history, no off the field issues, equal or better measurables...how is he worse?
