Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

There is no obvious with this pick. Last year it was obvious that the number 1 pick would be Bradford or Suh (maybe you could have included McCoy). This year there is 5 or 6 players who could go at 2. If it is your opinion than explain, would be interested to hear your thoughts?
First off, just noticed you're a fellow Calgarian! CP to you for that!
I think when you look at our roster, the obvious pick has to be DT, either Fairley or Dareus. We have 2 on our roster and only 1 has played any worthwhile time in the NFL.
IMO our draft board looks like this:
1. Dareus
2. Fairley
3. Bowers
4. Quinn
5. Miller
6. Peterson
Fox believes in a strong D-Line that why they're players 1-4.

I actually lold at that, 2002 was the last time Carolina drafted a d-lineman higher than the 3rd round.

That's awesome! I didn't even notice that. When i moved from T.O. 4 years back I got all excited thinking this whole city would be Bronco fans. Your like the second one I've ever met in Calgary...lol.
I'm just worried about Fairley as stated in my original post. I think Austin in the second would fill the need just fine with an equivalent risk Fairley brings.
I like both Bowers and Quinn just think they both overlap strengths we already have on defense.
Whoever we take I will support (except QB if I'm telling the truth).
"He's going to be the #1 receiver, and is going to be a star in this league for a long time" Todd Mcshay on Jerry Jeudy
Don't plan on playing "Robert Ayers". Plan on playing the 2 best DEs on the roster.
All I can say to that is " Wow". Just give up on a first round pick who has already shown he can set the edge against the run at a young age. He has been playing out of position and was only in his second year. He is going back to where it is more natural for him with his hand on the ground, and you want to give up on him?
Does not make sense. We both want the same thing - a disrupting/QB pressuring defense, but overlapping draft picks with current roster strengths does not make sense...especially when we can get an equivalent player that can pressure the QB playing a position that is weak for us.

I don't think DE is a current strenght on the roster. And probably many here will agree with me. There are more question marks than answers.
1. Will Dumervil return 100% ready to be productive without any setback?
2. Ayers has been an underachiever so far. He played 3-4 OLB most of the time but line up as DE as well on passing downs. He is a question mark.
3. Who will join the rotation? Veikune? Hunter? That's it?
These questions in my opinion, already make DE a valid pick.
I can't see how the top DE on the board woud be a bad pick. The Giants are an example of a competitive team that adds quality depth at DE wihout hesitation.
Dumervil is coming back from a torn pectoral muscle, Ayers will be tested at DE with an unimpressive career. It's not about giving up on anybody.
You simply add quality to the DL and let the best players play, building a strong rotation for 16 games and hopefully beyond. I am sure that Denver is not loaded at DE.
I am not against Von Miller. But in my opinion, the team will be able to find a good 4-3 LB in the 2nd or 3rd round. DE, on the other hand, is a position that will be targeted in the 1st round, and the best ones will be gone early.

Hunter was average in a 4-3,
Vuikune was great in college in a 4-3.
Ayers is a natural 4-3 end.
Doom got injured in training camp last year, he could have played as early as week 16 had he not been on IR. This lockout will last at least 1 week, so he has twice as much time to recover from the injury than he needed.
At DT, we have Kevin Vickerson. Thats it.
/end of arguement.
