Von Miller.
After putting out a poll for a Broncos 3 round mock, I came out wanting Dareus at our #2. That poll gave me a chance to soak in how the big picture would look after seeing how different scenarios could play out with our draft. I just felt better about our roster after having Dareus on it at #2 while filling in our other needs with our other picks.
But if Dareus is gone I want Miller. Fox/Elway want a disruptive defense, and no one would make a bigger impact than Miller after Dareus.

I love this concept. Miller has proven more than any college DE that he can play linebacker. He has speed to keep up with TE's and has the ability to get to the QB consistently like no one in this draft. What I love about picking him is that it gives us so much flexibility scheme wise in attacking the QB.
I love the idea of putting him at LDE on passing downs, pushing Ayers inside. This would be some sick aggression put on opposing offences. It allows us to be less predictable on 1st and 2nd downs as well, as we could blitz Miller from the SLB on early downs. Picking a Bowers/Quinn would not give us this flexibility.
Miller is up to 246 without losing speed and is only going to get bigger. In a 4/3 this is more than enough.
He also states he wants to be a complete defensive player whether in a 3/4 or 4/3:

For those who say he is terrible against the run, do your homework as he is more than adequate and is only getting better.
If we did not have Ayers, I would be tempted with Bowers. Miller fills the same need, although a different type of player with the versatility to fit our scheme and maximize the talent on our current roster.
Here are all the other options:
Peterson: I was a big Peterson supporter and would not be disappointed in the pick, but with the latest wonderlick scoring I'm having more questions. Peterson's value is more as a safety as he could be a "Sean Taylor" type of player. We need disruptive front seven help, and we cannot afford to take a guy like Peterson and expect him to change positions when his mental aptitude doesn't seem to be where it needs to be.
Fairley: There are a lot of questions on how Fairley's game will transition to the Nfl. He dominated smaller and slower lineman in college and the jury is out how if this will continue in the Nfl. I'm not a fan of his skinny lower body, and question whether he will have the power and durability to hold up in the NFL. Character issues are also a concern.
Bowers: I like Bowers a lot. I just feel it is a wasted pick when we have two very serviceable DE's already. Sure Ayers can be brought inside on passing downs, but we really minimize what we add to our roster if we pick a DE here.
