DT Question

What facts would those be? Powe sucks?

Powe is stricly a 34 nt. Not a one gap peneryrater in the 4-3. He doeant suit us.

Fairley is really athletic, and has some pretty great pass rushing moves. He knows how to use his feet, and his length really well at that position. He doesn't overpower linemen, but that isn't his game. Going to the NFL, I bet he will have to adjust slightly but I really don't think he will be an average starter at all. I think we'll be getting one of the best UTs in the league, and guy who will be an absolute force when rushing the passer. I do think he needs to work on getting down on running plays which is what Dareus does really well, but really his build is fine for an undertackle.

I like Dareus a lot and he reminds me of Suh in a lot of ways. He has great explosion and great strength which really helps him collapse the pocket quickly and be a great pass rusher even from the NT spot. He also is really good against the run because he is better coached than Fairley (that can change though), and knows how to not only take up blockers but shed them too.

Powe just isn't a good fit really. He's had plenty of weight problems in the past, and has really struggled to a play a 4-3 NT role.

Powe Should be out of the question, and fairley can learn to play with good leverage all the time he will be an elite player, i really like dareus just cause he has the football smarts with him which is always a great sign, and i have not heard any good fairley

Powe was great when he played around 340, he was average around 320.

not to mention the Ole miss used him completely wrong, you put him in the middle as a one man run destorier and put a slightly undersize DT with good speed and quickness next to him, then your set.

How about drafting Fairley as the "slighly undersize" DT in the first and maybe pick up Powe in the 3rd or later? Perhaps Nevis as the undersize DT and pick Powe up later??? Right now Denver don't have a fourth or fifth round but might pick up a couple of choices trading down.
I have heard people say before that Ole Miss used him wrong but not sure how? Seems like a lot of people liked him early in the season.

He is a natural nose and they wanted him to play under tackle.

I wouldn't even call Fairley 'slightly undersized' at 290+. I like Nevis,getting a DT with 30+ solo tackles and 5+ sacks in 3rd round seems good value. I'm not much a fan of Powe, I think he's been speculated into 3rd roundish by people looking for a 3-4 NT further in the draft. [and in a 3-4 he belongs]. Maybe later if available as you suggested, even if we had a 4th I don't know if I'd be interested. Frankly I see a type of player whose pretty easy to pick up in FA. Currently we have Vickerson, I wouldn't project Powe to be a better run stopper or pocket collapser than Vickerson.

Compared to Dareus at 319, Taylor at 334, Powe at 322 or Ellis at 340, 290 is slightly undersize to me. Austin is 309 but runs a 4.8 40 and a 1.54 10 and has a good first step so MIGHT be able to be used as a under tackle!
If Denver could pick up Nevis in the 3rd, he would be a steal but I think he will be long gone by then. He has a great "first step".

Well, I just watched this video of the Alabama D against Auburn... And I must say Dareus really disappointed me. It looks like he is about to fall asleep on the field. It was just 1 drive, but damn he was simply horrible and useless. Very passive. I will see if I can find more videos like this one.

Everyone kept telling me back that I was crazy, Powe was great and Taylor was a scrub. Now you guys are all (mostly) on the Taylor Bandwagon and still trying to defend Powe. Powe is nothing more than a big guy with poor skills. That is what you all tried to tell me about Taylor. I haven't changed my opinions about either of them. You guys have. Maybe you should look at how you evaluate players a little bit. What is it exactly that you guys find appealing about Powe????


IMO, the top 2 DT in this draft are Dareus and Austin. Fairley, Liuget, and Taylor are in the next rank. 3rd rank is Wilkerson and Paea. Then comes everyone else.

He was great his junior year, clogging lanes and taking up blockers. Something you dont see on the stat sheet.

After that, he lost weight and power.

I dont think I want to ask a fattie to gain weight, and I dont trust him. Scrub. Do you trust a former crack addict with some cigarettes?

Taylor hasnt showed me enough when Im watching him that he will be the next great nosetackle and he only showed up big (average IMO), his senior year. Scrub.
