No, you're mistaken. None of them picked before Tebow went except for the Browns taking Joe Haden at #7.

Otherwise, not one of them passed on him. It was an odd year where the teams looking for quarterbacks picked late -- kind of like Aaron Rodgers and Brady Quinn's year.

Minnesota immediately traded their pick after Tebow went. The Panthers got caught with their pants down and took Clausen. The Browns passed on McCoy in the second -- I think it was because Tebow was going to be their "project." And the Bills might not have traded up, but would have taken him with their regular pick in the top of the second.

He's polarizing. More polarizing than any prospect I've ever seen. People tend to run to the two extremes about him. And I think it's all because of the mechanics. He looks ugly throwing it. But it gets the job done. He has accuracy.

The dead giveaway that it's looks over results for some people is the "accuracy" tag on Tebow. He's an accurate passer. Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert are examples of innaccurate passers.

I don't know why I'm doing this in a Cam Newton thread.

I go months without discussing it, because it's all been said 1,000 times on both sides. But every now and then, I just feel up to it. :thumb:

ohh Gabbert is not an example. His accuracy is one of his strong points. Also, Seattle and Buffalo passed on him. Seattle
twice...The rest is pure speculation from both of us.

I get that you disagree with me on Tebow, I don't agree with you, but I respect your opinion because you actually have some things to support your arguement. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

            release
            accuracy
            footwork
            arm strength
            spread offense
            no under center experience

the only positives to Tebow as a prospect were his intanglibles.

Look at Gabbert's pro con list

            ideal size
            above average arm strength
            quick release
            good mechanics
            great accuracy
            high football iq
            more mobile then you think
            natural leader

            for cons

            below average numbers
            bad footwork
            tends to force throws
            pocket awareness needs work
            spread offense
            no under center experience

You could also probably throw a few more on either side. But you can see why Gabbert is the #1 QB ofthe class... And some wanted Tebow to play TE
Are you actually being serious? I can't tell....

If you are, I'm not even going to bother arguing with you.

What you listed as Gabbert's pros are pros for Tebow as well lmao bar the mechanics and release.

So better mobility than you think is obviously a much better trait in a prospect than outstanding mobility.

You have got to be one of the worst, most biased and brainless football analysts against certain players.

Your bias against guys like Tebow or even Watt etc is amazing. You knock them down for certain reasons, they prove you wrong and yet all of the things which they possess, you say it's bad on their part and good for the others.

You really do have no idea, and I'm saying this in the most pleasant way I can.

Yeah, my creaky memory. I just keep not registering those early picks, because that was not going to happen. Mayock had Tebow going as the second QB, but everybody had him projected to go late first, early second. So I tend to focus on the picks around him. (But Cleveland comes back in my head because I was sure they were going to pick Colt in early 2nd, and then they didn't.)

His outstanding accuracy produced a season of 16 touchdowns and 9 intercepts in the most quarterback friendly system in the whole of college football.

                    AMAZING ACCURACY!

You see this is how you don't have a pleasant discussion. Jay3 and I just had a very reasonable discussion. We said what we wanted to say expressed opinions, and kept it very civil, I can tell he's mature.

I'm sorry. But you saying that Tebow would be at the head of this QB class was/is just asinine. Absolutely ridiculous homerism.

I'm not bias, as I've said, I hope Tebow does well. I don't dislike him, at all. Like I've said..... I said Teboe would go to Denver in January of last year. Way before ANYONE else, way before.

The Watt thing is an entirely different arguement. No I do not like him. There's no doubt, I don't like him as a player. And I think he's gonna bust. But i'm not hijacking this thread into JJ Watt mania. Another time.

He's tall, athletic, great arm -- accuracy was his major question. He did well on his pro day to largely answer the critics, but the internet was on fire with questions about his accuracy.

And he threw for a low completion percentage as well -- something like 43% on third down.

NFL quarterbacks are supposed to pwn in college. The hard part is choosing from among the dominant ones. But Gabbert wasn't dominant in any sense of the word. He's kind of a mystery the way he sprang out into the front of the race.

Lots of scouts seem to go on looks. A choice that is easily defendable to the eye.

My main point is this -- I think Cam is pretty daggum good. I think I'd take him over any of the others if I was looking for a QB.

Tall, strong, quick, good arm. Did it against good competition.

The major questions about reading defenses and making quick decisions are there for virtually every new prospect. Because you can't really tell about anybody until they get to NFL speed.

He had a lot of decision making errors and that affected his accuracy rate, but that was all do to lack of experience. He has all the measurables, throws a great ball, and teams love the 42 wonderlick score. Some scouts even called him a more athletic Doug Flutie

I honestly beleive that if Mallet was accused of drugs and having bade character then he would be projected top QB of the class. He can make every single throw and will be a great NFL QB. I agree that tebow wouldnt be in the top 5 of QBS if this year and last years draft were combined

You also mocked him there in november the year before.

What makes you think watt will bust. He will porobaly go 10-20, has scheme versatility and his body is built to be an NFL player already.

Maybe, but he basically sprang out into #1 before the Wonderlic.

He looks purty when he throws it, and he is tall. But other than that, a very ho hum college career.
