  • Which Draft Combination Would You Prefer?

This is only the first 4 picks. I know these are getting old, but I'm bored, so bare with me and tell me what you think.

First, in all these polls, Marcell Dareus will be our 1st pick. Also, in all these choices, only defensive players will be chose, although I know there is a large contingency of posters who would be okay with an OT or RB in the first 4 picks. I'm cool with that. I'm just saying, if we were to go ALL DEFENSE in the first 4 picks, with the first being Marcell Dareus, which combination would you prefer with the next three.

    Thanks!

    1. Marcell Dareus DT
    2. Stephen Paea DT
    3. Quinton Carter FS
    4. Greg Jones LB

Is this a good combo? I used Walter Football and NFL Draft Sout as a reference to where each player might be drafted.

        Just say no to Dareus

I'm not a huge fan on Wilson, but I wouldn't be upset with the pick.

And Carter in the 3rd would be a steal, I think... he's an early second talent, IMO (And best safety in the draft.. of course... in my opinion)

          So I chose:
          1) Dareus
          2a) Wilson
          2b) Austin
          3) Carter

But I think my dream, pure defensive scenario is
          1) Dareus
          2a) Paea
          2b) Carter
          3) Moch

I think Carter will be gone before our 3rd rounder.

If Dareus is our pick, I'm thinking about a way to also get NT Kenrick Ellis (Hampton). 6'5 340, Ellis recorded 94 tackles (15 for loss) in 2010. I've read somewhere the Broncos are showing interest in him. He's projected as a 3rd-4th round pick. So, unless we trade down before the 4th round, we would have to draft him with the early 3rd round pick. Together with Dareus, Ellis would add a lot of beef to the interior. If the big guy can handle the blocks, Dareus would have more freedom to attack the backfield.

You have to add an offensive tackle in the first 3 rounds even if harris resigns

If Harris signs a 2 to 4 year deal, no you dont. Offensive tackles can be found late, and Ryan Harris is one of the best zoneblocking tackles in the league.

So you want to risk an injury to our two injury prone tackles and then put a guy like chris clark or batiste in the game like we did last year. This was a failure when clady and harris were banged up. You get a third round tackle like barksdale who has the ability to play either tackle spot and then if one goes down then you throw him in and hopefully dont lose much.

You most certainly do. Its called depth. Something that has killed us on the online the last few years

                          Clady isnt injury prone.

Harris is, but had you read my post, I said you can find late round offensive tackles. Tyson Clabo of the falcons went undrafted, and he is one of the best tackles in the league. A sixth round draft pick is very much capable of being depth.

We also lack depth and starters on D. If we stay with 7 picks then we cant take an early round depth player.

barksdale would be a great pick up, i am just seeing us needing help more on the D and then go OT late

Yeh well how often do you find talent in the later rounds that turn out like clabo or like tom brady. It is one in a thousand and you cant rely on that and that cannot be a solid point for an argument.

Well I beleive the first 3 picks will all be starters on the dside of the ball. Do you think we will start 4 rookies on d. I doubt it. I say we would start a rookie at DT-LB-S. We have decent starters
