  • (IF) We trade Down What Defensive Tackle Would You Want?

Assuming we trade down, what defensive tackle would you take And Why?Interested to know what you guys think because if we pass on Dareus everyone seems kinda split on who they would pick...

    Nick Fairley-On Field Issues
Muhammed Wilkerson-honestly i dont know much about him
Phil Taylor-More of a nose tackle,at times plays soft
Corey Liuget-Scouts seem to be high on him

Also would like to know what Defensive tackle you would take in round two. I was high on Paea but now i have concerns about his torn knee.Im sick of the injury bug to are Broncos, and im starting to dig Marvin Austin at 36.What do you guys think ?

Of course it's going to create some argument. Amakumara would get killed at DT.

I dno man, I bet he could get skinny through some blocks.

EDIT: On-topic: Depends on where we trade down to and who's on the board. But generally, I'd have to say Fairley should be the pick if Dareus isn't there. If Dareus and Fairley aren't there, look for BPA that's not an OT, QB or DE.

Nick Fairley-On Field Issues But a hell of a player. Would draft him for sure if we traded down to 10 and he was there.
Muhammed Wilkerson-honestly i dont know much about him Overrated. Shows glibses of good player but isnt as good against the run as his size would suggest.
Phil Taylor-More of a nose tackle,at times plays soft After season hype. His play didnt get him projected as a top 40 pick. His post season got him there. Red flag for mine
Corey Liuget-Scouts seem to be high on him He is a great player. Would be my second choice.

In order if we traded to 10 I would want:

              Nick Fairley
              Cory Luiget

I wouldnt touch taylor or wilkerson before the 46th pick. Just me.

I would love to trade down like 3 times-Yeh I know really unrealistic and get to like the 20-25 spot and get Akeem Ayers. I have fallin in love with him over the last week. I would hope he could fall to the 36th pick but that is really unlikely

depends how far down we traded. If i was in the late teens or twenties i would think austin or paea.

I think Wilkerson is a better fit in the 3-4 as a DE. And Taylor too as a NT. If we traded down inside the top 10 then I'd want Fairley. If we traded down further, I would want Liuget. If we traded down even further, I would want Paea.

Austin in the teens would make me sick. If we got into the late teens or early 20's and Fairley-Luiget-Paea-Darius are gone I would go LB-Akeem Ayers. Think about it. We would have acquired a lot of picks. We get our future SAM linebaker. He has amazing versatility to play WILL or SAM. He can rush the passer with his hand in the ground and standing up. He is good in coverage and has all the measurables.

IF we trade down to about 10, I think it will be quite open wheter or not we even go for a DT.

Assuming Newton, Gabbert, Green + 1 surprise player (there always is - could be Julio Jones or Amukamara?) goes in the top 9 we would be left with one of these guys:

                        PP7
                        Dareus
                        Fairley
                        Bowers
                        Quinn
                        Miller

Anyone of those would be awesome at 10. Bowers is the most uncertain at this point, but he WAS in consideration for the 1st overall just a month ago.

At 10 I would try to trade down again.

Muhammed Wilkerson-honestly i dont know much about him
Wilkerson had almost 70 tackles last year and 10 sacks, he compares to and is a better prospect then Aluala. He's an impact player, him and Fairley are really the only two you can project to be pretty good pass rushers at the DT position at the nfl level. Wilkerson can project to either the 3 technique or 5 technique, I'd much rather SD take someone besides Wilkerson. Biggest knock on him is that he's a small school prospect.
