And he can make good plays in coverage and rushing the passer.

He might be able to play any LB position in the 4-3 and stay on the field on 3rd down. He does not have blazing speed but at least he is faster than Mario Haggan. The #2 OLB in the draft might not get past the 1st round, and the Patriots are there waiting with the 33th pick.

Dareus at #2, then Ayers at #36. Sounds good. If Ryan Harris is not part of the future, the Broncos could go OL at #46 and add another DT at #67. Jarvis Jenkins, Kenrick Ellis.
I would rather take Austin in the 2nd and a OL in the 3rd (Barksdale or Gilbert).

Actually before the combine he was pretty much a lock to go to Houston. The combine has made his stock slip a bit but watching his game tape, I don't have any concerns, he'll be a very good LB in the NFL.

I would have to seriously shake my head if our team decided to move from the #2 spot all the way down to the #18 spot. I am convinced - as should all of us - that we need one of the 3 best defensive players in this draft. All the third round picks in the world are not going to step in and fix our defense - so we will need to bring in FA and end up have to cut many of these extra picks anyway (can we fit in 12 draft picks?). I am hoping that we are not a laughing stock anymore... I assume you have had to defend our team as much as I have over the past couple years... far cry from being a team that everyone feared...

he should go to second, if i am giving up a second rounder it is to move down not up. so unless we get lucky and can trade down to like 15-18 then he is worth a look, but right now he probably wont last passed the jets taking there need for a pass rusher. and tkaing that i doubt he will be there for our second if he is i would still look at Austin, Paea, Wilkerson before him. if we go him, it almost looks in my mind ellis is our second second round pick. trading up for him is ludicris though

Also what the hell is people talking about this small linebacker crap. If Fox can get a good football player he will not care about size. That just aint how football works. Plus Ayers is plenty fast. Please watch him play.

Never said that. He is abetter fit for a 4-3 SAM linebacker though

Miller/Peterson/Dareus are players that we cannot pass on with how bad our D is. How are the all the "bad" teams getting better... Detroit, St. Loius, etc? They are drafting the best players with their picks and they are performing. Show me an example in NFL draft history of a team being able to trade out of 3 different first round picks and collect all of those other picks... We are also hitting the lottery if this pick is under some new rookie cap!

How are Detroit and St Louis getting better. Draft a top 5 QB and focusing on defense as a whole during the draft. Something we havnt done.

Let's now say that what Josh did was smart - we had a franchise QB (Cutler), WR (Marshall), RB (Hillis), and good young TE and we shipped them all away only to draft injury prone offensive players and completely forget about defense. I am not saying I disagree with all of the decisions or picks - but if we would have drafted DL and LB when we had the chance instead of reaching for guys like Smith and then dealing him the next year for nothing we could actually start to see ourselves out of this mess.

What does this have to do with what I said. I said the mabnuvering was smart and that is all. You said we would be laughed at for that specifically and we wouldnt. It would be smart.

Everything I have read and heard about the guy is he is the perfect 4-3 SLB. The Giants (who run a 4-3) are looking at him as well at #18 overall.

Thats why I like my plan of taking Dareus at #5 after a trade down. Trading two 2nds up to #28 and taking Ayers. Then take Austin at #36. That way we double up on DTs and get a SLB.

Trade our 3 for two 4ths if we can and take Marcus Gilbert and Marcus Gilchrist there. BPA after that.

Akeem Ayers isn't small, and fox likes faster guys at every position but DT, and there are some big guys who will be available later like Ellis. There is no 2nd round guy right now who fits the mold of a fox DT, unless a guy like taylor falls.
