Bruton definitely deserves to be on this team, with ST play alone, which makes him SS depth at a minimal by default. He may start (one-a few games?) out of default, I'd bet a $1 he does.

I'd bet $10 he never quite gets the instincts most desirable in a S and I often go to bed hungry, $10 to me is like $100 to most. That said, when his contract comes up, I truly hope he is resigned.

Just because I don't think he will ever be elite, that doesn't mean he wont be a serviceable starter and I could be wrong, he may just get it and keep it one of these days. I think S is the second most important position on the field ( as a personal preference or as IMO ) behind only QB. I wouldn't want a "serviceable" QB starting very often and or for very long.

Sometimes snaps really help a lot. This is a perfect season to find out which wheels wobble and which wheels make the car ride a rail. Start Willis and Davis trade Lloyd type of season ( lets not get the S thread off track ). So, Bruton starting some. Why not..

Edit............... Playing with Dawk has had to help him.

I hate the Defenseless Receiver rule and the fines. Posted since '07. 2011 rule addition :nono: backhand a fool!

College gives u game tape to evaluate and we obviously liked what we saw in bruton. We know he was a playmaker. We know he has ball skills we know he can cover and tackle. We know he can run and jump. AND we know he's made plays in the nfl(tackles, fumble recoveries, forced fumble, blocked punt)with limited action. Our scouts know he is talented and his play in college is the MAIN reason they know this and like I said there's no way their giving up on a guy they saw potential in after 2 years of VERY limited action

        Simple transitive property. HAHAH!

btw, what # pick was Bruton... even with his stats and measurables?
        A 4th round steal! When was brady,blount,shields,starks,td,sharp,foster,mike anderson,olandis gary,stephan davis,dante hall,zach thomas,rod smith,stokley,cox,syd,lloyd drafted??

Back to mcbath I'd be OK with him but I'd prefer a faster FS like PP or byron maxwell who I think is gonna be a huge steal and could be a day 1 starter at FS and will likely go between the 4th and 7th round.

all this does is help prove to me that the draft is a crapshoot. thanks for the reinforcement, though.

I never said it wasn't. My point is that where he's drafted means nothing; how he played along with size and athletic ability DOES. Bottom line is he's a baller and that's the last ill say about it

                still wouldnt count out bruton.

at dame he was at his best when he was allowed to rome the secondary. bang....just always there....ie on the ball.

yes he did whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiffffffffffffffffffffffff 2 tackles that i remember last year..least he wasnt in the hole braxton sideways style on kuafmann... and dont get me wrong i like braxton. but that 1 imo is the biggest jock in b-cos history and guess what braxton has way more clout than bruton.

but old bruton has some nice talent. blocked a punt and almost did it again.

itll be interesting to see if allen can get that extra gear outta him....

i think hes got it and i think allen can get it from him.

Bruton is not a good player.

He doesnt have good coverage instincts, and he has very marginal ability to change directions. His hips are stiff.

He does have potential, but as of right now he is Tim Crowder. He has shown upside, but overall he has been very average.

He has shown us no reason he should be the starter over Reynaldo Hill.

Bottomline, he has only been great on special teams in the nfl. He has been mediocre when actually playing defense. He should not be handed anything, and if he wants a spot in the lineup HE has to earn it.

So the guy with the fastest cone drill time of ANY db in his draft can't change direction?? The same guy deion evaluated at prime u and said will make a GREAT safety in the NFL

In pads he hasnt shown good change of direction skills.

Since when is Deon always right?

Yes he has. Especially at ND. Never mind the oakland play.

Bruton is a good player with incredible athleticsm, but i don't think he'll ever be a starter in the NFL, maybe one day he proves me wrong.
