  • Broncos mock draft *WITH TRADES*

Just a week and a half away until the draft! here's what I think we should do:

    1. 2nd overall: Marcel Dareus

We're not likely gonna be able to trade down and since Dareus is a can't miss prospect, we quickly announce our selection after Carolina takes Newton.

    2. Broncos trade 36th overall to Vikings so they can draft Jake Locker. With them not likely to bring Favre back (even if favre returns again) and Tavaeris Jackson leaving, all they have at QB is Joe Webb. The Broncos get the Vikings second round pick (43rd overall) 4th round pick (106th overall) and pick 172 (6th round)

Pick 43 (From Vikings) DT Stephen Paea

The dude's a flat out beast and would be a great fit in our defense

Pick 46 (From Dolphins) LB Mason Foster

We already addressed our DT needs with Paea and Dareus so now, lets get a LB that can stop the run and be a compliment to DJ Williams.

    Pick 67: SS Quinton Carter

Carter is a great leader, solid in coverage, and a terrific run stopper. And who better to mentor him as a rookie than Brian Dawkins?

Pick 106 (From Vikings) RB Jacquizz Rodgers

John Fox already said we'll add a running back, and I believe him, knowing how he came from a run-first system in Carolina. He reminds me of Ray Rice, and could be a future starter here.

Pick 172 (From Vikings) QB Greg McElroy

I'm kind of starting to believe we'll take a QB. But we won't in the 1st, and maybe not the 2nd either. McElroy's gonna be a great backup QB in the NFL. Maybe a starter too

    Pick 186: DE/OLB Steven Friday

Friday will give the Broncos some solid DE depth

    Pick 189: LB Akeem Dent

Dent gives Denver another LB for depth and/or special teams

    What do u guys think?

Its my birthday i can mock if i wanna!

I'm at work on my birthday so I'm spending it sharing my top 3 picks if there are no trades. This has been done too many times already... I know, deal with it. It's my day

We are getting a dt in the first two picks for certain. This is a what I to happen not a prediction. I'm no expert.

Since I'm wanting that dt in the first two picks I would be excited about dareus then Austin/paea, dareus then moore, or pp followed by austin/paea.

Since there is a large depth of dt talent that teams may wait till the second round I could see a very minuscule chance Taylor drops. I'd want him before Austin or paea.

Third pick is the incredible tackling lb mason.

Birthday wish for our top dogs.

I like all the players you take, but I don't think Locker will be available at 36, so your trade would not be possible. I think some team will panic and trade back into the late 1st for him. Why no OT? Are you planning on re-signing Harris or something?

        My Mock Draft

        1. Patrick Peterson (CB) - A shutdown corner and the safest pick in this years draft. He could learn from champ and eventually take over when champ moves to safety or retires. This will boost our secondary immensly, in process boosting our pass rush. I dont really like Dareus here because he doesnt seem like the kind of guy that wants to learn. He acts like he knows everything (watch warren sapp trying to teach him) and thats a formula for disaster for a rookie and Nick has too many concerns so it would be best to go safe with our top pick.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxqJjwuUCvg
        ^lol i like this vid.

2a. Stephen Paea (DT) - Dominates with horrible technique..Imagine the chaos he could cause with the proper coaching. He also shattered the draft combine record of bench reps with 49 reps.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky_zxdQ75Lw

2b. Martez Wilson (MLB) - The top MLB prospect and is also the fastest LB in this years draft. We could put him in the middle and move DJ to the weakside, were he excels.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHEqRiHAIV0

        3. DeAndre McDaniel (SS) - Would give us a great playmaker in the back. If he can get back to his old form he would be a great steal. Most teams will pass on him because he threw his girlfriend down a fleight of stairs but hes been out of trouble since then.DeAndre McDaniel is an impressive athlete and can play either safety position. He collected a whopping eight interceptions in 2009 to go along with his 98 tackles, 6.5 TFL and two sacks.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpAk11N3VkM

6a. Julius Thomas (TE) - The next basketball player turned stud tight end? Julius Thomas looked very natural at the Combine, making receptions with ease during the drills. Thomas (6-5, 246) ran a 4.63 40 and notched a 35.5-inch vertical. So much potential here.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tyzh...eature=related

6b. Henry Hynoski (FB) - Henry Hynoski is a tremendous blocker with solid pass-catching ability.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a4x6V31BMQ

        7. Noel Devine (RB) - He blazed a 4.26 at his pro day and is seen as a darren sproles type of player. He can help take some of the load off of knowshon and is a great receiving back to help get tebow yards on the dumpoffs.

I only have us taking one DT because it would be better for us to try to pick up a veteran to teach our rookie. I doubt two rookie DT will accomplish much.
We can always pick up Franklin, Cofeild, or Mebane when free agency comes around.

You'll probably catch a lot of heat for taking Peterson but I wouldn't be too upset if we took him.

I think your reasoning for only taking one DT is a bit faulty given the uncertainty of the CBA right now, there might not be free agency in a way that could allow us to easily acquire a vet DT. I would feel better if we spent two picks on DT in this draft.

I really like your picks in the later rounds. Thomas and Hynowski are two sleeper picks that I am very much in favor of, lots of potential.

Thx and yea i know, the CBA is messing everything up. Look at the Bucs, they took Gerald Mccoy and Brian Price with their 1st two picks last year and so far there both looking like busts. I really think you need a veteran to help teach expecially if you take a two rookies in a row.

McCoy was very good last year. And Brian Price was injured last year. Neither are busts.

Nice mock. Love PP and martez. 2 things: I don't think devine makes it past the 5th. And I'm a huge bruton fan so I'd rather take best DT available with the mcdaniel pick

Gerald was injured too and when he wasnt injured he didnt look 1st round worthy....Suh alone did more than both of them did together.

Thx and yea i have a feeling everyone will pass on Noel becuase he is really small and just hasnt done as much before the draft (workouts, combine, etc.) as other running backs.

i may be crazy but if we get dareus and he produced like Mccoy i would be happy. mccoy showed alot of sign being very good, he is going to surprise peopel this year and most defintally next year.

we have a vet who will start in vickerson we need 2+ DT just to help build our d-line. lastly we need to see more depth and this a great draft for d-lineman

Most defensive tackles start very slowly. And McCoy played about as good as you expect a rookie to perform. He showed alot of potential, and when he got injured the defense went to hell.

Again Brian Price was injured nearly the whole year. He has not even had a chance yet.

Who cares what Suh did? No defensive tackle has ever had the impact he did in his first season. We are watching a HOFer, so yeah he will do better than 2 players who together didnt play a full season.

Yea ur right, but still aint convinced with Dareus, plus id rather we used this chance to snag the next shutdown corner rather than a DT because PP is an almost guaranteed star while Dareus is not and it could take a year or two before he really starts having an impact.

and kyou i couldnt even find any of his rookie highlights..

                              Doheenz Crazy Mock

Hey guys, i didn't get a great reception from my last mock so i thought i'd make one more. This Mock will include trades and would basically be my dream scenario...
                              • Resign Ryan Harris- 4yr/$20mill
                              • Tim Tebow announced starter!

                              2011 NFL Draft
                              ........................

                              1. Carolina-QB Cam Newton- Becoming the consensus top pick, Carolina wants a QB to be the face of the franchise and a new regime.

~Trade~ Den trades pick #2 (2600) to Arizona for picks #5 (1700), 38 (520) & 103 (88), technically we do lose a little value, but considering this draft is lacking those very top end elite prospects we accept this trade in order to move back.

                              2. Arizona-OLB Von Miller- Az grabs the ultra-talented Von Miller just in front of Buffalo to be their new pass rush specialist off the edge.

                              3. Buffalo-DE/DT Marcel Dareus- Having missed out on their two top rated prospects, Buffalo grabs Dareus as a great consolation prize. He offers wonderful scheme versatility and talent, namely a 5-tech upfront for their full time 3-4 D.

                              4. Cincinnati-QB Blane Gabbert- With Carson Palmer all but forcing his way out of Cincy, the Bengals need a new franchise QB to lead their team. They hope Gabbert can come in and be that person.

~Trade~ Denver trades picks #5 (1700) & 103 (88) to Washington for picks #10 (1300) & #41 (490), Denver misses out on the two prospects (Miller and Dareus) that they would have liked to take at #5. They decide to once again move back to accumulate more picks.

                              5. Washington-WR AJ Green- Washington needs help at WR and moves up to grab one of the most 'sure' prospects in the draft just before the Cleveland Browns. AJ Green has all the tools to become an Elite WR in the NFL.

                              6. Cleveland-WR Julio Jones- Browns fans are in disbelief that they missed out on Green but still grab Jones as WR is a glaring need on this team. Jones has more deepthreat ability, running a sub 4.4 40. I think Jones could make Browns fans forget about missing out on Green in the future.

                              7. San Fransisco- Patrick Peterson- Ultra Talented CB, Elite athlete

                              8. Tennessee- Nick Fairley- This team has needed DT help since Hanesworth left in free agency. Comparisons have been made between the two both in terms of talent and potential maturity issues. Either way i think Titan fans would love the pick.

                              9. Dallas- Prince Amukamara- Dallas missed out on PP but still get a great corner to fit their most pressing need. I think Prince is more polished as a corner and could give Dallas an immediate impact player to push their talented team over the top.

                              10. Denver Broncos- J.J. Watt- Denver takes my favorite player in the draft, JJ Watt offers wonderful scheme versatility with the ability to play either strong side DE or UT in the 4-3 as well as 5-technique in 3-3-5 sets. This guy has a non stop motor an incredible football IQ and great work ethic.

"Watt has a good combination of size and speed. Takes direct routes to the quarterback, uses his hands well to get unblocked and shows a closing burst. Knocks down a lot of passes. Great hand usage against the run as well, keeps blockers off away from his frame and locates the ball-carrier. Outstanding football IQ. Non-stop motor. "

                              #36- DT Stephen Paea

                              #41- FS Rahim Moore

                              #46- ~Trade~ Denver trades pick #46 (490) to Miami for #79 (195) #111 (70) and 2012 3rd

                              #48- CB Aaron Williams

                              #67- MLB Greg Jones

                              #79- RB Jordan Toddman

                              #111- OLB Mark Herzlic

                              #186- SS Jeron Johnson

                              #189- TE Schuylar Oordt

                              #246- NT Anthony Gray

                              -----------------------------------

                              Starting Defense

                              DE- Doom, Ayers, Watt
                              DT- Watt, Paea, Vickerson, Gray
                              Sam- Herzlic, Haggan
                              Mlb- Jones, Haggan
                              Wlb- Williams, Woodyard
CB- Champ, A. Williams, Cox, Goodman
                              FS- Moore, McBath
                              SS- Hill, J. Johnson
