  • Beanie Wells?

A friend of mine at work tonight told me he read on twitter that if a Kolb deal falls through, Arizona is prepared to move on and try to acquire Kyle Orton. He said that a rumored trade is Beanie for Orton straight up. If anyone can find this it would be greatly appreciated.

If this is true, what would you think of this trade? Me personally I'd like it. Beanie has dissapointed thus far but is still young, has mad skills, and would be a great compliment to Moreno, plus he would come much cheaper than DeAngelo.

    Thoughts?

I think Wells will be better in a better offense. Last year with no QB in AZ it would have been hard for any RB to do well. In 2009 as a rookie he averaged 4.5 yards/carry for 800 yards while not starting a single game. A deal like that would get Orton's salary off the books plus bring in a RB with a huge upside for a pretty small contract. Wells is only getting $600K this year and $700K the next 2 years. Wells is someone I never really considered before as a likely candidate for a RB but I think him and Moreno would make a pretty good combo.

Much rather have DRC and a conditional than Beanie. Beanie hasn't proven anything. DRC has proven he can at least make big plays

The Cards have one of the worst Olines in the league and last year they had no one at QB to keep teams honest. Put Wells behind a better OLine and I think he will do much better. He is also just the kind of RB that fox likes. I think he would fit right into their plans and do very well.

I would rather get a conditional pick along with a player too and I think RB is a much bigger need than CB right now.

yes but only because it would mean orton is gone.. I dont think Beanie wells is that good though. That was a pretty bad draft class between him knowshon and donald brown

Heelllllll no. Can't catch, constantly nicked up, couldn't top 400 yards or 3.4 YPC last season, and before anybody says oh it's his O-line, why did Hightower average 4.8 YPC last year?

Wells for Orton straight up would be blind highway robbery. Maybe Wells + a 4th would be okay.

Hmm I think I would trade Orton for Wells and a conditional pick, but not straight up. He does fit the profile of a John Fox running back. I hope the CBA gets done soon so we can stop speculating about all of this and actually see a deal go down.

Just looked at Wells' wiki page...he is one of 11 children ha

Wells had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in late September and barely missed any time, my guess is he never fully recovered from that injury.

Wells still has some upside. He is even younger than Moreno. At this point, I see him as a better option that LenDale White, for example, if the team wants a bigger RB. Younger, faster, healthier. He missed 3 games in 2 seasons. That's not a concern to me especially for a RB. Durability will always be an issue.

But I don't think it's a good deal. A 28-year old starting QB like Orton straight up for a backup RB that has been a disappointment? Not good IMO. Yes, Wells is a recent 1st round pick but his value is very low nowadays, his 1st round status is gone.

The Browns traded Brady Quinn (who had much less value than Orton) for Peyton Hillis (a cast-off like Wells) and 2 draft picks. The Broncos would have to do something similar and ask for higher picks. Maybe Wells, a 4th round pick and a conditional pick.

I know Beanie in real life. Most of his brothers and sisters are adopted, aside from his brother Joey Wells who had a bright future, but he can't stay out of trouble at all. That said, I wouldn't take the risk. Off the field Beanie does a lot of stuff like playing basketball, remember what happened to Clady?

No thank you. I would rather Stephens Howling and a 3rd Round Pick for Orton
