  • Broncos get NFL-most $44 million total for 9 draft picks

Well EFX you've finally got your feet wet, and lets be honest the odds were stacked against you this year. You butchered the second round of the draft, but other than that I don't fault you all that much. We missed out on the big name guys, but that doesnt mean you need to panick and overspend on old and average talent. Save your pennies and take a run next year when there's less competition with seemingly bottomless checkbooks.
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?

I vote we burn this thread and ban you.

Just kidding about the second part

What are we saving our pennies for exactly? We're $20 mill under the cap, soon to be roughly $30 mill under when we trade Orton. There's a salary cap floor we have to meet. That's a lot of freakin pennies. 3 billion last time I checked.

WE NEED TO SPEND THEM. Not save them.

Wow. I don't get why nobody on here wants us to spend no money. How are we supposed to get these players that everybody wants but they don't want us to spend money? We better spend sum dang money. Its not our money. Its bowlins. And that's his team. Let them throw some money out. I'm sick of everybody. Oh we can't do this he's too expensive. Blah blah blah if it makes our team better! Throw some money then! I'm sick of seing mediocre football from our team I want the dang playoffs. Were not going to get there without spending money!

Yes really unless you want to overspend, and be in the exact same situation in a fewyears

My nomination for Worst Thread of the Year Award.
Hmmm so what you're saying is you want expensive average talent on your team, that will handicap us from pursuing any big name in the future?

QFT. It's not about being thrifty. We have to spend money.

Broncos get NFL-most $44 million total for 9 draft picks

By virtue of not only having the No. 2 overall draft pick (OLB Von Miller), but two picks in the second round (FS Rahim Moore, RT Orlando Franklin), the Broncos were allocated an NFL-high $44 million to sign their nine draft picks, according to an NFL source.

They haven't played a snap in the NFL yet and already you want to crucify them. I hope they turn into superstars so "fans" like you can switch gears and say that you knew all along that they would be good.

This is good news, and also puts into perspective how reasonable the new rookie salary scale is. Miller's contract is nothing to sneeze at, but it's not going to cripple us if he gets hurt or anything. As the article points out, the league-high TOTAL amount Denver is paying all of its draftees is still $16 MILLION less than last year's #2 pick got all by himself.

This is a much better system that will reward FAs as players who have earned big paychecks on the NFL field.

so we shouldnt spend money to improve a 4-12 team? Is your name ralph wilson or william clay ford by any chance?

on a more serious note, no can do, there's a minimum percentage of the cap that has to be spent under the new CBA...

I'm all about being intelligent with your finances (as much as it pains me to say it, I'm glad we didn't spend as much as CAR signing Williams)... but sitting on your hands doing nothing does not = clever strategy. There are good players available that could make this team competitive.
